So they should ask Robin back in, and invite Jule Felix as well -- she seems the missing link to this band from the beginning; a female voice harmonizing in, instead of their wives. I'd love to hear that lineup today -- Mike and Robin and Julie Felix and this band, on tour again. That's something I'd really get excited about.
Not The Incredible String Band at all. The ISB was Robin Williamson with passengers. When this bunch dispensed with Robin's services they threw away the magic, leaving an OK, workmanlike band that was simply NOT incredible in any way.
@schragemusik I have to disagree. The original ISB was Williamson & Heron. And the rivalry compounded (Just like Lennon & McCartney) to produce something that was more than the sum of the parts.
As in that case, both have produced decent work later... but nothing like the original synergy.
@xtenkfarpl One man's mead...... :-) I found that, very early on (I think I was about 12) I LOVED Robin's songs but HATED Mike Heron's. For me, Robin's real worth showed in his first solo album and increased from there. I love all of Robin's stuff far more than any ISB. Still do.
@schragemusik What can I say?... I enjoy good creative work whenever I find it. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I still think, like Lennon & McCartney, that the interaction was magic (and likewise frictional!), but brought out songs we wouldn't have otherwise. Peace...
@xtenkfarpl Happy to agree to disagree (in the friendliest possible way :-)). The odd thing about the reported 'friction' between Robin and Mike is that Robin does not remember it as being 'anywhere near as much as people say'. He says they had occasional spats but that, for the most part, they rubbed along OK (even sharing apartments for a while). WithOUT wishing to name-drop (honestly - I add this purely for versimilitude) this came into conversation I had with RW only a couple of weeks ago.
I remember The Incredible String Band in the original format. They were probably the single most influential band of the sixties contemporary folk movement. All the negative stuff here smells of jealousy and sour grapes to me. I must dig out their albums from my collection. Thanks for reminding me of a great band and some great songs. I think "The Hedgehog Song" was my favourite back then.
@guitaaress Why should people stating a dislike be down to 'jealousy and sour grapes'? I simply do not like anything that Mike Heron has done. I'm not jealous of him. I simply do not like his music.
"Die"? Well we all do m'lad, you included. At least they're true to themselves. Wait two or three decades and see if you can honestly say that about yourself. Good luck with that and all the best. --EL
Even without Robin,it is great to see Mike on the road and enjoying himself.I would have liked to have been there, even if this song does seem a little over cooked!.
Hmmm. Judgy pudgy puddin'! The light behind the humming birds wings is all !

Fascinating piece of film and reworking of an old favourite. Who cares if it's not the original! This moment is different....

if Mike Heron was there he was off stage because none of these players remotely resemble him.

@davelewis3000 Apart from the one singing and playing accoustic guitar and who happens to be Mike Heron.

A load of shite. Die, ageing hippies, die! I need a fucking bluegrass intervention after this heap of toxic earache.

I saw them on this tour. Pure joy. Ok not the original ISB with Robin. But brilliant performances and of course fantastic songs.
Sorry to see negative comments. This is lovely life-affirming music and the songs will live forever.

I had seen them with Robin, shortly before, great music but the joy wasn't there.
Saw Robin on Sunday, playing harp and telling stories -great.

I was fooled by this crap act when they came to my town during this run. No Robin Willamson? In this format, it's just lame pub music!
