@rreev11 If you read the comments, a 1990 came with a posi while the 1991-1993 came with a locker so the 90 wasnt able to spin both wheels as often as the newer model
@91CTD I had the large SS stickers put on. The rear end was changed for 91-93 to a locker. You can definetly tell the difference between the 90 vs the 91-93. Mine doesn't always spin both tires on a straight line, but the 91-93 lockers do.
@lespaul12001 i know i think the comment that he originally wrote is deleted.... because you can clearly see when it hooks up and both wheels start to spin
Very nice truck, though i hope you don't do too much of that peeling out and hell raising in it or it won't be that nice for very long, they were so limited they are now collectors so take care of that thing and keep it covered because the decals are hard if not impossible to find now. I have a 89 silverado sport w/ 350 TBI and just the sport decal for it is impossible to find now.
i wonder if the ss models have an style side model, i think i seen one but i thinks its a clone, and ive seen an extended cam ss and again that one is prolly a clone
@mikeygreek they did not make a stepside 454 SS those were all fleetside vehicles only. just to be sure i checked with GM because i don't like saying anything like that if i have not checked my facts first. several people put after marked stepside beds on them and put the 454SS logos on it but none of them came from the factory that way, not the 454 SS or the silverado Sport of that time.
i guess you right man i never looked into it. but im sure i seen the 454ss in a stepside but i was never sure if it was factory or a conversion. thanx for the info
Yep, still the stock transmission, original motor with edelbrock cam, headers, and intake. Sounds good and runs strong. Just not as strong as it used to its getting old.
i put a new turbo 400 in mine, the motor has some haltech performance elctronics on it, getiin ready for new pistons crank/camshaft and header on it, nothin really for performance, juss stringer then stock, make it run a lil better
@k454ss They're the same thing 90-93, or any 14 bolt for that matter... , It's an Eaton Gov-Lok RPO code G80. Technically it's a locker, most just call it a posi. GM never used a spring type POSI unit if that's what you're talking about, Nor a clutch type limited slip. They always used the Gov-Lok in the 14 bolts and 10 bolts.
the 90 didnt have the big SS decal

It has posi, comes stock, just not a locker. I have other videos with both tires spinning.

The 1990 comes stock with a 3:73 locking rear end. The 1991 comes stock with a 4:10 locking rear end.
wpgballa92 5 years ago
the 90 comes with posi, not a locker. Locker wasn't introduced to the 454ss until 91.
