Q: what *exactly* is the reason older (ie over 50) male rock singers have trouble hitting high notes? eg harnell, halford, plant. Bruce Dickinson is the only one I can think of who can still hit them.
@Andybaby Well I wouldn't agree with you that these people can't still "hit" high notes. Just like anyone, we all have off nights, but to answer you question, I also think if you hear a famous singer struggling a bit, they may be in need of some coaching. Everyone benefits from having some lessons and getting tuned up and calibrated from time to time. The greatest singers are actually the ones that SHOULD have lessons more than anyone. Sometimes you take voice lessons because you can sing.
