  • GO JOE ELLIOT!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw them in 1979 with ACDC and Bon Scott was still alive and that was their first American tour, so I think you are mistaken.

  • Great song but it should have been called Hello California. I didn't hear him mention any any place else in the song!!

  • You can really see the influence of UFO in this video!

  • This brings back great memories. I saw them on their first American tour, opening for AC/DC on the Hell's Bells tour in New York City.

  • @gorillamummy want a medal?

  • @MurkyVids Yeah, it's overdue.

  • I am absolutely delighted to find this ......I thought I was the only one left who played this song loud in my car reminding teenagers what REAL rock sounds like!

  • I, for one, am glad that they didn't give up on Rick Allen after losing his arm in that car accident. The fact that he learned to play the drums with one arm is nothing short of phenomenal.

  • I've watched every video you have of Def Leppard! Thanks for sharing. I thought I was a true Def Leppard fan, but alot of these songs, I have not heard & yes, I loved all of them! You're awesome!! Again, Thanks for sharing!!

  • accually he wasnt kicked out they waited for him to get help with his drinking died as a member of the band

  • You know a song is amazing like this one when it makes your ears pop.

  • FUCK YEAH!!!!

    LEP ROCKS!!! \m/\m/

  • Dear Def Leppard: Please make some cool songs like you used too. Your old fans miss you...

  • @deflepbabe I agree 1 million %

  • is tony kenning in this or rick

  • @216rock4ever Rick

  • @216rock4ever it is rick because tony left the band before they made a album.

  • @cumbygirl2 thanx :)

  • awsome guitar

  • Bon Scott Clone!!!!!

  • steve solo nice! Steveのsoloもっと聴きたかった...

  • THIS IS SO BADASS first time ive ever seen joe do at least a lil headbang haha

  • awsome and classic song! its a shame this song isnt on their greatest hits! :(

  • Hello America!

  • 24 hours and I will be seeing them!! CANT WAIT

  • There's something about awesome bands's debut albums. Particularly Def Leppard's On Through The Night. I keep using this word but it's epic.

  • fuck this shit...Im gonna go listen to the Germs or some Bad Religion......guitar heros can keep them solos.!

  • Great underrated Def Lep tune!

  • @soulsofrebellion11 Better then post hystaria.

  • I have posted in the past, if Mutt hadn't come along, Def Lepp would have been a much more progressive rock band.

  • ricks kit is so cool! i wanna start drumming...

  • If Leppard had kept the same sound as on their first album, they would not have crossed over into the main stream of music and became the uber successful musicians they are. No band wants to continue to make the same album over and over again. They grow as musicians and as people. As for Def Leppard, they have always been about the melody; thats why their music is timeless and each new generation that hears it will love it.

  • Just a quickresponce to this idiotic quote "When they were Rock N Roll, not the sissyyfied, commerical, sellout crap they became in the last 20 years." Musicians are not doing charity work. They are out there doing what they love and to make a living doing it. Every musician dreams of commercial success, as the window of opportunity in that business is very small. Bands start out very young and raw and hopefully have their talent harnessed like Mutt did for Leppard.

  • Saw them open for Ozzy b4 Randy was killed both band original lineups at Music Mountain in NYS....Fucking unreal amphitheater show.....

  • whata good times!!

  • From their "Yop Of the Pops" Video, which din't air because it didn't make it..Bad luck!

  • pete willis quit the band because he thought they only be a small band and got what he wanted a chick out of it!! he tried to sue for rights and loss in 1984.. watch def leppard live and watch phil collen play acustic he is awsome to watch.

  • I miss Steve.. His Guitaring was beautiful. there is no other words for it.

  • @Curran9415 I miss Steve.. And i wonder also.

  • Love the part @ 2:35!

  • they are all so cute! even steve! hes sexy. even pete! enven tho i dont know him!!!!

