EVERYONE, LISTEN TO ME! If you want to record your gmod with props falling or exploding... a video like this, and you can't because it lags you like hell, type in console sv_cheats 1, then host_timescale 0.09. The game will be slower, but smooth. It won't lag and you can capture the frames, then speed the video up. Hope this served!!

Why are people comparing Gmod vs Cryengine?

you compare a mod vs an engine?

Its Source engine, it's fun but for me, yes but a no go for me as "realistic"

Cryengine 2 achieved the most realistic looking scenes seen in Crysis

Cryengine 3 is way better BUT, not optimized for PC YET.

They are now working on the PC version, optimizing DX11(which does boost both GFX and performance)

Also, Crysis 2 Ultra HD texture mod is already on it's way

Source and Cryengine are beast.

I just like Sandbox more.

@gamer1337omg Pretty sure you don't know what you are talking about since you can't even spell engine right. Cryengine is far from perfect. It's was an amazing technology 3 years ago, almost the same as Source was an amazing technology 7 years ago. However I'm not at all impressed by CryEngine 3 or the Crysis 2 demo. It's not much different than when OB hit Source. Other newer engines like Unreal 3.5, Creation Engine, ID Tech 5, and FrostByte 2.0 are all going to blow CryEngine out of the water.

the thing to remember about crysis and gmod is that gmod was made with the intent of using physics to its full potential that could be represented in a game at that point in time by a system of that spec.

crysis on the other hand was designed as an FPS , the physics in that game were an afterthought but were a successful afterthought. The thing to remember is that both are great games but they have their diffferences.

In half life 2 there are a couple of puzzles that you solve using the physics engine , i remember the washing machine one when you have the boat whereas in crysis its just there so that when you launch a rocket at something the object will fly into the air realistically..

Gmod ON THE SAME system will give you an ed_alloc no free edicts error but yeah bot the engines are great physics engines but Crytek focuses a lot on eyecandy. but on Portal 2 there is hardly no eyecandy
