To tune the guitar, simply plug the guitar into the tuner, and play a string, for the Korg GA-30, just simply pluck a string and try to get the meter pointing directly Upwards, or downwards if your eyes have an inverted axis, and then move along the other strings.

Note: 1. Have your guitar knobs turned up to MAXIMUM 2. Do not hold down any frets 3. Check if it's set on Bass or Guitar 4. Always Remeber 6E 5B 4G 3D 2A 1E as E standard tuning 5. tune your guitar Up or down if it's not detected.

It works just as well for any instrument, electric and acoustic.

In fact, mine (same type) picks up the notes from my speakers quite far away and it shows the same tuning as in the video :)

when i try to tune it will a letter pop up on the screen to tell me what the note is or do the tuners only have the standard EADGBe.

for example if i hit the first string (E) but say i wanted it to be an D would the tuner tell me i have a D or will it just keep saying its wrong until i get it into an E?

yep you should be able to do that. chromatic tuner, will tell you all 12 notes so you could tune each string to something different.

when you first fixed the string, try stretch/pull it before tuning it.

probably because that e string is out of tune....it may be tuned close to a b or g note...tune it higher or lower until it comes up as E.
