I lost my dear friend who was pregnant and was on the way to LAX to meet her husband. I was operating MH as Flight Attendant and normally SQ would be taking off before MH but on the actual day, MH flew earlier. Upon landing in LAX, we were surprised to see SQ006 were listed as cancelled on the arrival board. We were informed that SQ had crash upon take off when we arrived at the hotel. I lost 4 friends, including 3 cabin crew. May their souls Rest in Peace.

@jiannoi1993 Not quite right. It was a BA Concorde that flew in code sharing with SQ. If you look at pictures, you will see that one side of the plane was in BA, the other in SQ paint scheme. But SQ never owned a Concorde.

@playmovingpictures The pilot was told to taxi to runway 5L and responded to the radio command saying he was taxiing to 5L, however, he turned onto runway 5R which was closed. This is not the airport's fault. The pilot knew what runway he was supposed to go to but went to the wrong one.

ATC doesn't fly the plane, the pilot in command is responsible. In the US, the FARs state in Section 91.3(a) The pilot in command of an aircraft is directly responsible for, and is the final authority as to, the operation of that aircraft.

The same is likely true for other countries even if ATC is not paying attention, which does happen.
