  • I'll never forget the three Spitting Images specials back in the eighties. The two part Down and Out In the White House, The Ronny and Nancy Show, and The 1987 Awards Show. Great and hysterical. Too bad it never caught on in America, but I guess the humor is even more idosycratic than other imported British shows and one would need to know the political identiity of the characters to get the humor. The Margaret Thatcher stuff was laugh out loud. Probably better than Meryl Streep's Iron Lady.

  • replace all jeremy kyle pish with this, pure classic

  • We need this show back. Times are so bad right now it'd never run out of material or viewers.

  • We need this back now as much as we needed it in the eighties for much of the same reasons. A smile in worrying times.

  • Let's petition ITV to bring it back :D

  • Anyone else think the John Major puppet looks a little like Stephen King?

  • I-am-my-own-man! I-am-my-own-man! I-am-my-own-man!

  • sadly i was born on the year it was ended

  • i just wanna punch ant n dec in the mouth but im worried they might like it.

  • Spitiing image could be, and usually was, savage. It was annoying that the Ant + Dec puppets were so sympathetically caricatured - clearly not a product of the original team. Nowadays, with countless celebrity obsessed squealing chavs ready to bust a nut if their darling(s) of the minute are publicly ridiculed, I don't know if Spitting Image would have such a broad appeal.

kers80bhp - Many, many, many thanks for posting all 7 parts of this.

  • Does anyone have the clip where John Major, Neil Kinnock and (whoever the third man is) sing the 'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life' parody?

  • @shermanvermin76 poor old Paddy Ashdown not even remembered

  • @jalexstone Actually I had an *idea* that was Paddy Ashdown, especially since there was John Major (who was leader of the Conservatives at the time) and Neil Kinnock (leader of the Labours at the time); Paddy Ashdown was the Liberal Democrats leader at the time.

Anyway, I know you might not have this clip, but that was my question. Have you seen the Arnie song from 1991? I've asked a question on *that* video but no-one's *answered* that.

  • This rocks, hard. If spitting image and southpark where have premiered and aired at the same time, no one would know what south park was.

    THIS IS BRILLIANT PARODY!

  • The Chicken song is just legendary! XD

And does anyone know what the "Shout" parody is called?

  • I want this show on the air so bad. I was too young and too american to watch it back in the 80's.

  • they need to revive this show, do a puppet of gordon brown, that'll show the bastard!

  • What year was this made? I can have a crack at dating it from the hair of Ian Hislop and Alistair McGowan, but I'd like to know for sure.

  • Thumbs up if you think this show deserves to be re-aired in today's style!

  • Ant and dec are a pair of pricks, not worthy of spitting image

  • i just totally realised that after seeing doug naylor that Rob Grant is on this lol he nowhere to be seen on the extras for the red dwarf dvds nice to see him i suppose but wish he would bury the hatchet with doug so we could get his opinion on some of the dwarf stuff.

then again i say that is he on the bodysnatchers collection in places i cant remember

  • Every Bomb You Make was incredibly impressive.

  • Which president were they referring to when they said "idiot" in the White House? Reagan, Bush, or Clinton?

  • @rubinoos1 all of them!

  • @rubinoos1 take your pick....... (reagan)

  • A classic. This show needs a revival :D

  • wow, lol, i think im starting to love politics. How could I have thought it was boring?!

  • Bring back Spitting Image!!!!!!!!!!

  • we're going need you back now!!!!

  • Who's that boring bloke with the glasses!?

    Oh dear!

  • Damn, we need this show in the US! Funny and witty stuff right there. I remember watching the Ronnie and Nancy Show when i was 4 back in 88'. We taped it and I would watch it over and over again!

    XD

  • Those who loved SI should disavow any hopes of a return. As was pointed out here, it was a creature perfectly suited to its era. A revival would be shameful. Honor the memory of its creators by watching for contemporary comedy that is timely and original. You won't be finding much of it on television, but...hey, you're visiting YouTube so you've already got the equipment you need, right?

  • Not a single mention of chris barrie... :(

  • I would love to see a cameron puppet.

    And boris johnson :)

  • we're scared of bob. bring back spitting image we need it in the uk....

  • I can't believe there wasn't any mention of Chris Barrie!

  • Some people who just cry out for a Spitting Image Puppet - Simon Cowell, Boris Johnson, Gordon Ramsay!!

  • Gordon Ramsey already looks like and acts like a puppet! hahaha!

  • Yeh but it's like Enfield say... how in God's name do you caricature Boris and make him funnier than he already is?

  • @FulchesterUnited Turn him in to a dog...

  • Damn, what a great show...! There should be a Spitting Image Hall of Fame established in its honour!

  • " we scared of bob, we scared of geeeeeeeeeeldoooooooooff" i fell of my chair laughing! fantastic!!!!!

  • I'd love to see an Obama puppet.

  • type in 'special 1 tv obama' and your wish will come true lol

  • Spitting Image would make me watch TV again! Christ what a laugh it was!!

  • Shame current TV is such a pile of reality television crap.

  • Well, if you're talking about "Current TV" then they do, at least, have Supernews.

  • @adam3088 - hear hear

  • @adam3088 Surely these shows would be cannon fodder if spittng image was brought back or something simular was made that was as daring. Spitting image - the sh*t recycler of british television.

  • @GeordieBiff007

I'm not even sure about that, these shows are so bad they'd be difficult to parody in a way which wouldnt be painful to watch.

  • Apparently, in 2006, there were plans to recreate Spitting Image but it was scrapped when Roger Law got miffed because they made the Ant and Dec puppets without proper allowance.

  • We need this programme now really badly. This government of champagne socialists need put out of their misery (and ours ) Great video

  • agree bring it back lets take the piss out of everyone famous

  • Spitting Image would've been PERFECT for the Bush / Cheney years, which we're not yet really out of yet. They're the gift that keeps on giving!

  • Bring it back!!

They could portray David Cameron as the smarmy, Old Etonian tweed-wearing aristocratic twat that he is.

  • search headcases crikey it's the tories

  • @CharlieSmigz Yeah yeah - he's posh - so he must be a twat - yeah. Cunt.

  • With stupid Gordon Brown they could take the right piss out of him and what he is doing to this country...

  • We need some thing funny in our lives! Bring back Spitting image!

  • ha ha did u see mj

  • BRING BACK SPITTING IMAGE! Don't let it be too late! It was one of the funniest shows on TV, give this country something ACTUALLY FUNNY to laugh at, the time is PERFECT!!

  • yeah, there are so many people that would be absolutly suited to being parodied!

  • Who are the presenters?

  • Their meant to be Ant & Dec.

  • omg xD i would like to see that show

  • I grew up watching it and absolutely loved it. You can get some of them on DVD now.
