@nothingnesswithouten: Here, I believe he is speaking to the egoic mind, because I see that that part of me has such a relief when I hear this message. What is left when that drops away is your awareness and that still drives you in life, so you move in life without egoic commentary in a much more real, deep way.
@Divaz231 Thank you for your reply. It was helpful. Maybe I just need to learn to trust awareness. Or realize that there is no 'I' separate from awareness. Don't really know how that realization is supposed to happen. But then maybe that's the absurd nature of the spiritual quest.
Surrender works on all levels. I found out you can totally surrender to any problem (except physical pain?) and when you do, it's so much easier to live. When I wanted something so bad for weeks I was in total uneasy and when I finally thought "you wont get it. let it be, it's ok." I felt so easy and light.
@Zeitgeist1101 You're absolutely right. I was there a few months ago and awhile back I made a breakthrough of epic proportions ... it just happened. Of course I still get pulled away by thought from time to time(like right now), but I can now enter the field of the present more readily and experience no-thought for 30 mins or so , handful of times a day. It's improved life greatly. The Krishnamurti/Dr Anderson series is helpful
@xtrmsprts but they are not the same. They are opposites. Surrender when it happens is the easiest thing, no resistance leading to perfect peace. It is going with the flow. IWhat is arduous is the resisting, the fighting against the inevitable. True surrender is perfect peace.
@kristina4DalaiLama I know what you mean though there's an almost masochist,self-denying strain that runs in the notion of inviting suffering. It's good to accept an undesirable situation but to make suffering the object or make buddha or jesus or some icon the object of one's thoughts is evasive and cowardly. To really surrender, you must surrender all your conceptions, history ,admirations, thoughts and truly inquire on your own. I've found this most liberating.
ever see that film with jet li called the one ? well basically he kills all of the versions of himself in other dimensions to become one pretty cool film lol anyway i was (thinking) that maybe the ego exists in another dimension and is not really apart of what is, to become one you'd have to come back from those multi dimensions metaphysically speaking
It's a sign of the dawning age of Aquarius. Metahuman evolution giving birth to various entities. Some benevolent, some nefarious. Me, I'm riding passenger. Krishna's driving the chariot.
wether you think you are or you dont, you already are in the passenger seat.who would slip into the passenger seat anyways, the driver? the driver disappears and there is nothing he/she can do to bring that about. telling someone to slip into the passenger seat is asking them to do just one last bit of driving. so why am i watching this video?
If i completley let go of all thoughts and surrender to 'gods' will, i just end up sat staring at a wall, i dont get up to eat, or do anything at all because nothing happens? Any impulse to do anything comes from a thought, which i've been told to surrender, so nothing happens?
@ZetanCrisp Its about going beyond compulsive thinking and negative energy, when you go beyond ego and suffering your thoughts and actions come from a deeper place, not from the mind, its more of a notion (still manifests as a thought) of what it is that you have to do. You live in a state of mostly not knowing, and out of that real knowing arises. Listen to Rest As AWareness, another video from adyashanti.
