The generation of groups that came out of this particular era were destined for greatness and really showed the world what musical genius with humility was all about. This jam, among many others, epitomized the type of music which slow dancers came out of the walls for.
Good Jams Reminds Me of My ChildHood!!!! now i gotta pass all These golden jams to the Kids So they donT forget about REAL mUSIC!!!!!! thanks for shaRing!!!!
this was my 1st jam 2 introduce me 2 the 5 Stairsteps!!! couldn't resist that harmony...i'm hip 2 "Time & Throwing Stones atcha" as of yesterday lol ALL STUPENDOUS SONGS
@LADyOLDIEz; you touched a dream with this peice,almost teared-up for real... I remember all the little heart-breakers at the parties,and RIP to all my thuglife homies who once danced to this...StonieDogStl. ;-)
My favorite Stairsteps song ever. I was 8 when this came out shortly after Christmas 1968/the begining of New Year 1969,.. Even at that young age, I knew that I was hearing a classic love song. Everything about this song is perfection, the arrangement, the vocals, the strings & that voice floating in the background sounding like angels singing.
What great memories & thanks for the wonderful post!
You can find Keni Burke on Facebook and updates of his sister and brothers as well. He's on my contact list and he's always open to answering questions.
i believe the record company was CURTOM or something to that nature by xurtis mayfield and he wrote some of their first biggest songs, many dont know this dont sleep on curtis mayfield as an arranger and producer of some classic love songs..chk the makings of you by him and also by gladys k and the pips
Whatever happened to stop us from creating music like this and just sample old music and write new lyrics for it? Who or what took this away from us? Who are us? I mean the black singers and musicians and songwriters who created, wrote and sang this music. No disrespect to the people in the music industry but you know what you put out now is creatively inferior to music post 1990 bar a few songs. Thanks to all of you who have embraced and discovered this music and will allow it to live forever
Somebody can send me the lyrics of this beautiful song?
I'll be glad with him! :D

I dig this Latin street art, but with a song like this, it sends mix messages. It kills the mood.

Whatever happened to them is unknown, but they certainly left their mark.

whatever happened to then IS known. you have to know where to find it. soul-patrol is the biggest site to know what happened to the stairsteps.

@RickToye
hey rick,
i don't know about the entire family's whereabouts, but kenny burke produced and worked on some mary j . blige stuff, so he's still out there.
this is among one of my all time favorite groups, and i've always loved their sound and style.
