why flaming? i dont get it why you people flame. This is NOT the guitar of the future, its just a new instrument so just stfu, remember the days when the e-guitar was released? people said the same "play a real guitar"
As a matter of fact, Kitara is a synth guitar with MIDI function and NOT just a controller... I saw them at CES and NAMM earlier this year and had the opportunity to test one of their prototypes then... it rocks and it is going to change the way some people make music!
@Kadadj The Kitara *just* got into the hands of consumers. Literally, the first batch was delivered two days ago, and a lot of people had had problems receiving their shipments. As a result, there has been little time to innovate, and everyone's mainly still learning how to play the thing, and then innovate.
Mine came in Monday, and I'm really excited about it. I'm still learning how to play mine, too, of course.
Hahaha kitty:3 anyways! As cool as it is seeing it do guitar stuff, I'd like to see more of what it can do in the synth area, because you said it was designed to be more like a new innovative synth, correct? I want to see it do things a synth can't do. As cool as this is, if I buy this product. I'm not looking to play songs I do on my guitar. I'm looking to do things this can do better than a synth.
@Dreadlord67 This won't be able to do thing better than a synth because quite simply - it's not a synth. It's a controller in the shape of a guitar. The way a synth sounds comes a lot from how it's played (or sequenced), this is inevitably stuck to be played as a guitar, you can make it do synth sounds but it won't be played like a synth and will be inferior in that regard. Just like keyboards that try to emulate guitar sounds, the way its played can't accurately replicate the style of a guitar.
@PickledYoshi "you can make it do synth sounds but it won't be played like a synth and will be inferior in that regard. Just like keyboards that try to emulate guitar sounds"
Except there's absolutely no reason you can't hook it up to exactly the same software any synth keyboard uses.
@Dreadlord67 I'd say tutorial 4 is a neat example what makes the kitara so compelling. It makes manipulating sound very intuitive and playable. You can a assign a different patch to every string, and it is a midi controller so it can control a synthesizer on your computer . I've also heard Misa is going to release the source code soon, so it will be completely customizable by those with the know how.
