@survivalpodcasting are you sure? That seems so uncomfortable. I mean, my left eye is a bit better, but I can still manage with my right. shooting left handed seems so awkward.
@bloodndestroy - no, on a moving target you move your body not your head. The cheek weld stays constant. Just watch some pro skeet or clay shooters with a shotgun and you will get the idea. Basically on a moving target you are swinging on the target and taking a lead based on the speed of movement.
@zerstorenser - depends on how you mean it. If you are speaking from a tactical point of view on the firing arm you are missing the point. Tactical and sporting forms have different purposes. If you are talking about the chicken wing on the supporting arm I still think head position is worse but both are terrible in their effect on accuracy and control.
Hm, but there are military rifles that just don't allow you to use sights and the butt stock properly without bringing your head down a bit. Position of the head depends also on the type of sights / optics you got, doesn't it?
@Cougar545x39 - Any rifle has what is called "rise of comb" which is the height of the stock where you form the cheek weld. There will be some variances but what rifle are you talking about, I shoot ARs exactly the same way as here (head position wise other then getting the nose right up to the charging handle).
About the only carbine I have ever had to bring the head down any real amount on is the KelTec Sub 2000 because lets face it all you have for a stock is a pipe.
Also if you like I can do a update with an AR for an example and a Sub 2000 as well. I probably need to anyway for the people who are overlapping tactical forms with the sporting forms I am showing here.
The shooting demonstrated here is about knocking squirrels out of trees, putting deer meat in the freezer and busting bunnies not tactical entry into a building or anything like that.
@survivalpodcasting Yep ok. I mostly shot military rifles. If you got an AK with iron sights, and another with a scope, you got a clearly different head position. Even if you have the time to shoot comfortable.
I was always taught bring the gun to your shoulder and dont move your head...i was always bad for it but iv corrected and i shoot better then before..
hey jack you had a very good point making this vid i see the same stuff you do all the time but yeah that is what i try to tell people when im teaching them to shoot
I'm right handed but I have better vision in my left eye, any advice?
