rocky was a grate fighter but not the best,he hardly fourght anyone over 200 pounds
and most of his oponents wer past there prime. he was short for a heavy weight and i belive he weighed around 194 pounds, good fighter but no way in the top 5 heavy weights of all time i put him around the 12 best heavy weight of all time, GOD bless rocky rip
I heard and there's always books and magazines that Rocky Marciano was 100% dedicated to his training so its true, and also Jim Jeffries the same that he use to go all the way to 15 rounds or 20 and still have tremendous endurance and stamina which is amazing
harddest toughest fighter ever, unreal strenght and took all the punches that were thrown at him unbeliveable, one of the strongest heavyiest punchers of all time i think, great man!!
Was this guy the greatest boxer off all time, despite his record maybe not, did this guy have the greatest heart of any fighter? If I had to put money on anyone it would be him.

i love this man, marciano was a gentleman, he trained like a gladiator, he had great heart, stamina, he was a very hard puncher.but i think ali 64-67 was too fast, rocky was very static, ali was much bigger, he had much longer reach, ali would win by ud or late tko by cuts, i think sonny liston had the reach, the power, the jab,the stamina to beat marciano by tko
i think it was very very very hard to beat rocky !! cause of his heart and his stanima and concentration he had in the ring . to bat roky was the same porblem like to beat ali .Tyson in his prime would beat both cause he has a very hard punch,he was fast ,he had a very good style and rocky wooldnt stand long against tyson, and ali couldn run away cause tyson would get him, like frazier did,but much much harder !!
I'm sorry, but i have to disagree with you Ugly,Rocky wouldve beaten Tyson in his prime no question because the immense power and timing of Rocky's punches wouldve put Tyson down sooner or later.A Fight Researcher said that "Rocky would hit you everywhere,He'd hit you on the soles of your fet if he could find them" and in a strategy that he supposedly used,Marciano would beat and batter your arms so that after a while you couldnt hold them up to block effectively, then comes the pain.
tyson had trouble with people who stood up to him...he folded under pressure from holy and lewis..and in his later fights he folded too..now he was old in those fights..but its still a issue of staying in the fight...not saying Rocky would have win...would have been tough given tysons weight advantage..but rocky had a freaky good chin..and i have a hard time seeing tyson taking him out in just one...
well the headbutts definitly had a effect...but three points..1..rocky was a better dirty fighter then anyone.. the other is holyfield was pretty much outfighting tyson throught, though im sure the headbutts had a effect..finally..i have a hard time having sympathy for tyson as far as the whole headbutt thing goes...because tyson was often dirty as well..usually not so much with headbutts..but he would put his elbow into hooks, often not even trying to land the punch/ just hitting with the elbow

