  • Awesome! ~OneKewpie

  • Is she an Oil Burner?

  • nice to see no deisel pusher...steam forever

  • The sound of the whistle is beyond description. Makes me wish for a return to the old days that I've never known. Daylights also had air horns like diesels. Very unique sound combination- steam chugging punctuated by the air-horn blast. I had a record of steam train sounds that had a track of the last run of The Daylight Limited. The whistle peeped once but the air horn was LOUD. They ought to blow the air horn on the Daylight survivor. It's very cool to hear, in a strange way.

  • hey does any one know when the beautiful train will be coming back through tualatin again? i've been trying to catch a glimspe of it in person for years. Thanks So Much for any info some one may have. i can never find a website or place with a listing as for when it will make a trip through either tualatin or even portland.

  • She's in hibernation for the winter and the reason you haven't seen her on the P&W is that their management has essentially said no more 4449 on their lines. I am a volunteer for the Friends of 4449 and we did receive an invite to Cruisin' Sherwood this year. I doubt the P&W will rescind their ban but if they do, I'll make sure to let you know.

  • OH Wow, Thanks So Much. Can I Give You my E-mail or something, so you can get a hold of me easier?

  • just saw that locomotive out here in michigan at trainfest. it was fantastic.

  • LIMA FOREVER. they make the berkshires, shay and the daylights.

  • That Whistle! has to be the most beautiful steam whistle out there today!

  • I hope they send this engine out for another run soon!

  • Cockroach, FUCK YOU!

  • Thank you for the VERY NICE compliment!

I am delighted you agree that 4449 should be cut up, scrapped, melted and turned into anchor chain and manhole covers!

  • well thats just fine and dandy except that your like 60 something years old and the guard would jut hear you and your oxygen tank and chair rolling around so that's just toooo bad.

  • I don't think you know me at all. I get around better than you think. When they pick up the guy with the oxygen tank, it won't be me!

Have you checked your toy today? Better watch it closely! Is every thing still there? You better inspect it again!

  • @7822welshsteam Absolutely great idea! Since I am not married, how is this going to happen? It certainly will not be any crime against me!

If you got a problem with that, you should quit! Give it up!

If you & your friends are getting tired, go to bed! If you know where I live, come on over! It is good to know that the wife I do not have is so hot!

It is pretty tough to burn down scrap metal, but you are welcome to try! Let it burn! Burn baby, burn!

  • @7822welshsteam I am always watching my own back! You only think you know who has scrapped steam locomotives. We scrapped 2 in the last 10 years. They were in bad condition & had not run in 55-57 years. They were static displays in city parks until the the liability of having small children to climb upon them was realized. The non-profit interest could not meet the bills so they were scrapped. Lucky us!

    Remember, you lost the war!

Steam played it's part, but preserving it any longer is folly!

  • @7822welshsteam The parts are easy to obtain! They sell quickly, with NO QUESTIONS ASKED! There is quite a black market out there for this stuff & always people who know how to get it!

Come on over & take a look, you won't find them here!

  • talk about stopping traffic! can you imagine seeing that beast come through the middle of town?! I live in Richmond, VA and we have a wonderful rail heritage, but I seriously doubt we'll see a steam engine highballing around here ever again. Wonderful vid. Thanks for posting.

  • The semi-streamlined GS locomotives of the Southern Pacific are gorgeous, and the 4449, in my opinion, is one of the most beautiful engines ever built, great chatch!

  • awesome catch, steamers make todays trains look like toys. lol

  • This is why steam trains are HAPPENINGS - and not just trains. You just have to stop and look & listen. Wonderful! :-D

  • Wow! Super. The sound is fabulous!

  • Your video is much better! Congratulations!

  • That is my birthdate! Great to see my favorite Western passenger engine runnin' on my b-day!

  • I did a short video by Salem on SP 4449 4-15-07

    Yours is great.