  • @paulmccartneyishot STEVE THE MOST

  • @paulmccartneyishot The cutests are Rick, Pete and Steve <3 :DD

  • Excuse me, STEVE CLARK, I got my names wrong. Thumbs up! He played from the heart. In my opinion. there'll never be a replacement for him, although, they still remain high quality rock and roll.

  • Excuse me, STEVE CLARK, I got my names wrong.

  • Rick Clark wasn't kicked out. Yeah, he came close but he was well beloved by Joe and the rest of the band. And when on stage, Rick wasn't drunk. His idea was if he could be on stage 24/7 he wouldn't take a drink. Tell me I'm wrong Joe, you know more than anyone.

  • @mhorace515 ya mean Steve Clark,right?

  • PETE WILIS WAS DEF LEPPARD!!

He recorded ALL the rhythm on Pyromania.

When they were Rock N Roll, not the sissyyfied, commerical, sellout crap they became in the last 20 years.

  • @ultrachasersfan Too bad he was a drunk...

  • @krazykane100 Yeah, according to Def Leppard, who at the time were in the process of selling out their sound. Coincidently of course...

  • never realised - such a cool keyboard is under all this in the mix .

  • This reminds me of my buddy Jack who passed away about a decade ago. He loved this song. I remember crusing around LA Harbor and San Pedro listening to this song. This is for you big guy! I miss you!!

  • Pete was a good guitarist, he just couldn't leave the bottle alone long enough to play well!

  • God, how strange to think this was 30 years ago. Sorry for all the post "High and Dry" crowd, but this album was the best thing DL ever did.

  • RIP Steve Clark.. Def Lep is one of my all time favorite bands.

  • This clip was filmed for,but never shown on "The Top of the Pops" BBC=Tv Program, according to the Comp "Historia",calling it their "Skeleton in our closet"!

  • Pete was a drunk cause his dad used to best him all the time, pete left the band after this video,he did nt think leppard wa going to amonut to any thing so in came collins ( a great guitarist) then you got steve clark he was also there he and phil used to party together , pete couldn't rock like rik savage, steve and collins

  • @markc51569 Pete was kicked out of the band for being so pissed he couldn't even find the neck of the guitar, well documented...and who the fuck is 'collins?' he was in Genesis wasn't he? .....fucking muppet

  • @markc51569, you obviously don't know Def Lep history much at all. Pete Willis stuck around to record and tour the High 'N' Dry album as well.

  • Best era, NWOBHM rules!

  • I've never understood the argument that you can't get any power playing traditional grip. EVER HEARD OF RICK ALLEN?!

  • Wow. Awesome! I love Def Leppard. I love love looooove Steve :] RIP

    Now this is music!

  • back when def leppard was cool and before that fag joined the band and made them glam!

  • @NIKKGAGE1994 I am assuming by "that fag", you are referring to Phil Collen, and his time in 'Girl'? Funny thing, that, considering all the photo's of "that fag" kissing another guy are of him and Steve Clark. Were they gay, or was it all a lark? I don't claim to know, and frankly, I don't care. The music is what it's all about, and the music rocks.

  • really fuckin' NWOHBM uffff :) So Great

  • def leppard 4ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

R.I.P Steve Steamin Clark 1 of the best guitarists of all time (april 1960-Jan. 8,1991)

  • def leppard 4ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • In high school ,i read Circus mag.......I read about some band from the U.K. named Def Leppard.............Iron Maiden was the other (Paul Dianno-vocal) I bought, On Through the Night, and Iron Maiden--1. OH and ...2112(RUSH)................now its e.l.p./some c.s.n.y. maybe peter tosh then some stevie ray vaughn......lets end it on, vaughn.......i'm not gonna say he is god......but... oh ,.......R.I.P.-rory gallagher

  • ¿Who On stage is Steve Clark and what guitar to play him?

  • DEF LEPPARD---"HELLO AMERICA"

  • I always liked Rick Allens' drumming on Def Leppard's earlier music. It was such a tragedy when he lost his arm, and I give him and the rest of the band such applause for carrying on and still making some great music in their later years.

