  • vegetarian diets make your testosterone low, as a guy thats unacceptable sorry

  • They didn't get fat because they started eating meat, they got fat because they started eating sugary, processed junk food and leading more sedentary lives. The (traditional) Inuit people have a largely meat centered diet and they are also free of these illnesses associated with modern food. Sugar is more of a culprit than meat.

  • @elementz1986

I should emphasize that I am speaking of refined sugars.

  • @elementz1986 Inuit Greenlanders, who historically have had limited access to fruits and vegetables, have the worst longevity statistics in North America. Research from the past and present shows that they die on the average about 10 years younger and have a higher rate of cancer than the overall Canadian population. It's not just the sugar, my comment.

  • @scubarojo

Historically, cancer has not been high among the Inuit Greenlanders. When Western influence came to Greenland (via the Danish), alcoholism became the new epidermic along with a whole host of problems from cancer to diabetes. This can be attributed to the importation of beer and processed foods. Life in the arctic is a pretty hardscrabble existence and the life expectancy of 68.3 years can't conclusively be drawn to diet.

  • I don't think everyone's dietary needs are the same, some people do well on one diet and poor on another. What is missing from this video about the American diet is the horribly way meat and dairy are processed today (filled with hormones and other drugs) and the overly used sucrose and fructose with decreased fiber intake. This doctor is missing many of these key points here. High sugar intake causes heart disease, this was uncovered way back in the 70s, something this doctor obviously missed.

  • @Typhoonbladefist Wrong! The only diet proven in studies to reverse heart disease is a diet like this man (dr.mcdougall) is talking about.-A high carb low fat plant based diet free of meat and oils. Read dr.esselstyn's book prevent and reverse heart disease. Yes when people take the meat and dairy and added oils to their diet they get much better as long as they are eating plenty of calories from whole plant foods

  • @82Bdog wait a damn second, I never said meat and dairy were bad, the way they are processed today isn't all that great and requires rigid sterilization. I prefer raw milk and raw fish as well as cows that aren't raised in a fucking factory that require tons of antibiotics just so the meat can legally be sold without killing people through salmonilla poisoning. All carbs are not created equal, when doctors say high carb diet they don't mean scarf down sugar. Go listen to Dr. Lustig.

  • @Typhoonbladefist My post meant to say when they took OUT the meat and dairy and oils they got better as long as they were eating plenty of calories from whole plant foods ( mainly starches for the calories-rice,potatoes,corn,millet,quinoa,etc. Raw fish or grass fed animals is still putting too much fat in the diet. All of the longest-lived healthiest populations ever studied ate high carb-low fat plant based diets and meat was always a very small percentage 2% or less. Read the book.

  • Sorry, I'm no caveman. Processed people? More like processed facts.

  • @ProfMike789 What?

  • 1:13 - jurassic park t-shirt xD

  • We all eat natural at home, pets included. My dogs have their raw meat, bones and some vegetables and people have fruits, grains, vegetables, honey, plenty of fresh water, sea salt... My husband and I are 43 and haven't got any medical issue so far...

  • A plant based diet is still going to kill you if it contains additives.

  • Fruits, all raw, is best for human beings. I agree with @VedicIntelligentsia that a couple vegetables here and there wont hurt, but your diet should be at least 90% fruit by calories, if not 100%. Check out my account to see what a 100% fruitarian is capable of

  • A diet that consists of only fruits and vegetables is going to be too low in protein, for one thing, and most likely iron, calcium, B12, etc. I'm not an expert on the subject, but my view is that while it MIGHT be possible to get everything, it has to be incredibly difficult and I can't see why anyone would want to try to manage it.

I'm vegan, and I eat from the 4 real food groups: fruits, veggies, grains, and legumes. Some of these foods must be cooked. I eat fortified foods to get B12.

  • @kimberlily1983 ... I eat this way because I don't believe in oppressing, abusing, and killing others for my own trivial purposes (like enjoying the way they taste). I've also, as a bonus, discovered that being vegan comes with many health benefits; I've never felt better. :)

There are good, solid reasons for giving up animal products. I can't see any such reasons for giving up beans, lentils, grains, and cooked foods in general, which seem to me to be necessary components to good health.

  • these japanese people ate fish, fucking vegans need to get off there high horse and start using common sense.

  • @Crazyman1212 yes those immigrants ate fish and meat but a mere fraction of what the average american was eating. What the good doctor observed has been observed by others, it is well accepted.

That is what people don't get - if you go to japan today you will see people eating shit but most days they go home and have a healthy dinner along side 90yo grandma. A little fish is common but not a pound of steak each. You just don't see that unless you live with them.

  • @imnotabear ofcourse it's all about moderation, americans also have WAY TOO MUCH sugar, salt, and fat....it's not all about what they eat as so much how much there eating, most things are healthy in moderation.