@dempsey981 WTF? im a huge tyson fan you must of got me wrong im sick of people saying tyson was not great man ive met mike tyson i have a signed glove from him and i collect all his memorabilia you must be getting me mixed up with someone else pal and yes ive boxed too and ive watched the sport for over 15 years
@jrgniuwer ahhhhhh i see,yer right,i got your message wrong.its a pleasure to meet you.i cant stand morons who berate a skilled fighter like mike was, mostly out of ignorance.tyson was truly a wrecking ball, and very difficult to tag in his prime.nice to meet a fellow fan who appreciates the finer points of the "game".
@dempsey981 thanks mate i cant believe how much people slag tysons achievment off saying in alis day he would of got wooped thats total bullshite, tyson in my oppinion in his prime would of ko'd ali and frazier and norton, not sure about foreman , tysons speed and accuracy has never been seen in any other heavywieght hes a one in every few generations the guys a legend! one of thew greats!
@jrgniuwer i largely share your views as to Mike.my online namesake Dempsey[who mike also adored]would have to be one of my faves.[marciano also moved and punched after jacks lead].Dempsey was just sooo colorful, rags to richs, real life tuff guy,God theres so many good ones....Louis was a total wrecking ball in his prime.i like Rock,Mike. You are right tho,Mike gets criticized a whole lot,and i understand alot of this may be justified.young mike was terrifying.Dempsey was flat idolized and adored.
@dempsey981 oh mate jack demsey the mannasa mauler he was a savage in the ring duing the rawring 20's shame about the long count against gene tunney if only he went back to his own corner when tunney went down and when he demolished jess willard wow that guy was huge but dempsey was an animal yeah thats right dempsey was tysons idol
@dempsey981 i liked tysons quote after the saverese fight when after being asked was that his shortest fight ever amatuer or professional he said 'im the best ever , im the most brutal ,most vicious and most ruthless champion there has ever been, nobody can match me, im sunny liston, im jack dempsey, im from there cloth! my style is impetuoius my defense is impregnable and im just ferosious! love it!
@jrgniuwer i remember your tyson quote, tyson was on a high then,a vicious one!!mike borrowed jacks inside shovel hooks to the head, and used the body shovels too.these short powerful dandys are not often seen in the way mike used them.jack was cold in the ring, ice cold.Hollywood was attractive to him and they employed him alot,of course he rusted out there some.fighters give us a few BRILLIANT years usually.i love those BRILLIANT years.all these champs, are special,it takes courage.
@dempsey981 well said ,its nice to find someone with the same passion for the sport. people think boxing is just some guys hitting each other but they dont realise the courage, skill and heart that goes into it its a man pushed to his limits. you wont get much more out of a human being than when hes in a boxing ring the skill set and dynamics is amazing epecially tysons!
@jrgniuwer there is a common notion among many that mike was unskilled, and simply strong.later in his career his skills did wane but this is common.i dont know where these misnomers come from?mike was supremely skilled offensively and defensively,in fact in EVERY WAY POSSIBLE.The same can be said of Rocky, small heavys dont become champ without skills, thats obvious.Slippin inside a bigger mans defense, and pulverizing him is dangerous and takes great speed and skill.rock and mike excelled at this
@LedWhiskey69 well thank u kindly.i just love this sport when a good match is made.youtube is so great because we all can access this great back log of old fight footage.a fan can learn alot by watching the master fighters here.take care
@puppy5ead mike tyson is the youngest man ever to win the wbc, wba and ibf no one has beat that record since and probably wont tysons speed and power was unbeleivible his timming and accuracy was outstanding as for marciano yes one word great as for you one word prick lol, oh and that guy your talking about who tyson bite was evander holyfeild learn your boxing mate, do some homework then talk boxing till then shut yr mouth
@johnosandra lol, u nutter. i know marciano is greater than tyson but im saying tyson is great too, tyson had more speed ,style and power than marciano! tyson is one of the greatest heavyweights in history!!!!!!!!
@jrgniuwer oh sorry, this was a computer glich error,i need to remove it.i guess my first thought tho,is that it was the beginning of mikes decline losing kevin, and that whole crew.obviously they delivered the real mike,he needed them to sustain that perfect intensity that clearly he lost after he lost them.chemistry is crucial in training a fighter, and great trainers know this well.without freddie roach u guaranteed, will have a different Pacquiao,as an example
@dempsey981 definatly right there i think the whole reason tyson declined is cos when cus died he died a little inside, he won the titles for cus and his memory, although jimmy jacobs did great for tyson , tyson loved that guy he was the only guy he could trust then he died and dirty don king stepped in and it all went down hill from then on,
@jrgniuwer yup,and its there that a critical tyson flaw is revealed. No one is perfect after all.mike was way too high strung, vulnerable, even emotionally unstable if u will.this spilled over,in the ring and thus his gradual demise.again,no ones perfect.a more stable mental, emotional platform would have served him well in the ring.wired mentally as he was ,its amazing he got soooo far.that being said, boxing is full of these kind of guys.its the nature of the sport i guess.
i thought you knew what you were talking about until you talked about tyson... Ali wouldn't run away, he would dance. And Rocky would break Tyson down eventually. Also, Frazier hits almost as hard as tyson, and he has better chin and heart. Tyson just hits harder and he's faster. So say Ali would beat nearly every single heavyweight in his prime.. Besides Maybe Rocky... He Always has a punchers chance...
Rocky would be able to take Tyson's shots, that on it's own is good enough...
@TommyGun7111 friend, ill tell you the honest truth.nobody ever hit marciano as hard or nearly as fast as young mike would have.it is still difficult to speculate as there are certain intangibles in a good fight, including luck itself.even championships can be random, all fights can be a little random.skill normally will prevail, all things equal however.mike was probably more skilled.he was bigger, younger, faster too.still who really knows?
yea im boxin amateur and i know that, u always have a plan on your enemy, but when u get hit u start fightin with your heart not brain, and rocky had heart of a warrior
Of course, to pull it off you would have to have incredibly quick hands; given his short reach, GETTING to his temple and nose would have been a chore. Not impossible though; the uppercut was a punch MADE for leaners. Opponent leans to the left (your left) you throw a left uppercut, the momentum of their leaning, and your uppercut, causes a "crashing" effect. Even Marciano would have been dropped by a punch like that.
Given Marciano's iron jaw, the uppercuts would have had to have been targeted to the nose when he was leaning forward, and to the temple when he was leaning to the right. If a fighter had been fast enough on his feet, they could have angled far enough to hit him in the temple.
Wow; I'm surprised no one spotted that weakness.
If another fighter like Marciano comes along hey, if anyone feels these are good observations, take notes!
No one is invulnerable; as much as I like the fighter personally, he did have a fatal weakness, namely always leaning forward too much, and always leaning to the side too much, a good fighter with an observant eye, if they had worked on their uppercuts, could have exploited that weakness. The key to beating Marciano would have been to set him with rapid fire one twos until he was blind, then, once blinded, tag him with uppercuts.
Marciano had a tendency to lean forward too much during his assaults, and to the right too much to try to avoid damage; most boxers, do not develop their uppercuts, if a boxer in Marciano's time had trained their uppercuts, they could have knocked out Marciano. Ezzard Charles used uppers, in fact that is how he split Marciano's nose, with a missed uppercut.
I finally realized Rocky Marciano's weaknesses, although obviously it is decades too late to exploit it now; obviously he was vulnerable to one-two punch combinations, that most basic boxing combo, however he was always willing to weather it. I remembered, that during his first Walcott fight, Jersey Joe managed to floor him with an uppercut to the temple. Wait, never mind it was a left hook, but it was angled so low it was almost an uppercut, that's probably why I got confused.

