Not only is it a crock, but a rip-off of a crock, i saw this atheist documentary where the guy has a check list of like 30 items and checks to see how many of them Jesus has in common with all the Greek gods and stories of legend. He comes in at about 25, with only Zeus and some other ahead of him. Sacrifices blood, has to prove himself to his father blah blah
Thank you for this video. I like both comedy and serious videos. They are great companions since I can laugh at the absurdities of religion with the comedy and then be refreshed for critical thinking with the serious videos. Definitely do both, for they complement each other quite nicely.
Everything that was once thought to be supernatural in nature has been naturalized. And with the knowledge of science we have become more powerful than the fictious gods of ancient idolatry. As technology progresses will discover more powers that our ancestors would call magic.
This video is brilliant, but don't use this argument when debating a theist. They will instantly dismiss or ignore it and babble on about how god is great and kind etc. It's best to use the flaws in their arguments against themselves.
No matter what argument or proof anybody can provide, no amount of evidence, no logic or rational thinking will ever change the minds of the brainwashed sheep called christians. Every now and then one will switch over but then there are thousands to replace them and young minds to indoctrinate. It is a shame what mankind has missed due to these misguided individuals.
Hey! What about Wiccans and Satanists? We may not be as much as the rest but we're still pretty f***ed up! What, religions who's some of it's first followers are still alive are too GOOD to be called idiotic and damaging to humanity??? I kid but seriously, if you think drawing lines in dirt, displaying things that from far away look like cooking implements, and asking a mom and a half man/half deer for favors is some kind of unknown science, you have issues.
I laughed when i saw the sheer number of times religious people have told us the world would end. I'm surprised people still pay attention to them. People are actually buying decommissioned cold war bunkers THINKING 2012 will be the end of the world and at that,i rofl. they said it would end in...2800BC,0AD,155,970,1284,1504,1524,1533,1648,1666,1794,1814,1836,1844,1847,1874,1881,1910,1914,1919,1967,1969,1980,1982,1987,1988,1992,1993,1997,1998,1999,2000,2006,2007,and 2008 why believe them again?
@Reip187 Also, I know this is old, but I like how you edited this. Music was great, and the imagery was very captivating. Couple of little muffs with transition in the sound, but not bad. You definitely have a talent for artistic video I think.
Going through your vids now so hopefully I can see some more like this. I can't remember seeing too many like this browsing them, but hopefully a few more at least.
I like your humorous stuff (originality) but why not? Great compilation, by the way. On a personal note, maybe the reason questions about the origin of consciousness, without which questions wouldn't exist, is fundamentally tied to our minuscule knowledge of the polarity in the atom: existence is akin to the paradigm of two opposite forces held in check by a null bit. You can't positively deny nor confirm a 'force' or 'god' as all things that exist are based on a paradoxical foundation. Opinion
Nicholas of Cusa thought that a heliocentric model of the universe was possible. He was a cardinal of the Catholic Church and lived in the 15th century. There have been other members of the clergy who have supported, or speculated on the heliocentric model, even before Copernicus.
I highly doubt that any real theologian ever thought that God was specifically in the sky. I know that Saint Thomas (13th century), who studied the nature of God very carefully, would never have thought that.
@pokeshmon, that we are all one, as it states in the Doctrine of Anatta...that nobody is truly an individual. Everyone is the universe, and the universe is God. I'm not certain ALL Buddhists believe that, but it would be impossible to account for all variations of belief in a short video.