My favs are still their first 3 albums though! I liked em' better when they had a harder edge.

  • From the almost retired record rack...Not!

Bought this in record around June of '80, and oldie but a goodie!

  • Defleppardfan919 is soooo wrong,Pete is way better than phil

  • @PeteWillisLover1011 Nah Deflappardfan919 is right Pete need to get kicked out. It actually helped him

  • Pete needs to rejoin the band, kick Vivian out

  • @PeteWillisLover1011 Totally agree with you! DL's not the same with Viv

  • God, it would be nice to have some good rock and roll like this again! What the hell happened to these guys!

  • 2:04-2:43 Steve Clark at his best.....30 second guitar solo, and 9 seconds singing with Joe. DAMN GOOD STUFF

  • @TRICITYDIESEL To bad def leppard stoped being a rock band =[

  • they havent performed anything off this album since the mid 80's

  • @jmanideth that would be wrong, they play Wasted on occasion on recent tours

  • un groupe maudits, mais tres fort

  • The British hated them at the start saying they were selling out to America. I must say that the one thing they never got right was their videos. Most of them were crap. Still like the band though

  • From "Hystoria"..the "Top of the Pops" clip..their "Skeleton from our closet",as they wrote on the bumper of the video comp! Michael Boyce

  • Hello crackles and shit audio quality

  • Wow...I never even knew there was a music video for this. I actually kind of like their first album, although this song above might be the only one on there that sounds anything like their later material.... A Cool little song...

  • great first album remember79!!!

  • They still had a raw hard edge to them here. I love this shit. Wasted was our anthem. And yes we got fucking wasted. Oh yes if I could only be young , dumb, and wasted like I was back then, well at least for a couple of weeks again.

  • when they where a rock band .

  • This is the B-side original to Wasted (both tracks re-mixed and softened for the album) - Saw them backing up AC/Dc at Hammy Odeon in'79. so impressed went to see them at Marquee - up front - Joe cam on and started the We Hate the Mods singing...fighting all the way home on th etube with Mods and skins........great Days

  • just a question, i have the old olld records of on through the night and high n dry, and idk what album me and my wine is on because its not ON my records =[[[ so which album is me and my wine from?

  • @defAlixxRockIt61348 Me And My Wine was an early EP released by the band. I have it somewhere, but I can't remember the other tracks on it off the top of my head.

  • @rockandroll63 haha i was sooo wondering! because its probably my favorite lepp video EVER! like when steve kicks joe and falls back and hits his head lmao. but then i go to listen to it and look on high n dry and OTTN and im like..ummm xD if you remember please let me know! haha i'll most definitely get it! thanks =]

  • @defAlixxRockIt61348 Y'know, I was completely wrong! I've got most of Def Leppard's early single releases, including the rare Getcha Rocks Off EP. I dragged out my vinyl singles and Me And My Wine is actually the B-side of the single release of Bringin' On The Heartbreak (1981).

  • @rockandroll63 you know, i think i even knew that before haha i remember now joe sayin something like that in one of the dvds in the interview thats awesome though thank you =] i thought it was more of high n dry! =]

  • def sorry but this song is from the on through the night album i have it

  • awesome freaking song ty mutt for leppard

  • @markc51569 ..Mutt had nothing to do with this song or On through The Night. thank the guys in Leppard for becoming Leppard. They all have/had talent.

  • lmao i love the interviews of joe saying, idk why the hell the drums were in front hahahahahaha kick ass song like usual =] love def leppard

  • Epic

  • Here is how you can have fun with anyone that claims to be a DL fan. Play any song from this album with out telling them the name of the band and ask them to guess what band this is... Works every time. IMO, DL's best album!!!

  • @erikcartmenez cuz they'll say ac/dc haha xD

  • Hw many albums have the guys made? With orwithout Mutt or and arm. This one is great.

