To those opponents of same sex marriage that quote the bible as if it is authoritative over the actions of the state, your religious beliefs don't matter. We are a secular nation established as such by our founding fathers. Rights are not subject to your approval. Let God's law be for God's people and leave the rest of the country alone. We took a biblical route because that is what opponents to gay marriage have used as their defense. We need more than a cant we all get along tactic; we must be strategic. The civil rights movement wasnt just about holding hands and singing We Shall Overcome. Brown vs. the Board of Education was won because Thurgood Marshall and the NAACP proved a fallacy in a segregated legal system of Separate but Equal. We too must end the fallacy Gay Marriage is about religion. It is a Civil Right.

I see that not all of the bible has been told here.God advocates that if a believer is married to an unbeliever and the unbeliever leaves,the believer isn't bound to remain married.This would violate that.

It's true that is in the Bible but unlike the "command" from God (subsequently supported and expanded upon by Jesus) which prohibited divorce (by the way it was actually Moses who allowed for divorce based on fornication-that wasn't the original intent of God) this "get out of MARRIAGE free card" is only a suggestion from Paul to the people of Corinth that seemed "right" to him.  We agree but hey we have to draw the line somewhere...I mean we don't want to start talking about stoning do we?