@dempsey981 tysons former trainer! what about him dempsey981???
jrgniuwer 1 year ago
@jrgniuwer oh sorry, this was a computer glich error,i need to remove it.i guess my first thought tho,is that it was the beginning of mikes decline losing kevin, and that whole crew.obviously they delivered the real mike,he needed them to sustain that perfect intensity that clearly he lost after he lost them.chemistry is crucial in training a fighter, and great trainers know this well.without freddie roach u guaranteed, will have a different Pacquiao,as an example
dempsey981 1 year ago
@dempsey981 definatly right there i think the whole reason tyson declined is cos when cus died he died a little inside, he won the titles for cus and his memory, although jimmy jacobs did great for tyson , tyson loved that guy he was the only guy he could trust then he died and dirty don king stepped in and it all went down hill from then on,
jrgniuwer 1 year ago

TommyGun7111 2 years ago
@TommyGun7111 friend, ill tell you the honest truth.nobody ever hit marciano as hard or nearly as fast as young mike would have.it is still difficult to speculate as there are certain intangibles in a good fight, including luck itself.even championships can be random, all fights can be a little random.skill normally will prevail, all things equal however.mike was probably more skilled.he was bigger, younger, faster too.still who really knows?

I myself am a rocky fan; check out my stardingo747 account, I have a video of Mike Tyson getting his ass kicked by Rocky.
I am just pointing out, that a weakness is a weakness; Frazier, who used a similar fighting style as Rocky, was uppercuted to death by Foreman.

Like Tyson said... everyone got a plan until they're hit

yea im boxin amateur and i know that, u always have a plan on your enemy, but when u get hit u start fightin with your heart not brain, and rocky had heart of a warrior
rayhutsu 2 years ago 4
That was Joe Louis, actually.
Can't "plan" the exploitation of that weakness instinct it then.
pillsburydoughboy47 2 years ago
That crouch left him too vulnerable to uppercuts; I think that is how Tunney was able to drop Dempsey.
Good thing for the Marciano family no one saw what I have seen here.
pillsburydoughboy47 2 years ago
Of course, to pull it off you would have to have incredibly quick hands; given his short reach, GETTING to his temple and nose would have been a chore. Not impossible though; the uppercut was a punch MADE for leaners. Opponent leans to the left (your left) you throw a left uppercut, the momentum of their leaning, and your uppercut, causes a "crashing" effect. Even Marciano would have been dropped by a punch like that.
pillsburydoughboy47 2 years ago
Given Marciano's iron jaw, the uppercuts would have had to have been targeted to the nose when he was leaning forward, and to the temple when he was leaning to the right. If a fighter had been fast enough on his feet, they could have angled far enough to hit him in the temple.
Wow; I'm surprised no one spotted that weakness.
If another fighter like Marciano comes along hey, if anyone feels these are good observations, take notes!
pillsburydoughboy47 2 years ago
No one is invulnerable; as much as I like the fighter personally, he did have a fatal weakness, namely always leaning forward too much, and always leaning to the side too much, a good fighter with an observant eye, if they had worked on their uppercuts, could have exploited that weakness. The key to beating Marciano would have been to set him with rapid fire one twos until he was blind, then, once blinded, tag him with uppercuts.
pillsburydoughboy47 2 years ago
Marciano had a tendency to lean forward too much during his assaults, and to the right too much to try to avoid damage; most boxers, do not develop their uppercuts, if a boxer in Marciano's time had trained their uppercuts, they could have knocked out Marciano. Ezzard Charles used uppers, in fact that is how he split Marciano's nose, with a missed uppercut.
pillsburydoughboy47 2 years ago
I finally realized Rocky Marciano's weaknesses, although obviously it is decades too late to exploit it now; obviously he was vulnerable to one-two punch combinations, that most basic boxing combo, however he was always willing to weather it. I remembered, that during his first Walcott fight, Jersey Joe managed to floor him with an uppercut to the temple. Wait, never mind it was a left hook, but it was angled so low it was almost an uppercut, that's probably why I got confused.
