Debbie Harry still has that subversive erotic charge that lit up the radio waves 30 years ago. "Mother" crackles with sugar pop energy and has a killer hook. The ONLY female-fronted outfit that compares with them today is Dicey and Paprika.
i like the song mother but maria was more up my street as i am an old punk new waver try sliepnir2006 and look for the vipers on it that was my band in 1986 lots of love god bless rob
This is just plain kick ass Blondie - at their best. From The sound to the lyrics to the storyline to the subversive meaning: BRILLIANT. Like old school Blondie yet fresh, new, exciting and above all else; "Cool as air." We can't stop listening. Can't wait til the Panic drops!!!
@gwashingmachine2 are you 'in the loop'??? im not questioning your credentials, but i want to know if you are in with the band...how do you know the release date? and....im listening to the song as i type this - i dunno, im liking it MUCH more than yesterday. guess my mood is more receptive. its old time blondie, almost. dammit, DEBBIE, JUST MARRY ME!!!! 'too busy', you say? ok, CLEM, MARRY ME! lol
@SirBanuTheFourth thanks...i did buy the fan pack from a company in the UK and received it a few weeks ago. im sorry i paid all that money for another dud of a CD.
@BigEighties1-You seem a bit bitter. Not to mention clueless about Blondie's history. Blondie already had hits before Chapman, and had hits after him. And it's like saying that the Talking Heads or Devo were "created" by Eno or Patti Smith by John Cale. If you don't like a band, don't pay attention. You can spare us the stupid comments and bile however. Loser.
@theFab19460 you're all over the place harshing on Blondie. If you dont like the 2010 model, then just move on. Your bitching is really really tiresome. you leave tracks
This song sounds a little muddy.....it needs a little bit more tweeking to make it more "popping" The singings very good though... needs a bit more "biting" lyrics.. something like "Mother in denial" Just my 2 cents.
A touring greatest hit show. What has Stein done in the last
two decades that match “Dreaming?” Nada. This song doesn't even
sound like Blondie yet it's the SINGLE from the record?
I'm beginning to wonder if there ever would been a Blondie if weren't for Mike Champman creating one - left to their own devices, the always produce crap-o-la - like this stinker -- which will only be heard by the poor sucker ticket holders
who came to hear them sing their HITS, not some art project.
@sonnenanbeter89 And they were SO successful that no-one but you has heard of them. Please. It's over and I wish they'd show some dignity instead of milking it. The only thing I can fathom is they were actually as stupid as they claimed they were in signing away all their copyrights in the 70's and NEED THE MONEY to be touring this broken down version of once a great band. Clem Burke is the ONLY solid part of the band in 2010!
@funkstarnyc Read his profile. He's all over youtube dumping on Debbie about her age and music and appearance. I dont know what the dude's fucking problem is, but he seems to have an axe to grind. I can respect his opinion, but no one said it's 1980 all over again. It's just really tacky and mean, actually.
Debbie forever !!!

Say do I hear Blow-Up in this mix? II remember a remix of Blondie's Goodboys (a very good remix, actually) with a similar sound.

@djbulldognyc You hear only the work of Jeff Saltzman and Kato Khandwala, the producers :-)
This is the official studio version, that will appear on 'Panic Of Girls'

i thought frank infante had some classic guitar licks. and nigel had his moments, no doubt.....

Pete Townsend admitted that the ability to write incredible music
is a gift. His analogy was a gum-ball machine. The hits dry up
for bands, then it's over. He then admitted
“his best work is behind him,” he'd never be able to match
his previous work.
TheFab19460 1 year ago
Mother is an excellent example of how gone
the Stein/Harry magic is. I've listened to this band note for note
since 1979. Each year since NO EXIT they've gotten weaker.
Left to their own devices, minus a decent producer and Jimmy
Destri, they ALWAYS produce stuff know one cares about.
