Boxers can absolutely transition to Mixed Martial Arts just the same as any other martial artist can. Anyone who doubts boxings effectiveness is kidding themselves. However to say that in one year a boxer will have a polished set of tools to handle all aspects of MMA is undermining the the effectiveness that combat athletes from other sports such as BJJ and No Gi Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, Muay Thai, Kick Boxing, and a host of others. No one transitions to MMA easily.
@cLiPhEnGzT Would take a world champion boxer less than a year to learn how to defend a takedown and check a leg kick plus learn a few other skills at the same time. Its would take most MMA fighters a lifetime to achieve the boxing skills of the likes of Mayweather or Tyson. Toney was a shit example as he obviously didn't even think he needed to train, looked like absolute shit and got choked out and embarrassed. Boxers transition to MMA extremely easily.

There are scores of fighters fighting at professional level in MMA after only training for a fews years many of them coming from single discipline backgrounds such as wrestling, boxing, kick boxing and Jiu Jitsu. I can't name many professional boxers who have only been training for 3 years.
I think what Muspat is saying, is the fact that to be a great MMA fighter, one has to compete and learn/practice various disciplines for a good amount of time. In mixed Martial arts you need to learn a wide array of tool sets in order to have a positive win streak. Boxers only train in one discipline, but there are many Cans in boxing that will get outboxed by some MMA C level fighters, like Don Frye for example.

Actually (strikers) in general get beaten up more so than vice versa. It is extremely easy to get the takedown, and the fact that many grapplers who transition to MMA from many grappling disciplines do well compared to strikers says something about the importance of a ground game, and grappling skills. Many MMA fighters practice various disciplines, but there are many like you said who only practice other disciplines in three years or so.

@cLiPhEnGzT Would take a world champion boxer less than a year to learn how to defend a takedown and check a leg kick plus learn a few other skills at the same time. Its would take most MMA fighters a lifetime to achieve the boxing skills of the likes of Mayweather or Tyson. Toney was a shit example as he obviously didn't even think he needed to train, looked like absolute shit and got choked out and embarrassed. Boxers transition to MMA extremely easily.

There are scores of fighters fighting at professional level in MMA after only training for a fews years many of them coming from single discipline backgrounds such as wrestling, boxing, kick boxing and Jiu Jitsu. I can't name many professional boxers who have only been training for 3 years.

I think what Muspat is saying, is the fact that to be a great MMA fighter, one has to compete and learn/practice various disciplines for a good amount of time. In mixed Martial arts you need to learn a wide array of tool sets in order to have a positive win streak. Boxers only train in one discipline, but there are many Cans in boxing that will get outboxed by some MMA C level fighters, like Don Frye for example.

@combatesdeboxeo His punches at his prime were 590 KG hard (I read this a forum). And I think Fedor´s punches are like 400 - 450 KG. If not, he wouldn´t knock out fighter so often. A physical K.O. is only possible, if the punch is about 400 KG. Only dumb people think that a boxer could take on a MMA-fighter.

Actually (strikers) in general get beaten up more so than vice versa. It is extremely easy to get the takedown, and the fact that many grapplers who transition to MMA from many grappling disciplines do well compared to strikers says something about the importance of a ground game, and grappling skills. Many MMA fighters practice various disciplines, but there are many like you said who only practice other disciplines in three years or so.

I ve seen the Ali / Forman fight a million times, ive got original master copy of the fight, I dont think anyone hit harder than Foreman, and in that fight I have to admit Ali took some shots that even Fraser ( RIP) could not take, but in his prime i still believe Tyson would have no one to beat him.
If God have given Tyson a bit more intelligence as well he would have been one of the Great, but yes that title still still belongs to Ali.
