that effect wasn't the ring mod on the mold spore, but the modulation from the Fm4 mod. pedal he uses, most likely since he activated the effect on that side

I agree there are some definite similarities with Robot Checkerboard, but this is not the same song.

You could say it's improv with a little bit of robot checkerboard but the only similarity is the short trills.
