This dude knows dick about lions. Let a honey badger run up on a lion and see if it don't get his shit fucked up. Like ... totally fucked up. Monitor = creepy, Badger = bad ass, Lion = The Master.
Its not like the lions will stay hungry for days. The lizard wouldn't have been a great meal anyway. It more looked like the lions saw him as a new toy that awakened their curiousity.
The honey badger though has just the nature of killing anything it confronts, even if it is not hungry, because honey badgers are just badass and the know it. Thus the comparison is actually quite nonsense. Different animals, different reasons, different thinking, different instincts.
You have to remember, the monitor tried to invade the home of the honey badger, attempting to eat eggs (i'm guessing). I'm pretty sure that if the monitor had approached the lion's cub, the lion would have attacked.
I think if a Lion wanted to it would kill a honeybadger with ease yeah the honey badger is fearless but the lion is bigger stronger and I'm sure it would get bit a few times but I think it would destroy the honey badger
Just because people saw a video on you tube of a honey badger shaking of some snake bite after 2 hours does not make them immune to all snake bites, Am an African, and there are still so many snake species out there that has not been caught on tape yet, Come on, Lions are way too high up the food chain to waste their time on some God damn lizard...If u had seen a lion up close and personal in the wild savanna before, u will not be doing this comparison video.....there are so many misconceptions.
well when lions have a full stomach they wont be really agrressive cuz they dont have a reason to be but when a lion is hungry it will even eat a snake
its funny how most of the people think honey badgers can kill any animals because they saw a video of them not giving a sht and then they start comparing shit to bigger predators like wtf.....its stupid to compare something a honey badger is fearsome for being able to take a poison and not die and for being able to kill and eat the animals that most animal would avoid but its not strong enough to overpower or kill a full grown lion nor any big cats so stop comparing stupid things
This is very deceptive. Lions are known as "Noble" creatures. They dnt pick fights with other creatures for no reason. Human cameraman come right up to their pride and they dnt care. If a Monitor Lizard attacked a Lion head-on, do you really think the Lion would run away? it will rip it to shreds in no time! The Honey badger is viscous too, but the monitor lizard attacked it first.
can a badger take on a crocodile or elephant watch your mouth dont compare badger to a lion we all know lion is the king of the kings beside it is not worth to get poisoned lion just like human if he gets venom he know he cant survive so why he even bother when he knows that monitor lizard belong to a venomous family unlike crocodiles i know not all monitors have venom but some does. if the lion knows that i give him that for credit
Monitor lizards, like the Komodo, can have dangerous bacteria in their mouths, meaning one bite could be death. The lions were wise to stay away when they are not hungry, no point in risking a mistake. The badger though, is just plain crazy haha, he really does not give a shit about anything.
@OlCapitain That is because honey badgers have very loose skin and very thick; whatever the monitor lizards may inflict to them, will only hit their thick skin--not their body. Lions and honey badgers are perfect examples of nature versus nurture.
@OrdinaryCritic Not quite. True they have thick and strong hide, but a bite on the leg would do damage, and even their skin has blood vessels all throughout it, meaning all he has to do is break the skin to unleash some pretty nasty bacteria throughout the honey badgers body.
@OlCapitain watch when the honey badgers ate the snake, the snake bit it in the mouth and it just passes out after killing the snake and then wakes up and eat the snake for lunch lol. Honey badgers is a badass.
@leozap382 Poison is different from the bacteria that monitor lizards possess. It is possible to become immunized to poison from like a cobra, but you would have to have the immune system of a monitor lizard or croc in order to survive a monitor lizard bite without medicine. honey badger would be owned :)
this video is lame. i want to see a real fight. the monitor didnt even try. it must have been starving for solong it couldnt do much because i have seen a monitor go crazy with its tail and couldve one hitted the badger because it can shatter bones. plus that monitor only reaches a foot under the size stated. need real facts. not rooting for any specifics because i love both animals but one video isn't the ultimate decision maker. just wanted A REAL FIGHT. but oh well.
this video is bull shiet.. cause Lion almost never meets lizzard. and as they are small the dont pay attention to it. and they dont know what it is. as there are venemous snakes and stuff the are careful. But the badger eats Snakes and cobras.. wich mean it usually kill animals like that.. a Badger wouldnt go for a Buffalo.. why? cause they dont hunt buffalo, lions does it.
I prefer lions to honey badgers; honey badger is too nice a name for this creature. It is also known as a ratel; a much better name. This would be a better video if the monitor had won against that ugly, ugly ratel.
I think they over exaggerated the monitor lizard. It pretty much just chilled until honey badger attacked it, then it flailed at it once and stopped. BOOM Honey badger takes what it wants.
The african honey badger is a member of the weasel family. since skunks are related, the honey badger can spray stink from under its tail but far worse then a skunk
I was in a zoo once and the zookeeper said that a honey badger escaped from its cage once and was found in the lions enclosure. The lions were hiding, scared shitless, in the corner as the badger took free reign of the enclosure. Now that is badass!!!
I want to kick it I'm afraid it'd bite off and steal my shoe, sell it, make 300% profit and start up a small business expanding into a glorious multinational corporation.
Gotta love the difference between British nature programs and American. The slow paced style of David Attenborough, and then you have the pay per view wrestling announcement style of American shows.
HOLY shit that tiny animal is fearless but whats funny is lions dont truely understand thier power hahah thank god, if they did they wud relise they cud kill a lot of animal with thier brute power and force :D
There are videos of honey badgers killing and fighting off Hyenas and Hyenas can kill lions, so what does that tell you? Theres nothing worse than a fanboy of an over-rated lion. Face it. The badger and bear family is superior to the cat family. I really don't see how there should be a comparison. Lions kill when hungry. Honey badgers kill whenever they feel like it and when hungry. I also don't see lions shrugging off bee stings or Cobra Venom.
There are videos of honey badgers killing polar bears and killer whales. They are known too gang rape silverback gorillas and it is believed that Pakhistan has the nuclear bomb from a honey badger.
@acstas87 Honey Badgers are not in the bear family. They're not even really in the badger family. They're most closely related to the Weasel. But they are definitely bad-ass mofos. I've never seen a fight between a honey badger and a hyeena or lion that didn't end up in a stalemate. But that says more to the credit of the Honey Badger, considering it only weighs 35 lbs.
Lol! RickytheWeasel...are you a fucktard?! The monitor attacked the home and potential young of the Badger...obviously it will defend itself and the young ones. What do you think a lion would do if a monitor attacked it's home/young etc.? It would tear the monitor apart. Why the fuck would a lion that just killed a zebra and it's belly is full, attack a monitor that isn't endangering it or it's young? Please Ricky...get an education you dumb shit.
Comparing a 30-pound animal to a lion is a joke. The only reason the badger reacted so violently was because the monitor meant to kill it. A monitor would never attack a lion, so those rather young lions in the video had no reason to fight it. Theyd obviously never seen one before, but if the lizard attacked then the lions would have destroyed it. A badger cannot beat a lion. The honey badger is the most courageous animal on earth, though I agree.