I seem to be stuck in an inbetween world where i can see that i create my thoughts, but i still get caught up in them. It goes around in circles, i just want to be completley 'awake' all the time but dont know how to stop getting swept away every 5 minutes and having to continuously catch it happening.... or is that just the way it is?
@ZetanCrisp After trying many techniques and teachers I have found the greatest help from Byron Katie's and Adyashanti's inquiries and meditations. These are the most direct and quickest paths to realize reality and disengage from thoughts for me and many, many of my friends. Good luck ZetanCrisp and much love, Todd. Ps. Sri Nisargadatta kicks ass too! Stephen Wolinsky's "I am that I am" is a wonderful book of Nisargadatta's teachings.
It doesn't matter if it happens, if you catch it that already is wonderful. Just don't let it get to you, the ego might say:" look how long youv been doing this? and im still here? why? what am i doing wrong etc etc" and your getting anxious and slowely stepping away from the now. never give in.
sit down on your chair, let your left hand hang and just feel it, feel it tingle feel your fingers. do the same for the right hand and just notice and feel your hand. good exercise
@ZetanCrisp i think to catch it happening is the work of it...my view. i think it might be better to think..."being awake" is a workout...like lifting weights. not that you strain, but you are always waking up to something? it seems so to me...blessings, j.
@ZetanCrisp haha :-) the point here is You don't create your thoughts at all! You only think YOU created them, because you're still in the driverseat.
You have to reclaim consciousness from the mind. To become enlightened consciously you have to relinquish thoughts of past and future. To do this you have to stop thinking. You can use portals which help you stop thinking such as sense perceptions, nature, inner body, silence, or just stop thinking. For inner body slightly focus your attention inward. We would all love to stop thinking and be at peace but the mind wants to survive, and that can only happen thru constant thinking.
@ZetanCrisp impulses do not only arise from thought, but when your perception shifts from believing you are your mind to knowing the real you is the silent awareness...you still have impulses, but they arise from a much deeper, true place...try not to think about it too much :)
if wounded i'll gladly bleed they're my beliefs i would not force them on you but i can share...a thought...in a thousand lifetimes we could not begin to understand true beauty as GOD sees. in trying to surpass god you deny him and if your mind is open your sin is only that much more severe...my belief, though free...realizes tha true limit...jah bless
@415life Its not about surpassing God, we are god, you really don't realize God, you remember who you are which is god. We all got lost in thought and negative emotion. When you go beyond compulsive thinking and needing to know everything, and dissolve past pain, you realize the state of pure consciousness without thought( labels, judgements, interpretations). At that point we do see beauty and the connectedness of everything, because we are God.
There are thousands of books that teach about sacred heaven. There are thousands of books that teach about the sacred earth, but the book with the answers is in our heart. Try not to wound another heart.

