  • Great videos, hunting is way better then just going and buying the meat. It actually gives the animal a chance and doesn't raise it in confined spaces (just enough room to barely live) and live a majority of it's life suffering until it ultimately reaches an unavoidable end.

  • I liked your video, I'll be starting to actually go hunting this season and needed to learn the easiest way to gut a deer, I'm not interested in keeping the hide for mounting unless i get a REALLY nice buck, but even then I think I'll just clean the skull and mount that myself. I had a question though, does it really small bad with what you did or is it when the guts are puntured that it really smells bad? Thanks for your time and effort for the vid.

  • I think my way of doing it is easier than this video. Don't fuck around with the esophagus. grab it by the nuts cut it open. Break the pelvis bone. Split it up to where he said the cape line is. Dont be a pussy reach up inside with your knife cut out the guts and drag um out. Tip her up your good to go. You can spray them out it won't grow bacteria. to the Fuck tart that asked if you wash it out before gutting it, its Gina get bloody why wash it twice.

  • Quick field dress: Need a SwingBlade knife & 2 small zip ties. Use standard blade & make a nick upward just under xiphoid. Change blade & insert just under the nick with the tip pointed downward & the cutting edge outward. Zip open abdomen to the pubic bone. Pull out guts & locate rectum. Milk all turds up into the colon, zip tie x 2 & cut colon between ties. Cut entire diaphragm at ribs, reach high into chest to neck & cut trachea. Pull heart/lungs/entrails out as a unit, trimming along spine.

  • there's no need to chop the pelvis or breast bone. first of all use a sharp knife...then cut around the ass...slice the skin from the ass up to the gut cavity...pull the anus/colon (fully intact) up through the pelvis. That way you dont risk the chance of cutting the bladder making a mess of things. Then cut the diaphragm (which you did) but then instead of chopping the breast bone...carefully reach up into the chest cavity, grab the wind pipe and cut it. pull the guts out and you're done.

  • This video is about the only one on here that is as close to the correct way to dress a deer. That's pretty much how I do mine I just don't cut that high through the ribs. Nice job

  • u only cut to the ribs and then u just pull the guts out and then u can grab the wind pipe and plull it out it is a lot easer and a lot less work but hay that is just how i do thangs

  • I voted up because alot of people need to learn how to gut a deer...But,If you will cut in the other direction you will have less of a hairy mess....As far as the tailbone goes,there is a crease in the middle of the tail bone,and if performed correctly,you can open it with a knife...Just feel for the crease with the knife blade and once in the center of the crease,hit the backside of the blade with the palm of your hand...It will bust right open...Good Video for reference...

  • This guy needs to refer to some experts for better guidance of how to skin and remove the guts of any animals. Remeber, do not cut through the meat util after u skinned it. Once skinned, simply hang it up side down on a tree or something, cut through and remove the guts. You won't even see a single drop of blood.

  • Thanks, that was educational. I have killed a few deer, and my older brother dressed them for me. He said I am doing the next one myself. It's not that I didn't want to do it, but I had no idea how or where to start. This is helpful for a beginning hunter like me.

    guts and just reach up into chest and cut windpipe and cut the diaphram,he also absolutely destroyed the cape for mounting-never cut up through the chest into the neck! I us an oldtimer pocketknife with a 3 in blade and always cut from the skin side not the hair side,that is unless you enjoy hairy meat!

  • Cut the throat open before you do anything else and tie a knot on the esophagus... That way, you prevent any stomach-fluids to run out inside of the chest-and stomack cavities, ruining the meat... :-)

  • Over the years I've learned not to hose out a deer and to be very carful to not let anything touch the rump meat. It will spread bacteria that causes the meat to taste bad. I try to let the outer layer of meat dry up versus cleaning it. It protects the meat in transport and can be shaved of when skinning. Also, it's so easy to cut yourself on those rib bones. Bring along some vinyl gloves when hunting even if you have tough hands.

  • @yowilliss Yes. The guts are no good. However, many people save the heart, kidneys, and liver. They can be very good if cooked properly. Otherwise bury the remaining entrails in the field (it is not recommended to simply leave them by the side of the road, you know).

    try this:

    get some olive oil, cut the liver in 3 equal parts and grill it . when the liver is half grilled, add some rosemary (its a culinary spice) and a bit of chopped parsley. when it is cooked, add a trickle of olive oil.

    note: make shure the liver and kidneys are well cooked. if not, you may get hepatitis or any other illness.

  • I think this was a primer on how to dress a deer. I do like the comments about hanging it up so that gravity will work in your favor. I suppose a tree and some paracord will get that done. One thing is for certain. This gentlemen did a good job and he needs a better/sharper knife to make the job easier/quicker.