wtf animals can take with them like human maybe monitor said: fuck u! don't touch me! lion: what?! monitor: silence! i killed u! lion: im not afraid, u are more little then me! monitor: silence! i killed u! lion: grrrr! monito: don't touch me! lion: can u find other word naab! monitor: silence! i killed u! lion: -_-' omg i will not eat that, this thing is nobrain if i eat it i will become like it! lion let monitor go!
the badger was defending itself. the lions were not, nor were they in need of a meal. The badger was also probably more familiar with monitor lizards and thus less afraid of it.
@banjoben1234 honey badgers aren't afraid of any other creatures. They are called HONEY badger because they can crush killer bee nest and eat all the honey while being stung by furious bees.
Don't you just love the difference between a calm, professional nature documentary narrated by David Attenborough and probably produced by the BBC, and a sensational, bad special effects ridden show where the obviously American narrator sounds like he's commenting on some bad car racing event?
That's why I hate National Geographic and their sensational antics designed for laymen and dullards. A pity for the smart, educated Americans who are forced to endure it.
@koantin I read your comment before seeing the bit you were talking about and thought you were seriously over-exaggerating. Good lord, that was just bad.
@koantin Actually NatGeo isn't anywhere near as guilty of this as the Discovery Networks. Notice the Animal Planet tag at the top. But you absolutely right in any case.
@koantin Except the American documentary is no less factual or informative. So really all it boils down to is you being an elitist twat about what constitutes 'acceptable' entertainment and what doesn't.
loving the youtube bum love for honey badgers. ppl have even gone to calling a sophisticated social pack hunting mammal cowardly to put the badger even higher on its pedestol.
I still waiting on Honey Badger vs. Polar Bear, or Honey Badger vs. 9mm. that guns got no chance
I love how calm the Honey Badger emerges from it's hole, as if saying to the monitor, "Uh, excuse me but can I help you mothafucka' before I rip you a new asshole!"
I come from Africa Kenya, and have worked in the Maasai Mara for over 8 years 6 as a camp manager, and it beats me why everyone seems to want to debate on who can defeat who in a fight. What went into the making of these debates? Yes the shy honey badger is fearless, with an almost impermeable skin, very strong claws and a powerful bite. Lions on the other hand have very different 'specs,. Why can't not be kept that way? In nature tables continuously turn when it comes to fight or flee.
Its important to note that most lions kill in prides not alone much like wolves. Jaguars, Mountain Lions, Wolverines and Badgers all seek their food alone making them better attackers in a one on one situation than an African Lion
Fyi, its said that Honey Badgers don't kill you to eat you.. They literally rips off your testicles.. Word of advice for those living in South Africa, better put on two or more underwear to protect your nuts.. Its better to be safe than sorry..
It would be funny if after the break where the guys says "this is perfect lepord country...plunty of big trees" it breaks back to him getting attacked by lepords...
come on dude the lioness wasn't scared it was curious, they are as much 'scared' of that lizard as they are of jackals. Jackals almost intermingle with lioness (they sense little threat) but if it was a male lion you know that lizard would either be dead or running like hell. There's little reason why an animal would kill another animal after the JUST killed a bigger animal that would feed them for days.
@SunWukong4 If it is able to bite a badger than yes that is true, but the badger could easily get low enough to puncture a jugular vein and thats it for the Komodo.
*Chuckles to the point of becoming scarlet and wipes away the single tear of joy* haha!, he laughs - everyone other than me are just so full of shit.. Dare to believe....
I'm sorry all you people defending lions, but when David Attenborough says something, you can be pretty fucking sure it's true