erm .. most people i know are lazy passengers and the drivers are frustrated with doing all the work!! seriously .. people often dislike monks because they are freeloaders.
i broke down in my car and my buddhist boyfriend did nothing to help .. just sat meditating by the roadside .. great !
I love to relax and surrender because it has assisted me in my stillness. I have learned, when I surrender, I literally see in thought, all that bothered me, wither away instantly...onto the next lesson.
ah, i was talking about this guy newenglandtom, that was talking against Eckhart tolle and Adyashanti. Somehow my reply didnt get posted right down the comment.
After listening to this crap, I'd say "RUN AWAY [from him] OR SUFFER!" ...geeez come on...the cloak of "egolessness", the trappings, the words, the comportment, lah lah lah...lets stop playing "church" or "guru" and calling all this entertainment "truth" or "enlightenment"...unless of course you you are enjoying all of this! Peace Love & Entertainment!
I have read all of his books and found all them to be great. But the one I liked the most was Emptiness Dancing. And yes because he is a realized master the writings in his book carry a very power energy that will change your state of mind from the moment you hold his book in your hand. Good Luck
If you want an awakening from a book I suggest A Course in Miracles. It's the most powerful book I've ever read (just my opinion). It has a Christian slant to it that may be off putting to some, but when you awaken it's all the same love. Plus it's the book that many "popular enlightened teachers" quote.
Thanks for post. I think the Christian slant might put me off (even though it probably shouldnt). However i bought Emptiness Dancing and i dont even seem to be reading that (probably cause i have a lot of work to do) so i wont buy another book for the mo.
Thanks for reply!
By the way I am Jewish. I am comfortable with a Jewish slant or Buddhist slant, but maybe less so for Christianity. Not sure why.
One more thing to add, only because of the profound impact this book has had on myself. The book was written by an Atheist Jewish woman who was not spiritual. She heard a prophetic voice and started writing it down. The book doesn't get caught up in the usual christian dogma. The focus is on dispelling our identity with the ego illusion. It feels like an intense cleansing. Most Christians are totally against this book, which claims the bible was written by dualistic minds.
You can maybe go for awakening from a book....or you can just pick something, anything, and ask "what separates [x] from [not x]?"
So pick a stone on the floor and ask "what separates the 'stone' from the 'not-stone'?" If you come up with something, then ask what separates the stone from this other something :oD
first you have to learn that when you are angry, depressed, negative, etc its not you but your ego. Our essence doesnt need anything to be happy, because you are all ready but the reason that makes you not feel it is because we think we need things, people or whatever to be happy, thats what enlightenment is about.
should I Pursue what I want with Determination, even though it Compares to ego wanting..?
should I live in a positive Love world, with myself and those I choose to inhabit it with..
Or should I respect all the negative people without living as I want to..?? I dont know how to solve this.. I cant live without negativity, nor positivity... HOW THE HELL SHOULD I BALANCE THIS?:P
anyways thanks ALOT for appreciative answers , and insights with wisdom and intelligence ..
For Accepptance means perceiving whatever is. In doing so "negative" feelings tend to disolve at their own. Negative feelings get their reality fronm our fighting against them. So acceptance doesn't mean everything must always be ok. It is the openness to ask "What's it like right now?" and feel with honesty. Spirituality is facing what is in openness, be true to yourself. The way is always through the feeling, not around it.
enlightenment and unenlightenment go hand in hand. One cannot be enlightened for ever because it has an opposite. one must realise one thing...There is no spoon. The end of your search is held be-lie-ef that u were searching to begin with. I am aware of my programming.
Maybe the concentration of a certain energy makes you feel more like a person even if its not really anything and that "you" gets rid of the limitations wich is even more concentration of uneccesery energy..?
It's about going with the flow..the river that you created by your desires...when you don't go with what life is calling you toward...you don't feel good...it's about reaching for the better feeling thought...everything we want is downstream,,,let go of the oars!
Well, I guess it isn't a secret any more! Now that the secrets out let's all be creators of illusory separate creations. Hel we can even say that "I" created this. Then we can continue pretending that we're all separate individuations. Good to know, b/c I had assumed that manifestation occured in order for these vehicles to 'realize' they're God and live as that. Now I can go back to getting lost in the never ending dualistic mind.
You may not be able to find the same shirt. But you can consciously BE what he IS. And then you'll be happy with the shirt you are wearing at this moment.
No satsang has ever been old. Your solution: get rid of your old ears. Your struggle: resistance to getting rid of your old ears - they are full with distorted memories of 'old' satsangs.
Look inside and see your idea that your husband controls everything. Then give this idea a chance to go on holiday. See your husband withouth this idea.
free will is not 'based on separation' - the multiplicity of the one includes free will..