  • @lukemanify 13 =] OTTN, HND, Pyro, Hysteria, Adrenalize, retro activ, slang and i forget the order from there but theres euphoria, x, vault, rock of ages, yeah!, and the last is songs from sparkle lounge

  • great song great album great band : ]

  • Yeah Hello AMerica, when you gonna wake the fuck up

  • only leff depard song that I like...

  • @uzickismrad Try Let It Go, Rock Of Ages, Foolin, Mirror Mirror, High 'N Dry, Too Late For Love, Hysteria, Pour Some Sugar on Me

  • If Rick Allen would still have two arms, he would officially beat Bonzo at drumming.

  • this is the leppard i like, b4 they sold out !

  • @paddlefoot01 yup

  • @paddlefoot01 They sold out on/after Hysteria after getting a tax-avoiding status like Iron Maiden. The music got sour even before that but then there were a millionaire less.

  • now this is fu@#king Def leppard!!!

  • Pete is actually doing pretty good,he owns and runs his own management company in Sheffield.

  • I really like the early years of Def Leppard. I like the Hysteria Era and all but I prefer 1980-83 Era.

  • why is rick savage in the back of the room?

  • I think they had the drums up front because Rick Allen was so short. Put that kit up on the back stage and you couldn't see him. My theory.

  • I like all versions of Def Leppard, but this is undoubtedly their best incarnation. So energetic, tight, and without any care but rockin'..........and also without anyone telling them what to do (i.e. Mutt Lange).

  • they were all so young recording this. rick allen is 15 I think yeah baby !!!!!

  • i seriously thought that was Bon Scott singing for a minute there especially with the striped shirt and the hair,

  • How beautiful they are.

  • the intro blows your ears off!!!

  • yeah rock

  • Wow, a True "Metal" Version of Def Leppard! well, in a British 1980 sorta way!

  • I wish all their songs had DNB remixes.

  • A superior rock band! One of the greatest. Better I think than Stones.

    Mickeba

  • I don't agree!

It is true they where GOOD together but as 'lame' as the songs were after pyromania i cant say there was some Great Hard Crazy Rock riffs and solos that would have proved how GREAT phil is as song maker! Can you?

But Steve and Phil! YEAH! Those where one of the best riff masters and song makers ever! They maby where not BEST friends but is Def Leppard about friendship with Steve Clark and Phil Collen? no.

Long Live EP!On trough the night High 'n' Dry!

  • lol :D steve and phil wasnt best song makers :D steve and pete was best

  • @mirrorr2 OOOPS! my bad :P i ment steve and pete

  • joe elliot at the beginning is so robert plant..

    mutt lange made him.

  • Def Leppard was allways 'Hard Rock' band!

It's guitarist were Pete Willis and Steve Clark.

    Def leppard made 3 albums.

Pop leppard is a 'pop rock band'! Its guitarist ''are''

    Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell.

Pop Leppard made all the rest albums.

  • U r so right. lol.

  • Amen to that, Vukboy.

  • but phil with steve were best friends and they are amazing together.....

  • great vid - is this from the old grey whistle test?

  • Young and wild!!! Luv it!!I love it for years!! Steve is forever with us!

  • @mihellmi So true! Def Leppard at their best.

  • steve clark RIP

  • Mutt Lange had a lot to do with the success of Def Leppard.

  • thats true but without steves riffs and phils awesome guitar playing and joes vocals and ricks great drumming at the age of only 16 years old, mutt had alot to work with

  • @Dyna6363 well never

  • @Dyna6363 alot ?ha had everything to do with it ..

  • @Dyna6363 that depends on your point of view and where you think they really started taking off. He had nothing to do with this album (On Through The Night) but yes, he did come on board with "High N' Dry" and to be honest I wish he'd come back because I think he's as much a part of their sound as anyone. Unfortunately they'll probably never be as good as they were because of the absence of Steve Clark though.

  • @Colierrannd2 Steve Clark was their Keith Richards.