Don't you just love people who America bash at any given opportunity?

@koantin
Right you are!

@koantin Except the American documentary is no less factual or informative. So really all it boils down to is you being an elitist twat about what constitutes 'acceptable' entertainment and what doesn't.
So, thanks twat.

loving the youtube bum love for honey badgers. ppl have even gone to calling a sophisticated social pack hunting mammal cowardly to put the badger even higher on its pedestol.
I still waiting on Honey Badger vs. Polar Bear, or Honey Badger vs. 9mm. that guns got no chance

Ricky the WEASEL obviously has a grudge against lions
how do u know that the last monitor lizard was bigger than the others? because it looks bigger than the badger? which is much smaller than a lion!
pjonri 1 year ago
i seen a prehistoric repeat of history occur when the lizard swiped at the tiger (sabor tooth vs lizardsaur)
969Oriax696 1 year ago

In nature tables continuously turn when it comes to fight or flee.
fmkaix 1 year ago
Its important to note that most lions kill in prides not alone much like wolves. Jaguars, Mountain Lions, Wolverines and Badgers all seek their food alone making them better attackers in a one on one situation than an African Lion

Fyi, its said that Honey Badgers don't kill you to eat you.. They literally rips off your testicles.. Word of advice for those living in South Africa, better put on two or more underwear to protect your nuts.. Its better to be safe than sorry..

yeah sure you talk alot of shit about the lions but if you put a 450 pound male lion and a honeybadger in a cage then tell me who would win
HellLord0931 1 year ago
@HellLord0931 a honey badger has killed a lion b4 thats why everyone talks bad about it :p the badger ripped the lions nuts off and killed it
dustinrock123 1 year ago
@HellLord0931 The badger because its faster than the Lion and fights a lot more so it knows the soft part to attack on basically all animals

what a bullshit vid. If the lions wanted, they could easily kill the monitor, inquistiveness shouldnt be mistaken for cowardice.

As for the the second lion video...they where cubs...My bulldog would scare the shit out of them.
Caretika 2 years ago 2
come on dude the lioness wasn't scared it was curious, they are as much 'scared' of that lizard as they are of jackals. Jackals almost intermingle with lioness (they sense little threat) but if it was a male lion you know that lizard would either be dead or running like hell. There's little reason why an animal would kill another animal after the JUST killed a bigger animal that would feed them for days.

Honey badger, is the animal version of chuck norris, you don't fuck with chuck norris.

I think a Honey badger can kill a Komodo Dragon seriously.
atmchickluva 2 years ago
lol ive seen 2 vids of that
noodow715 2 years ago
@atmchickluva you realize if a komodo atleast makes one bite the badgers may die wether wins or loses.
SunWukong4 1 year ago
@SunWukong4 If it is able to bite a badger than yes that is true, but the badger could easily get low enough to puncture a jugular vein and thats it for the Komodo.

probably looks like a venomous snake and that's why they leave it alone. But honey badgers eat snakes, so they go after it.