@DarkMatter2525 i'd take budism off from the religions list, becouse a religion needs a central character, divine character, budda was not divine, budda was a normal person like you and me,he didnt became a god, nor revived from death or went to heaven or crap like that, he meditated and found answer to all human suffers thats where he got enlightend, then he teached the humans the ways to avoid suffering, teachings we as of today know as buddism, its a philosophy more then a religion.
@DarkMatter2525 Considering I've heard of people who call themselves christians without even believing Christ himself existed... religious labels are kind of meaningless if you don't take the majority view.
@Kr4zyAc3 we are in a way all part of the universe because of quantum entanglement which is when two electrons are separated and if one is changed then instantly the other reacts the same way. some scientists believe that the big bang is just the separation of the all particles
@Kr4zyAc3 no the particles cooled down and made different matter such as hydrgen and heluim to make suns and some cooled to make solids which gravity pulled into planets
@Kr4zyAc3 i don't know i really should look that up(i wonder if the Hubble's law is connected to the cooling also did the big bang spread in every direction or in one direction)
@TheHotsaucekiller this is a common misconception. The Big Bang did not "spread," the fabric of space and time stretched out. Its like blowing up a balloon if you think of the plastic of the balloon as the fabric of space and time. If you draw multiple dots on the balloon with a sharpie and then blow the balloon up all of the sharpie marks "move away" from the other sharpie marks. Its the same way with the universe. there was no "place" the big bang occurred - it occurred everywhere.
For people belived to be Gods, it showed Prince Phillip (some South Pacific islanders belive him to be God). He hasn't died yet maybe he'll live forever
For all you christians..you know there was a time when the church ruled the world...we call it the dark ages i want those 1000 years back we couldve been 1000 years more advanced
@aacastilloxX632 if i were a religious minded scumbag....i would probubly want an eye for an eye with what they did for all that time in the dark ages....like go ahead and Kill Everyone that believed in a god...However, We dont need to use violence to show people how incredibly stupid they have been...todays Mormon is tomorrows spokesman for atheism...murdering or alienating that individual would of been a loss..it is that type of thinking that makes religious people different than atheists
@aacastilloxX632 I've brought that up soooo many times in religious debates and the only response I get is "those people weren't real christians". Siiiiiiigh
Didn't you mean that the Europeans could have been 1000 years more advanced?
Considering the level of racism back then, I guess the non-Europeans are doomed if there was no Dark Ages. Yeah, they are unlikely to be exterminated, but just think of all the bad things that could happen. The white people are pretty much going to be gods for others.
I told a friend of mine that her faith was not a good reason to believe. She called me a devil worshiping chimp who has sex with my family. Christian love all around.
And as well, what does something being natural have to do with it? You say that everything that exists is natural; which, as irrelevant as that is, is true. I don't believe that god exists so that doesn't hold any weight. I don't understand that.
cont.. I was only commenting on what I was thinking at the time; it really is more of an opinion or perspective than anything. I was never trying to imply that I was "right". I personally am just not the guy who goes around with "good without god" shirts on, etc. I feel like there is more important things for us to worry about. I'd rather try to help out with our future in astrophysics than argue with creationists.
cont.. point: if you cannot observe, calculate, experiment-with, etc on a question (regardless of if you take a scientific approach to it or scientific mindset when dealing with it) than it is more philosophic than scientific. Observing that something is not there isn't enough for me to call such a thing science. However I agree that all science points to an atheistic thought process as being correct; which is why I am atheist. Scientific thought is used in atheistic principles, but science is

@chedillychedilly1 Look, I made a very light comment that got taken a bit too far (important as well is that I am a subscriber to Darkmatter and I do not disagree, per say, with what you, or the other commenters who replied to my comment, are saying; I'm very much an atheist). I do however appreciate an intelligent debate on something and so I concede these points/ideas happily. I will say though that even this conversation, if you will, is philosophical in nature. That is really my only point:
I actually prefer the orchestral version of Handel's Sarabande, the original was a string solo. But it is Handels music, first heard it on that docu-drama about John Adams, on his visit to King George III in England, appealing for recognition of the United States. Pretty memorable. Awesome video. Rocks water, awesome analogy. Faster than sound, reaching the sky and beyond. If I imagined humanity's best qualities in video form - it would be something like this!
all ur vids are beyond awsome and the msg in them are true... not to mention funny.. you my friend deserve waaaaaaaaaay more views then what youve got.. im kinda disapointed in people out there.. :(
As atheist as I am, I won't put philosophy before physics and I won't belittle the monumental achievements of science by saying something like that. Because I see evidence pointing towards atheism being correct in it's conclusions, doesn't mean it's factual. It's philosophy, as correct as it may seem, and cannot be classified as anything else. Science is much more important and on a whole different level.
Atheism, in most cases (many not so much), is scientific in principle; not the other way around. Atheism is not a scientific school, rather it is a philosophy by definition. Science is not in any stretch of the imagination a tool for atheism. What kind of
nerve does it take to say that? Or more fitting, what kind of idiocy?
It gets annoying when people use others research and discoveries to further their own personal goals while never doing any work themselves. People get graduate degrees in their field because they love what they do and want to contribute; they want to partake in real science. It's not because they want to prove something about a frigging god existing or not. Science is nothing of what you think it is.
So far scientifically, the major religions are simply wrong. The earth isn't 6000 years old (Christianity) God doesn't reside under the throne of water which the Sun passes each day (Islam) etc. etc.
Half the planet therefore (literally) has a wrong view of the universe - atheism is no belief in gods - because there is insufficient (zero) evidence for such belief. Therefore, scientifically now, atheism is the conclusion. Until evidence turns up.
I don't even think atheism is a philosophy. We are all born with no belief in gods and no beliefs about anything really. It is the default state - philosophy is an alteration of that state. For example - one may not be just an atheist, but a humanist, secularist, communist, fascist, one can be anything in addition to something else.
Atheism is regarded as a philosophy only because the vast swathes of humanity believe in something, this has to be the case for us to say "I don't believe THAT".
@BER2ERKER Well as a scientist, I wouldn't necessarily say that. Science, which is philosophically driven by logic and reason, is, as a methodology, the search for knowledge. Since science is convergent, it applies to old ideas being either confirmed methodologically, or changed, or new ideas for that matter. The past few thousand years the human race has been, ever more drastically, overturning our ancient ancestors' beliefs. I think that is what the vid is about. sorry to butt in:-)
@BER2ERKER I think what you mean to say is that science isn't ONLY concerned about whether or not a God exist, but to claim that it is not infact a scientific question is wrong. Now, some scientist feel as if politely separating supernaturalism, and naturalism is the best way to deal with this discontinuity, but I am of the personal belief that this is simply an attempt at solidarity. Not all things are testable, but that in no way makes it not natural. Everything that exist IS natural:-)
@Macabresque science is not atheistic in principle and is not a tool of atheism. Can atheism be proved? No, yet all science can be. As well many scientists in history were religious, such as Newton. Your argument is nil. I have been atheist since the age of 14-15, yet unlike the majority of atheists on YouTube that think they are somehow scientists without any degree, I have a long college education and still am in school. Don't really care so yeah have fun with your pointless arguments and wik
I don't usually watch the text and picture only videos, but I'm glad I watched this one. I particularly liked the part at the end about the rock and the water. This is going up on my facebook for my catholic family to see.
I personally don't like the whole idea that science is a tool of atheism. Science has nothing to do with the existence of mythical beings. It's getting annoying.
@BER2ERKER You cannot both think truly scientifically (logically and evidence-based) and be religious. Therefore, science is atheistic in principal. Science is a TOOL for understanding life as we see it, whether you personally think so or not.
just to make one thing clear, buddhists never claim all the people to be gods. Buddhism only says that by meditation and self discipline one can strengthen one's mind and find peace. I'm an atheist as well. Just making a small correction. cheers!

Buddhists think we are all gods?
pokeshmon 6 months ago 9
@pokeshmon, that we are all one, as it states in the Doctrine of Anatta...that nobody is truly an individual. Everyone is the universe, and the universe is God. I'm not certain ALL Buddhists believe that, but it would be impossible to account for all variations of belief in a short video.
DarkMatter2525 6 months ago 22
@DarkMatter2525 i'd take budism off from the religions list, becouse a religion needs a central character, divine character, budda was not divine, budda was a normal person like you and me,he didnt became a god, nor revived from death or went to heaven or crap like that, he meditated and found answer to all human suffers thats where he got enlightend, then he teached the humans the ways to avoid suffering, teachings we as of today know as buddism, its a philosophy more then a religion.

Kr4zyAc3 3 months ago
@Kr4zyAc3 we are in a way all part of the universe because of quantum entanglement which is when two electrons are separated and if one is changed then instantly the other reacts the same way. some scientists believe that the big bang is just the separation of the all particles
TheHotsaucekiller 3 months ago
@TheHotsaucekiller Is the Big Bang the seperation of particles on like a huge scale and that is why we have all the planets, suns,?
Kr4zyAc3 3 months ago
@Kr4zyAc3 no the particles cooled down and made different matter such as hydrgen and heluim to make suns and some cooled to make solids which gravity pulled into planets
TheHotsaucekiller 3 months ago
@TheHotsaucekiller Is there any amount of time it took for the cooling down process?
Kr4zyAc3 3 months ago
@Kr4zyAc3 i don't know i really should look that up(i wonder if the Hubble's law is connected to the cooling also did the big bang spread in every direction or in one direction)
TheHotsaucekiller 3 months ago
@TheHotsaucekiller I thought it would spread in every direction
Kr4zyAc3 3 months ago
@TheHotsaucekiller this is a common misconception. The Big Bang did not "spread," the fabric of space and time stretched out. Its like blowing up a balloon if you think of the plastic of the balloon as the fabric of space and time. If you draw multiple dots on the balloon with a sharpie and then blow the balloon up all of the sharpie marks "move away" from the other sharpie marks. Its the same way with the universe. there was no "place" the big bang occurred - it occurred everywhere.

And as well, what does something being natural have to do with it? You say that everything that exists is natural; which, as irrelevant as that is, is true. I don't believe that god exists so that doesn't hold any weight. I don't understand that.

I'd rather try to help out with our future in astrophysics than argue with creationists.

BER2ERKER 7 months ago
Atheism, in most cases (many not so much), is scientific in principle; not the other way around. Atheism is not a scientific school, rather it is a philosophy by definition. Science is not in any stretch of the imagination a tool for atheism. What kind of
nerve does it take to say that? Or more fitting, what kind of idiocy?
BER2ERKER 7 months ago
It gets annoying when people use others research and discoveries to further their own personal goals while never doing any work themselves. People get graduate degrees in their field because they love what they do and want to contribute; they want to partake in real science. It's not because they want to prove something about a frigging god existing or not. Science is nothing of what you think it is.
BER2ERKER 7 months ago
@BER2ERKER
Science SHOULD be used.
Until evidence turns up.
superhamzah85 7 months ago
I don't even think atheism is a philosophy. We are all born with no belief in gods and no beliefs about anything really. It is the default state - philosophy is an alteration of that state. For example - one may not be just an atheist, but a humanist, secularist, communist, fascist, one can be anything in addition to something else.
Atheism is regarded as a philosophy only because the vast swathes of humanity believe in something, this has to be the case for us to say "I don't believe THAT".
superhamzah85 7 months ago
@BER2ERKER Well as a scientist, I wouldn't necessarily say that. Science, which is philosophically driven by logic and reason, is, as a methodology, the search for knowledge. Since science is convergent, it applies to old ideas being either confirmed methodologically, or changed, or new ideas for that matter. The past few thousand years the human race has been, ever more drastically, overturning our ancient ancestors' beliefs. I think that is what the vid is about. sorry to butt in:-)
chedillychedilly1 7 months ago
@BER2ERKER I think what you mean to say is that science isn't ONLY concerned about whether or not a God exist, but to claim that it is not infact a scientific question is wrong. Now, some scientist feel as if politely separating supernaturalism, and naturalism is the best way to deal with this discontinuity, but I am of the personal belief that this is simply an attempt at solidarity. Not all things are testable, but that in no way makes it not natural. Everything that exist IS natural:-)

BER2ERKER 7 months ago
@Macabresque science is not atheistic in principle and is not a tool of atheism. Can atheism be proved? No, yet all science can be. As well many scientists in history were religious, such as Newton. Your argument is nil. I have been atheist since the age of 14-15, yet unlike the majority of atheists on YouTube that think they are somehow scientists without any degree, I have a long college education and still am in school. I personally don't like the whole idea that science is a tool of atheism. Science has nothing to do with the existence of mythical beings. It's getting annoying.
BER2ERKER 7 months ago
@BER2ERKER You cannot both think truly scientifically (logically and evidence-based) and be religious. Therefore, science is atheistic in principal. Science is a TOOL for understanding life as we see it, whether you personally think so or not.
