At the end of the war Germans fought and died to preserve Germany and protect their family from the allies. Those men didn't care about Hitler or the Nazi's they fought for the same reasons as the Americans.
@NYRangersDude12 thats exactly right dude!...i try to explain that to people and some dont want to belive it....but ohh well..as long as ppl like us do that all that matters
You know when you have been killed such as at the last reenactment I was at it was the ostfront and 11 russians charged me. You can guess what happened lol
Had an amazing time at this reenactment im in the video at 4:38 in 3rd from the left with my gun pointed at the ground. This was a blast and glad i am in the video it looks amazing!
@roflcopter1231000 sometimes you guess... but there is also a muzzle flash. and if you see the muzzle flash and you can tell the guy is pointing at you.. your suppose to know. and fall
@naddaclue1 The battles in the midwest like this (I'm in here somewhere) do not have referees. Instead we have a general sense of choreography and you try your best to meet it. For example we knew the Germans were going to come up our ass and overtake all the allies. However, we do have tacticals throughout the year with referees and the such but those are not open to the public. Mainly because you wouldn't see much when we are actually out using tactics and trying to not get hit.
I have a couple of questions, first were in rockford is this, second are the uniforms/equipment provided, third how old do you have to be, and fourth do you live in Illinois.
@theawesomegamer12 you purchase your own gear. you have to be 16 min. you can live anywhere, you are part of one unit. where that unit goes so do you. I live in NC but reenacted at Lowell and Rockford plenty of times, it's where I started. I now have a unit in NC just google wwii reenactment units, you'll find one close to you.
@DaFestaPanzer: Danke, he was a Marine Infantry veteran like myself. It's just nice they got some good shots of him in his last event. He loved reenacting...:(
(Sad Note): The German Waffen SS NCO at the beginning, he passed away with his wife 2 weeks after this battle was filmed. He was in a motorcycle accident with his wife. They both will be missed terribly. This was his last battle with the unit (LAH Nat'l). Thx for getting some good shots of him here....
@gruntythe1andonly It depends on the organization running the event, but I think this year it was 16 to participate in a public battle, and 18 to operate a weapon. Being 16 myself, I just hungout in the halftrack with a bunch of farbs, and then jumped out at the end to surrender. There are some organizations that allow people under 16, but at that point you dont participate in public battles, and you are pretty much just building your impression and learning a lot.
@gruntythe1andonly Even just going to this events and asking questions is a great idea if you are thinking of joining in the future. We love it when people ask questions :)
Awesome video as always!! You even got my "headshot death" at 3:24 in! (US greeting blow. Up last year was better though). Keep up the awesome filming! You ought to try going to Conneaut next August. It's the best new event in the USA by far!
Definitely your best one yet Justin! I love how you chose to use the voices of the important leaders of that war! It must have been hard running around getting those camera angles eh? lol
Very well done! I know how long these videos take and you did a great job. What software did you use to put it all together? Eric M from D-Day Conneaut.
you got alot of the rangers in the video.. great video... theres some clips of it i would be interested in using for a recruitment video.... if you give me the ok...
I am a Civil War reenactor and that is really fun, but this looks like Civil War reenacting on steroids.

Amazing, very convincing! The aggressiveness from both sides particularly so.
I wonder how many men forget it's a re-enactment during conflict.

@roflcopter1231000 usually you see the muzzle flash of the gun that shot you. Most have referees that judge if you've been hit or not.

I must say this video is absolutely beautiful.
I was there, part of the 90th Infantry division, the Tough Ombres.
This is one of the greatest WWII events around, people fly in from all over for this one event and this coming year I'll be one of them.
Cant wait to see everyone again.
