Anyone picked to be on the show (odds are really slim) will have massive exposure.....so a following will quckly be acquired. Carrie had an instant fan base before being signed to a label. It's like winning a Vegas jackpot.

Having said that - even though Carrie can sing - is good looking - is popular - gets awards - is successful - I myself (and many others) don't like "the package" and would not spend a nickel on it. Why? There are probably many reasons. For me, one major reason is - its so "contrived". Typical cookie cutter pop. After winning the big singing contest the country music producers were probably drooling to sign her - she would be the perfect new pop country star that would make lots of money - the darling of country music like Dolly was. So Carrie can cover or copy other artists - like Guns n Roses - Wow - then by all means listen to her instead of them. Yes - she won Idol - but sung other people's songs. She's a great imitator.

She is a good singer, but in my opinion - not a "great" singer. She is what I call a "manufactured" star. As an example - years ago you had the Beatles - then came the Monkees - intended to be a "Beatle-like" band - put together to make records and a TV show - totally contrived - they were a success - but it was a joke to serious music appreciators. There are so many truly great singers out there - but you will never hear of them - they didn't win the big contest.

Having said that - even though Carrie can sing - is good looking - is popular - gets awards - is successful - I myself (and many others) don't like "the package" and would not spend a nickel on it. Why? There are probably many reasons. For me, one major reason is - its so "contrived". Typical cookie cutter pop. After winning the big singing contest the country music producers were probably drooling to sign her - she would be the perfect new pop country star that would make lots of money - the darling of country music like Dolly was. So Carrie can cover or copy other artists - like Guns n Roses - Wow - then by all means listen to her instead of them. Yes - she won Idol - but sung other people's songs. She's a great imitator.
Who gives a rats ass. But who is - what is Carrie? What puts her in a class by herself? She doesn't even know. She was flung into the big leagues before developing her own distinct and unique sound - whereas other artists already had "their sound" before making it big.

Apparently you havent even tried to learn about Carrie, she has two albums out now and shes working on her 3rd album. Most bands do cover songs so thats not even a legitimate complaint and she tours mainly on her own music. She was a co-writer on her last album and shes writing even more on her new album. If you dont like her thats your choice but dont dismiss her as if she has no real talent in singing or writing, she has the album sales, fans and awards to prove otherwise.

She is a good singer, but in my opinion - not a "great" singer. She is what I call a "manufactured" star. As an example - years ago you had the Beatles - then came the Monkees - intended to be a "Beatle-like" band - put together to make records and a TV show - totally contrived - they were a success - but it was a joke to serious music appreciators. There are so many truly great singers out there - but you will never hear of them - they didn't win the big contest.

I agree about Carrie, but Britney worked with Disney when she was like 11. Then she stopped, and years later got a record deal with Jive. She traveled the country doing lame ass mall tours just to get her name recognized. Its not fair to compare her to someone who just entered a talent contest because she did work pretty hard to get her record deal, it wasnt just handed to her.
