And from what I experienced I can say that the males did not fight at all. But well ... they were brothers and there were no females around in their cage. Maybe that's why.
@1darkmesiah1 It's true mice are nocturnal, but that doesn't mean you will never see them. They usually start waking up around dusk and fall back asleep after dawn, so you'll see them around dinner time.
I tried two mice, but it's tough. One mouse always acts dominant over the other one, and they will fight from time to time. You absolutely have to get mice that are from the same litter or at least put them together when they are very very young. Males should not be kept together.
@1darkmesiah1 females should always be kept in groups of three, I see my mice ll the time, they really like to come out and play. They start playing around dusk and mine sleep around 11am if I keep the curtains closed so low light.
@1darkmesiah1 I own mice, and it is actually 3 females that are all white and from the same litter.
I agree that they should be from the same litter, although sometimes these girls squabble over being dominant (nothing very serious at all though).
The mice are awake intermittently throughout the day, so you will see them awake at various times, but yes, they do sleep a lot! :) They are fun to have, but I probably would never take them on vacation with me. Hope this helps!
My mice did this more as they got older and use to me, best way to train them to feel confortable is when they are half asleep start giving them a head scratch nearthe ear :D
@cswildmanlive How long are you holding them? They probably are scared if they poo on you. They do poo frequently but it shouldn't be that much. Just give them treats when you pick them up and be gentle, and spend time with them every day.
@jlauralee I'd hold it for like 30 seconds than it will end up peeing and pooping. Also when I give them a treat they just ignore it, when I try to pinch a seed in the cage they'll come up and give it one sniff and run away and wait until I leave the cage.. I never try picking the up by force (chasing them around the cage to pick them up)
Maybe I just have mice that just don't like humans?
@cswildmanlive Hmm. How long have you had them? Have you gotten a book about how to care for mice? In the back of one I saw tips on how to tame them. Anyway, the key is persistence. Just continue to stick your hands in their cage (slowly) so they are used to them and know they won't hurt them. Try giving them some other kind of treat.. like a small blob of peanut butter on your finger, or cracker/cookie piece, piece of banana... if u want more ideas u can email my username or message me.
Man.. I wish that my mouse sat still like that, I used to have one that whenever I would pet him in a certain spot on his head he would lick and groom me.
But this one is more manic and when I set him down anywhere he'll stand completely still and then haul ass for me and nuzzle underneath any limb of mine.
*sigh* this remember me my mouse called slash he was very lovely and very funny and i loved him......but now he is in the heaven, poor of my mouse, but now i have a bunny.....but anyways i will always remember slash, Good Luck slash. R.I.P slash :(
Aw, he reminds me of my little white female mouse. I saved her from an AP Biology teacher who was going to give her away to a snake owner (some student left her over the summer and he kept her until then). She was very stressed out and unhappy until I took her home. Now she's happy and very sociable. She loves to be taken out and played with, and holds completely still for me when I scratch her under the chin and behind the ears. She even closes her eyes a bit like she's really enjoying it :3
I used to have a mouse named Taavi who licked me when I scratched him like this. He died last November in the age of almost 3 years. I still miss him so much!
@TheGeneralsocks How long have you had your mouse? When you first get one, they are naturally going to be shy. We pinch a seed they like and just hold it in the middle of their cage until they come up on their own and grab it out of your finger tips. Do this a couple times a day, and they won't fear your hand anymore. Just teach them that they have nothing to fear from you, and that they'll get treats if they come close. Don't try to catch your mouse if it's running away from you in its cage.
Mice are nicer cheaper and much easier to handle and breed. Infact don't breed them trust me don't your house will be infested your internet will get messed up and they eat belts.
haha this mouse is pretty cool. i breed a bunch of mice for my snakes and its cool to see them as pets and not just food somtimes hahaha. cuz when i breed them i never get close em cuz they will be eatin. im sure it takes awhile for them to trust you that much though. pretty cooooooooool....
We never let our mice run around the kitchen or living room by itself. I'm sure the mouse would be quite happy doing so, but I'm not sure if we would be able to find it after an hour haha. We have 2 small aquariums and an old mouse house connected with tubes so our mouse has plenty of room to move around.
Aww!!!! Cute little critter. I personally prefer female mice over males. They seem to be less aggressive and more sweet, IMO. But this one seems to be just as sweet as my current one. :D
I love it. Most pet mice from pet stores do not bite -- particularly the males. I have had pet mice + rats and lots of them if handled daily are like this -- love to get scratched.
aww cute!!! some days ago i was gettin my two female mice out and one of them yawned and while she was gettin out of bed she stretched out and yawned again! tht was the first time i have seen a mouse yawn! i have had 3 mice and the ones i have now are my 4th and 5th. i was like tht is the first time i have seen a mouse yawn!!!! ur mouse it so cute :)
your mouse is very relaxed my first mouse Ziggy was like that best mouse ever he loves getting scratched on the ears you would hold him and pet him and he would fall asleep and put his little paw on your chest

We could pick up our mice within a week or two after buying them. It really just depends on the mouse.
yea thanks, my iv had her for 5 months now, she lets me handle her and kiss her, i tryed to scrach its neck like yu did in the vidio but she keeps shaking me off. I dont think she likes it =)
Sadly my mouse died last week. The cat ponuced on her when she was playing i didnt knowtis he was there and he may have crushed her skull. I wont go into much detail but she seamed fine after we called the Vet then she started internaly bleeding with sezures. Then she passed =(

I had many mice some years ago. I bought 2 females and one was already pregnant. Soon I had 2 cages (males and females seperated of course).
And from what I see in this video I can tell that your mouse loves his owners! GREAT JOB!
One of my rats acted the same when I scratched her cheeks :)

I'm thinking of getting a white mouse, but there are few things that bother me.
They are nocturnal, so does your mouse sleep whole day and act annoyed when you wake him up ?
Most ppl say that it is best to get 2 mice so they have company at night, preferably female.
Do you take your mouse with you when you go on a vacation ?
