You should read some of his books. It turns out he really does give a crap about downtrodden blacks, he was brought up in a ghetto in West Detroit and his brother is in jail for murder. He doesn't necessarily condone rap, but, unlike you he discusses raps merits and faults intelligently. I doubt he really condoned the swastika. The thing I find so interesting about Katrina is that people love to blame Bush for everything wrong with that. Wasn't it the mayor or governor or something that didn't call in all the waiting buses to take the people out of the city? Wouldn't it be just as fair to say that the mayor/governor doesn't care about black people? And many of the people that died could have in fact gotten out. So maybe we should say that they don't care about themselves.

But, unlike Dyson ( and others like Sharpton ) I can disagree with Bush without carrying an overwhelming and uncontrollable hatred of him that causes me to blame him for things he simply should not be blamed for.