  • @Crazyman1212 It IS about what you eat. It's not about moderation. You don't "moderately" pollute your body. Would you knowningly put something harmful in your car? How well do you think it would drive? Your body IS a temple. What you put it in directly affects your mental and emotional health. Don't believe me, do your own research.

  • @SandCmpbll i said it's not "Always" about what you eat and moderation is key....too much of any one thing is bad for your body. Don't compare a car to the human body, the human body is alot stronger then you think but if you constantly abuse one thing to excess on a daily basis there will be side effects sometimes irreversible. it's not that meats bad or unhealthy it's that the way in which it is cooked and mostly likely having some sort of sauce packed with salt and sugar or butter on it.

  • @imnotabear It's not "a little". It's a hefty portions of fish they're eating, along with plenty of other types of sea food. Some meat is infinitely different to the no meat veganism entails. And like all civilizations, they eat what is readily available to them. The true eskimos were never at risk for what diseases we have today until they got in touch with modern society. Real meat is not the problem, if it was how do you explain the strong health of people leaving in colder climates.

  • He is so right. I know a beautiful Vietnamese medical technician who told me one day: "We eat VERY little fat. Our family boils or steams most of our vegetables." She is so slender and beautiful, too! And no, it's not "genetics" either because her cousin eats the American way and is extremely overweight.

  • I find a high fruits diet with vegetables and sprouts works for me. I consume a little bit of seeds and nuts also for a treat now and then.

He is right about how the american meat diet is the cause for sickness. Most meat and dairy raised in america is unhealthy. Organic meat and dairy is alot healthier; however any meat and dairy should not be consumed too often.

A diet high in cooked foods even if it isn't processed is even bad. Raw fruits and vegetables are optimal for health.

  • these meat eating people will never understand drawbacks until the symptoms start appearing after the age of 40

  • @dream2last

I became vegetarian at the age of 28 ( I am 29 now)

Glad I got the point before 40 ;-)

  • @gregg4 right decision, i was late after 40 i became vegetarian

  • @dream2last, I've been through it all since 1984, and been athletic and slender the whole time, age 42 now, I've been through the dietary extremes and cleansing, and maintaining, and clearly my body has shown that animal flesh and products, in addition to cooked food(cooking made us human), have been vital for best health, in addition to the various plant foods too, as the body desires and indicates, to perform best in life. Look at human history, besides your own body's 'wisdom'.

  • @dream2last, many of us are former vegan/raw/fruit/lfrv diet people, and we regained better health going on the SHD, not SAD, after years in the vegan/raw/fruit/lfrv direction.

Watch out for these changes: cracks in skin(lips, hands, etc. due to too much sugar and lack of animal fat and protein), weaker skin, lesser vitality, poorer skin tonality, 'odd' behavior, increased tooth decay. These conditions are more common in the vegan/raw/fruit/lfrv direction compared to the SHD direction.

  • @dream2last Yup... and even then, I know people in their 50s and 60s that have had heart attacks and stents installed that still don't want to change their diet. Sigh.

  • learning not to over eat is where you start being healthy. You strain your body when you stuff yourself. Meat is actually good for you- if you eat meat that is naturally raised because it will have higher more omega 3 fats- incl. grass fed beef. Raw milk is healthy and so is cheese made from raw milk. Most people go for junk food, pizza, spam and sugary cereals and soda.

A Chinese man told me that Asians are not lactose intolerant; milk is not available to all.

  • seeking 4 ppl in IL to discuss z problem of UC 972 ( israel ) 050 5 655 130

  • Great video. I'm gonna poke around at the website.

  • The best diet is the rawfood diet.

Ninety percent fruits and ten percent tender green leafy vegetables is ideal.

  • I thrive on it. I lift weights and I have no problems. You have to eat high calorie fruits like, banana, mango, papaya, pear, pineapple etc. Do some research.

  • A lot of people are allergic to banana, mango, papaya and pineapple. :/

  • Comment removed

  • On what do you base this?

(note: this is a response to vedicintelligentisa's statement... I haven't yet gotten used to how YouTube queues up these responses)

  • @VedicIntelligentsia

Not true... More like 90% veggies.. the rest fruit/nuts/seeds

  • @VedicIntelligentsia, nonsense, cooking made us human, in addition to being omnivores. Your body will make it clear in due time.

  • @VedicIntelligentsia, not at all, cooking made us human, and healthy

  • @VedicIntelligentsia for gorillas and chimpanzees, not humans over the long term

  • Asian in the third world do not eat meat for many reason and one is that it is costly. Some do choose to eat mainly vegetarian but the real reason is meat is expensive.

  • True

  • These are good reasons to go vegan although you actually should do it anyway because animals don't desereve the treat we gave them...

    Whatever... GO VEGAN!

  • Great video! Thanks to Dr. McDougall, hypnosis and exercise I lost over 100 pounds and I have kept it off for 14 years.
