I was raised by CAS foster homes - my biological aunts had no contact with me, they tried, my social worker had lied to them...it's so hard growing up without your natural family around you. My aunts were good, decent people, who would have easily took me in. Thank G-d I found one of my aunts today....but some children just ain't as lucky

I totally agree with the last posted comment. They take kids for no reason, my kids were just taken from me 2 nites ago from CAS. I am a fit parent, and always ensure that my children are happy, fed, cleaned, and well rested. Not only did they take my children, but they separated them, they're not even in the same home, i can't even imagine how my kids feel.....heartbroken for sure. I cry myself to sleep each night, I NEED AND WANT MY BABIES BACK, THEY BELONG WITH ME NOT ANYONE ELSE
I know the feeling, my kids were taken for 15 months because our landlord would not fix the place up. They also said my husband worked too hard, what a joke. Instead of helping the Childrens "Aid" hinder. 15 months of crying, fighting and almost destroying mine and my husbands relationship.
Citizen accessing food banks are having children taken for the food they were given being expired. Military personal are having their children taken with allegations of training making them violent. Vets claiming post tramatic stress are having children removed. Mothers who teach children about forgiveness and god are having children removed. Children who want to go home are being forcifuly drugged and instatutionalized. This is truely a war against the family. Stand Up for your children

follow the money this will lead to why they must take the children who gains and for what reason or agenda. why do they need immunity best interest and put the families name on list for 75 yrs. until another member is snared then another 75 yrs. on list.
No doubt we need to protect all children. However, the C.A.S. is NOT perfect. Even if they are correct some of the time, they have far, far too much power with not nearly enough ACCOUNTABILITY. As it currently stands, they run rough-shod over families, and often make difficult times into times of TRAGEDY. My own experience with them convinces me of this.
No ACCOUNTABILITY is right. They can lie, falseify, and doctor note, to make themselves look good in teh courts. I hear going to court will solve nothing. Is this true? Please tell me that there will be an end to the maddness!!
In discussing C.A.S. related matters with other parents, a popular idea is to start up a class action suite against the C.A.S. Except I'm not sure if a pan-Canadian court battle would be possible, or just one in each juristiction. Regardless, it would take some organizing, etc etc. Eventually something's gotta give. When I get my daughter back, after that I will be concentrating on taking apart the C.A.S. brick by brick.

one thing that is definitely happening that I can attest to. Is that children with mental health issues, are not placed in regular foster homes. Kids that are abused and have mood disorders or learning disabilities are placed in foster homes that are supposedly trained for it. It is just a *cert* foster parents can get. I lived with professional foster parents with such a rating and they used and abused us kids except the little boy they wanted to adopt. Us older kids were their slaves
did more for this non relative family then the cps would allow your parents to have you do would be considered abuse. only cps workers and foster parents can abuse and neglect as they have the immunity to do so. like our president said not meaning us he had to protect his own.
I am a foster mom and I speak only from what the kids themselves tell me. What about the kids that suffer great abuse (emotional, physical, sexual) and extreme neglect at their parents hands... Should they have no agency that will protect them? The system is not perfect and the CAS does not always serve as they should, but 90% of the kids I have met needed and WANTED care outside their family home.
Your absolutely right, many children have come forward and claimed abuse, physically and sexually in care. I wonder when this country will create an agency that actually protects them. The fact that the mortality rate in care is higher than the general public speaks volumes.
Yes there are children who need protection fron their parents. But some of those kids need to be protected from the CAS. The Overzellous young workers on a power trip can cause severe damage to a child and their family!!
What about the neglect from the children's aid themselves. How much do you have to fight with them for the rights of the kids in your care. How many phone calls, letters, and meeting that go no where and there again is the child left suffering at the hand of the people who are suppose to be protecting them. SICK SICK SICK!!!
yes unfortunately I am not always convinced myself of the best intensions of the CAS. I do work and live directly with the kids though and see and feel their abuse and neglect and though the system is not perfect... what else is there to protect these kids right now??
I read your comments michjactin. I was one of those abused kids. I had a bipolar mom and a psycho stepdad, and they abused the crap out of all of us kids. I made a video about it actually. My mom gave me up in court, and turned me over to the state after the state charged her with abuse and neglect. The state but me in foster placement, and I was prompty abused by those people
I agree, the families definitely need more support but their are still those parents who would abuse that by using extra dollar support for themselves instead of for their kids...I don't know the answers I am just trying to do what I think I can to help the kids. And the kids I have were not randomly taken away but very traumatised by their pasts.

The Children's Aid Society is actually a private corporation acting on behalf of the government through public and private donations and funding. They oversee themselves and are accountable to no one at present.
The day will come that loving families in Canada that are not in need of intervention won't have to put up with a seriously flawed system that works on hearsay and distorting facts!

• Stayed with family: 14%
• Went to foster care: 44%
Became teen mothers:
• Stayed with family: 33%
• Went to foster care: 56%
Held a job at least 3 months:
