@KomedyKluxKlan Yes, because all other things being equal, whenever you swing the club across the front of your chest, your arms naturally turn so that the club closes relative to your target line (but stays the same relative to the arc of your swing path).
Gentleman Sam Snead and Jack Nicklaus has still much to learn the golf players of today. They say it's absolete. (?) But what about Tom Watson on the 2009 Open Championship. I suppose there are always interesting to learn something from the 'old' Masters.
his club face isnt even that closed the def of square is if it matches ur left forearm at the top of your swing the reason why he releases his body is to dictate the ball flight with the club path not to prevent a hook he does hold it off though because he hits a pretty much straight ball and he comes in shallow which promotes a draw but can shape it either way
His club face isn't that shut. The club face largely matches the angle of his left arm. That is how you judge if a club is open or shut at the top of a swing. He simply has a flat swing plane. That is what your club face is going to look like with a flat swing plane.
You are right, his club face isn't shut; the Bizhub commentator is clueless. If understood swing planes, he'd realize that Zach is swinging his club on one plane. His club face matches the back of his wrist, both are facing up at the top which means he has a flat wrist angle, with that, he'll hit it straight every time
Zach does have a closed club face on top when swinging his irons and I think these TV "golf color guys" tend to look at there swing notes and not at the guy on the monitor when they get bored. You're right though, pretty square club face with the driver.
in my opinion, if he would raise his left arm gradually throuh impact, it would create a more balanced move through ball in terms of less extreme "correcting" moves. I believe he has more "anti-slice/push" moves in backswing as opposed to "anti-hook" moves through ball and into follow through if that makes sence. :)
i love his swing. i wish mine was like his. i love how flat he keeps his left arm on the backswing them how flat he keeps his right arm on the follow through. its a beautiful swing
He has to...with his superstrong grip and incredibly flat backswing, he would be swinging incredibly in-to-out. To combat whacking it on the heel, he has to step back a few inches to allow for the clubface to get to center.
He is one plane swinger even though much less spine angled than Matt Kuchar.
Characterized with flatter in back swing, closed club face, turn around body.

Zack Johnson hits a draw, it's his favorite shot to hit. He doesn't need to hit a fade.

Well, I'm not the right man to judge, but I must say that Zach Johnson has a fab swing too!
It seem so smooth and in control but yet powerful. He really look like a winner.

That's to do with safety. Most pro's will fade their drives and draw their irons.

Wallahult: I'm an expert! My advice is: don't look at my swing, it's totally worthless. Look at Sam Snead.

I wouldnt call Peter Kostis useless as some of the best players in the world clearly find him useful and as a result use him as a swing coach.

question: so his swing and Duval's function the same way? Strong Grip -> shut face -> rotate body -> good shot?

Not perfect.
Its a draw swing.

it aint a draw swing its a fade swing because hes left hand is strong
daniel3203 4 years ago
No, a weak grip is for fading the ball.
xedvux 4 years ago
i thought if ya had a strong left hand it wuld be a slice and if ya had a strong right hand it wuld be a hook
