The Pentecostal groups began early in the 1900's, the splitering quickly began over the doctrine of the Trinity verses the Oneness doctrine. The JW's were slightly before that by a couple of decades. That's a large part to the reason for the "33,000" denominations plus out there today.
Yes I can definitely agree to that, it's ironic Defender, here we are all this time feuding (Well I never wished for a feud) yet both Catholic and first fruit Protestant Reformers (Both Trinitarians) are in the Wrong according to many of these sects! A pity indeed!
Charles Taze Russell borrowed some of his beliefs from the SDA who began just a couple of decades before his creation of the JW's. They like the SDA have morphed as times have moved on.
Not to mention many Pentecostal groups started separating around that time (including many new ones were erupting all over the scene, taking advantage of the american dream)! Thus the spark of all these Denominations that we see everywhere.
I have had several encounters with the Jehovah's Witnesses. They don't come to my door very much anymoredespite the fact I canrun to their Kingdom Hall in 5The JW bible says, "In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was a god". The Catholic version ends..."and the Word was God". The JW's deny the Divinity of Christ. I compared several of the false prophecies of the JW's Second Coming of Christ.
Correct, when one translates it from direct manuscript and translates it to modern day tongue (today's vocabulary standards) it reads as follows "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" (when I mean direct manuscript I don't mean their 1960's NWT non sense, especially where they add their little sneaky "a" in-front of God aka "a God").
Watchtower folks are interesting indeed. I had a couple of them, at my door, try and convince me that my brother (who died over twenty years ago) was not really dead. Right.
haha thanks brother, nope no accent here (or do I?)! Yes I have a few that come to my door, I actually relish when they come. I admire their stamina but I don't bend to their doctrine, as a matter of fact they don't come as much, I find many of them do not know their own history via the NWT, Constant Watchtower Doctoral Changes, Prophecies rendered false which automatically disqualifies their Validity etc . . . how have you been man, hope all is well.
@mydollstuff
No I never was, I do have a couple of friends that are JW but I myself never was.
