Age is taking a little toll on his singing voice (finally) but no one escapes time not even real famous guys. I liked this performance. He didn't used to play many Wings songs since his wife who was part of that band is no longer here. Nice to hear Jet. Would have liked "Helen Wheels" just as much.
awesome! i guess rusty and the guys didn't have very good monitors. i dig the way they just kept it as it was without touching it up though. too many bands do that these days... sometimes it's ok to be out of tune - it's human!
I saw Paul recently and he sounded perfect, a long show where he put it all out there for a long show, with only a short period in the middle where his voice got a rest. Amazing for a man in his 60's, nailing tunes he recorded in his 20's.
This was just a bad night. But as I saw someone post: Tomorrow, he'll still be Sir Paul, and I'll still be in a cover band!
@beachdog67 First of all, your not my friend and second of all I have seen McCartney many more time than you and met Paul and Linda in Chicago July 1990.....
the beatles wore suit jackets with velvet black collars in a hard days night thanks to dougie millings who designed their outfits....they put him in the movie...john cuts his tape measure...rip dougie, john, george..
paul dd good here...he's 68...in great shape..guess being a happy optimistic bloke has its benefits...
Gotta say at our house we found this appearance heartbreaking. Does anybody know if he's just at the end of a tour and fighting off a cold, or has it come to this with his voice?
@beachdog67 Man I love his music so much, I am to the point though I wish he would sing songs in a register for him, and not what used to be for him. Very sad indeed.
@Rightsideup This is a touchy point for Paul's fans, but it is an undeniable fact that his vocal range is not what it once was. While it might initially sound a bit weird hearing familiar songs played in lower keys, the listener's ear would quickly adapt, and Paul would end up sounding much better than he does straining to reach high notes. That said, I doubt that he is going to change.
@mikedemilo Of course he won't change. I was just speculating on the potential improvement in his performances, now that he is approaching 70 years old. In any case, I love the guy. He is the preeminent songwriter or our era, bar none. The only credible challenger for that title would be the late, great John Lennon. Some might say Dylan, but I don't think so. Bobby wrote some great songs back in the day, but his total output of first rate material pales in comparison to Paul's.
@mikedemilo Speaking of great songs by a great songwriter, people should listen to some of Paul's solo albums, in particular "Flaming Pie" and "Chaos and Creation in the Backyard." The are more than a few songs on both albums that can stand up with the best of the Beatles. Very few Beatles fans are familiar with Paul's post-breakup career, but some of his work has been at a very high level.
@Allareone2 agreed again. i love paul's solo stuff. from driving rain to memory almost full. but i thought chaos and creation and the fireman were especially brilliant
Paul is amazing, and he still rocks at almost 70 no matter what anyone says because he does it with his soul.
@Rockestra63 - Totally agree with the comment about the band. I was completely impressed by Abe when I saw Paul on tour. What an awesome drummer! And this comes from a Ringo lover.
What a great band to surround Sir Paul...Wix, Abe, Rusty and Brian! Abe is a demon in the kit...Paul couldn't have picked a more powerful, enthusiastic drummer!! Go team go!! The rendition of A Day in the Life really blew me away... really made me think..."what if..."
I was going to watch this last night but i feel asleep right after i saw Paul and Paul at the very begining of the show......grrr i was so mad i've been waiting to see this since i heard about it lol

I don't know what some of you people are talking about, this is rocking, McCartneys voice sounds fantastic for this power chord rocker!
Now if he'd just perform more of his Wings rockers!

It's amazing that at 68 years old the talent still shines through. His energy is amazing. At any age, he is still a Beatle.

@beachdog67 SNL is kind of notorious for making the music acts sound bad. He sounded pretty good on Letterman.

@otuleja because they didn't sing very well actually.