  • HEY ---HAPPY BIRTHDAY PETE WILLIS!

  • Great fucking song!!! Early Def Leppard rocks!!!

  • this is when they were a rock band after pyromania they were shite

  • @bexncrab That is true! Hysteria was the biggest shit ever! Long live On trough the night! EP!

    !!! High 'n' Dry!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Those are good songs. Not as powerful as the early days, but they're still awesome and so is "Rocket".

  • I respect your opinion, i like some of Pyromania but i don't like anything after that. They lost that raw rock n roll sound they once had. They became to much of a pop outfit. Way over produced, just my opinion.

  • this song was released on April 1st 1980

  • i take it that this was really ols song that they made, its pretty good

  • c'mon--Pete Willis

    Where the F are you?

  • @leplovrpetefan Still in rehab? Kidding!

  • @leplovrpetefan he's next to joe most of the time isn't he?

  • @leplovrpetefan At the pub.

  • @leplovrpetefan Drunk, somewhere?

  • @leplovrpetefan

After On Thru the Night and the High and Dry releases, Pete was pretty much fired/"let go" from the band, due to excess pints at the pub, so to speak. I read on Wikipedia awhile back that since the Dep days, he's quite a successful real estate agent in the UK.

  • @leplovrpetefan Look for the shortest one. Lol

  • @leplovrpetefan I know huh....i agree...he was so bad ass and so ahead of his time, where the hell is pete willis?

  • @sterIingwolf He was kicked out because he was a constant drinker, and a bastard when drunk. Phil Collen is much better. He could do what Pete couldn't.

  • @DefLeppardFan919 He might a been a drinker but he was a badass guitar player and ten times the rocker Phil Collen will ever be. They were so much better with Pete.

  • @stringbenderE2E What good is all that talent if your an unreliable drunk? Many unemployed talented drunks in all walks of life

  • @stringbenderE2E Have you not read the Def Leppard Biography? Maybe you should, because you would know that Pete was fucked up. He couldn't play at all, because he was drinking to much. Everyday he was stumbling into the studio, and he spent 2 days on a solo that he could even finish! Then he was fired, and Phil nailed the same solo in 2 tries. Pete might have been a decent player, but his drinking fuck that all up. At least Steve was never drunk on stage or in the studio!

  • @DefLeppardFan919 I'm aware of all that. I just like the Def Lep version with him in it much better: a lot more raw, powerful and rockin. You want to hear something bad, listen to Collen's solo on Rock Brigade after he joined (it's on here) ... it's horrible.

  • @stringbenderE2E Listen to Stage fright or Photograph.

  • I don't think so Phil is not credited with one song with Def Leppard while Pete has 3 Albums , ooops I mean CD'S

and what is it that Pete couldn't do?

  • @lewis121701 He isn't credited? He has 8 studio albums in which he is credited. And I already had to explain what Pete couldn't do. I guess I was a little brutal. He was a decent guy to admit what I already knew. I knew that he had been a sad, angry drunk. He couldn't play live or in the studio without drinking. AND there were times where he would drink in the middle of a show, leaving guitar duty to Steve. I've read the biography and watched MANY interviews. I know what I'm talking about.

  • From what I remember they were all drunks not just Pete , 20 years old , have millions of quid ( Pounds ) in the bank and they enjoyed the fruit of there labor. The next time I'm twenty and rich I'll try to remember not 2 have fun and be arrogant. Phil went along for the ride if it wasn't for Pete getting fired he would still be playing with the old Rod Stewert ( Faces ) wanna be bands ( Lucy, Girl , Dumb Blonds ).

  • @lewis121701 Of course they were all drunks! But he was worse than all them, and his body couldn't take it! Why do people like you say "What if?" when you don't know what would really happen? The fact is that Phil is more talented, and he wasn't drunk in the studio. Pete was.

  • @lewis121701 Some people in any line of work can party and drink and still get up in the morning show up for work and do their job, and others can't. The ones who can't, get shitcanned