I love to relax and surrender because it has assisted me in my stillness. I have learned, when I surrender, I literally see in thought, all that bothered me, wither away instantly...onto the next lesson.
Love to all!

Peace Love & Entertainment!

Emptiness Dancing - Great Book
hami300 3 years ago
So I think he wrote at least two books. have you read any other of his books? (so you can compare them).. Or is that the only one you read.
Does the book really change your state of mind dramatically, or is it more just interesting.. (maybe I expect too much from a book)
Simon0 3 years ago
I have read all of his books and found all them to be great. But the one I liked the most was Emptiness Dancing. And yes because he is a realized master the writings in his book carry a very power energy that will change your state of mind from the moment you hold his book in your hand. Good Luck
hami300 3 years ago
Thanks I'll probably order it. (nice title)

Did you get awakening from his book?
Simon0 3 years ago
If you want an awakening from a book I suggest A Course in Miracles. It's the most powerful book I've ever read (just my opinion). It has a Christian slant to it that may be off putting to some, but when you awaken it's all the same love. Plus it's the book that many "popular enlightened teachers" quote.
cinnamonpony 3 years ago
Thanks for post. I think the Christian slant might put me off (even though it probably shouldnt). However i bought Emptiness Dancing and i dont even seem to be reading that (probably cause i have a lot of work to do) so i wont buy another book for the mo.
Thanks for reply!
By the way I am Jewish. I am comfortable with a Jewish slant or Buddhist slant, but maybe less so for Christianity. Not sure why.
Simon0 3 years ago
One more thing to add, only because of the profound impact this book has had on myself. The book was written by an Atheist Jewish woman who was not spiritual. She heard a prophetic voice and started writing it down. The book doesn't get caught up in the usual christian dogma. The focus is on dispelling our identity with the ego illusion. It feels like an intense cleansing. Most Christians are totally against this book, which claims the bible was written by dualistic minds.
cinnamonpony 3 years ago
You can maybe go for awakening from a book....or you can just pick something, anything, and ask "what separates [x] from [not x]?"
So pick a stone on the floor and ask "what separates the 'stone' from the 'not-stone'?" If you come up with something, then ask what separates the stone from this other something :oD
fishintheflow 2 years ago
first you have to learn that when you are angry, depressed, negative, etc its not you but your ego. Our essence doesnt need anything to be happy, because you are all ready but the reason that makes you not feel it is because we think we need things, people or whatever to be happy, thats what enlightenment is about.

how about suffering in a form of wanting a girl wich you cant have.. haha.. or losing a girl to another..

should I Pursue what I want with Determination, even though it Compares to ego wanting..?
should I live in a positive Love world, with myself and those I choose to inhabit it with..
Peace..

Always feel what ever you feel, fully.

P4k4er 3 years ago
And realising is just the unenlightening going over to the enlightening right..?
if its already realised you are over that,
if you realise EACH moment you enlighten yourself from unconciouseness each and every single moment.. right?..
so you get unenlightened each moment..
if you dont enlighten yourself in every new situation or experience or feeling passion.. etc.etc.. ... right..? realiseing...!
OMG:D

same demonic spirit that is on tolle, just with less hair, no accent, and without the sweet vest.
your true nature is sinful. the only remedy for sin is the BLOOD OF JESUS.
followers of these teachings will be awakened but to a dark light.

Maybe the concentration of a certain energy makes you feel more like a person even if its not really anything and that "you" gets rid of the limitations wich is even more concentration of uneccesery energy..?

It's about going with the flow..the river that you created by your desires...when you don't go with what life is calling you toward...you don't feel good...it's about reaching for the better feeling thought...everything we want is downstream,,,let go of the oars!
buffedtrainer 4 years ago
The real secret to life is that we are Source Energy or GOD in physical bodies. We came here to be Deliberate Creators, not reguritators of "what-is".
And you can tell by the way you Feel..which direction you're headed in.
buffedtrainer 4 years ago
Well, I guess it isn't a secret any more! Now that the secrets out let's all be creators of illusory separate creations. Hel we can even say that "I" created this. Then we can continue pretending that we're all separate individuations. Good to know, b/c I had assumed that manifestation occured in order for these vehicles to 'realize' they're God and live as that. Now I can go back to getting lost in the never ending dualistic mind.

You may not be able to find the same shirt. But you can consciously BE what he IS. And then you'll be happy with the shirt you are wearing at this moment.

"Surely the perfect little housewife, working the home, looking after the children, has to be the very soul of surrender and enlightenment. (smile.)
What do you say Adyashanti?

Adyashanti says: You're the perfect soul, true. Just surrender the thoughts about being the perfect little housewife, and you'll see.

and i always thought new satsangs where better than the old ones ^^
1niels 4 years ago
No satsang has ever been old. Your solution: get rid of your old ears. Your struggle: resistance to getting rid of your old ears - they are full with distorted memories of 'old' satsangs.

Exactly. My husband tries to control everything. In the process of it he suffers.
nicolatwo 4 years ago
Look inside and see your idea that your husband controls everything. Then give this idea a chance to go on holiday. See your husband withouth this idea.
