  • this is a gym class at my school...very awkward

  • You caught the essence without even moving your body! Congrats. O Sensei was imagining Shintaido. I agree he would be happy.

  • this is either incredibly moronic OR it is beautiful in the sublime sense...i would bank on the latter.. it brought tears of joy to my eyes just to see these free expressions... I am sure Maestro Ueshiba would be smiling in his grave! Shin-tai-do....what a wonderful art! Go shintaido!

  • sooo full of it

  • If you think that Shintaido just repeats what Aikido did you fail to understand Shintaido or Aikido or both, I would suggest. Which is it?

  • it looks like a sect ... xD

  • Of course, this has all been done before many years ago - it's called AIKIDO, that is the Aikido of O sensei ( Ueshiba) and his Misogi & Tai Sabaki.

  • @TNP007TNP This isn't Aikido.... at all.

  • @Aikidopoi I wasn't saying that THIS is Aikido. I was saying that O Sensei had already discovered this kind of stuff and developed a system called Aikido that used it in a worth while way, not this nonsense. Ueshiba could do all this and a whole lot more so why don't they just go and practice Aikido because it's a whole lot better and more worth while. O Sensei practiced a lot of things that he never actually actively taught but helped make him so good.

  • @TNP007TNP Ahh okay, sorry... Looking at your comment now I don't know why I interpreted it in the way I did. I whole heartedly agree with you about O Sensei.

I'm don't think this Shintaido is a bad thing at all, but I also don't think it's intended to be a 'Martial' art as much as it's just an 'art'.

  • @Aikidopoi Yes I don't really mean any disrespect to Shintaido, the world would definitely be a better place if people where a bit more cooperative & non aggressive. But then again, that is one of the essences of Aikido. I suppose Shintaido does offer the ability to be somewhat more expressive & artistic in its practice (not a bad thing). I suppose one of my main problems with it is that most if not all Shintaido practitioners have no real martial arts or self defence skills at all

  • @Aikidopoi & yet it is built on those techniques. I would say that Ueshiba was just (if not more) peaceful & full of love than anyone in shintaido & yet he was also a supreme martial artist & more that capable of defending himself if needs be. Sure Aoki Sensei was (is) probably a pretty decent martial artist himself & quite capable in that area but not his successors. I think O Sensei got it right. However I also think that most Akidoka would benefit immensely if they would incorporate

  • @Aikidopoi many of the body work training methods used in Shintaido. As I said before, most Aikidoka by far do not practice too much of that kind of thing. O Sensei did a lot of very extreme Misogi practice which not too many modern Aikidoka do.

  • At last! A quality piece of shintaido production & presentation on youtube. Well done! More please!!!
