You give your opinion after the interview Cenk. You never let him finish a sentence and Liberals do call Conservatives Nazi all the time. When they are Socialists and everyone knows it. Also Hitler took over a Christian nation with plans on getting rid of Christianity. You cherry pick a belt buckle but leave out the ancient Pagan God symbols like ss. Hitler was an evolutionist and there are tons of his words to back up Goldbergs statement. You liberal facist whore.
@cozyfoxstudio Cenk doesn't realize that the Nazis only had "God with us" on the belt buckle because it had been there since WW1. Nazis didn't put it there, however Himmler did try and have it removed.
@Iisdabest889 Hitler wanted to let Chistianity fade out and die off. He ploayed it up it to win the trust of German Christians, just like every American President does. Obamas not a Christian. He's not a Muslim either. He most likely an atheist. He was heavily into the occult, believed the ancient Pagan God were Germanys true heritage and believe Germans were the master race. He was also Stalins good buddy. Cenk totally realizes these things. He just lies about them.
@MrReco12 My statement are accurate. You, like Cenk, don't know what you're talking about or are lying. Its in Hitlers own words and actions. You can't even admit the National Socialists were Socialists. Liberal facists like you support a violent Marxist revolution in America and the continued genocide of millions of unborn children. You should kill yourself.
Let me educate you further: Socialism means that the public or the government own the means of production. In Nazi Germany, the means of production were privately owned making it a monopolistic capitalist state(according to the experts at Nuremberg)
@MrReco12 You can point out all the, differences and nuances to justify your programming, the fact remains, its different flavors of the same Euro Socialist govt controlled, collective failure. Your education is laughable indoctrination to a US constitutionalist. You're believing Stalins anti Hitler propaganda after their wonderful friendship ended. Before hand they were so complementary to each others similarities. Christians don't plan to fade out Christianity or fly Pagan symbols.
The whole premise to link the notions of liberal/conservative to Communism/Fashism is completely absurd. I know Americans love to do it to create explanations, but this pure B.S. It is just scary to hear this complete lack of knowlege about European philosophical and political theory and history on both sides; conservative and progressive.
they took the name because in the early 30's the democratic socialist party, was very popular and hitler and the national german worker party took the name to get votes, and hey goldberg hitler worked with big business to push threw an agenda of fear and hate, hate of foreigners sound familiar america? to make germany so called pure again, this clown needs to read a book, and actually get his head out of his ass.
I have it that some german big buisness did contribute to the nazi party, but mostly they were more inclined to support other right wing parties such as the DNVP [Theres another misnomer for you, "Nationalist" yes but a party for the people?] however big buisness donations were somewhat outweighed by donations from the 'Mittelstrand', This is somewhat in essence the content behind H.A Turner's book "big business and the rise of hitler" you mentioned.
But even Turner argues that Hitler was something of a devout anti-socialist, and that the Nazis were merely nationalists using the adjective socialist out of convenience, ie propaganda. We do have Hitler on record for saying "Socialism! That is an unfortunate word altogether. [...] What does socialism really mean? If people have something to eat and their pleasures, then they have their socialism." - Quoted in H.A. Turner, "German Big Business and the Rise of Hitler", p77.
Therby demonstrating that hitler never knew or accepted what socialism is all about. but hang on a minuite? Doesn't Goldberg and Beck have their pleasures and things to eat? They therfore must be something of a socialist too.
LOL
Hopefully everyone else can see the problem with this definition of socialism.
And on a side, yes to everyone else, it was Drexler that coined the DAP ("German Workers Party") before Hitler even discovered the party. We must also note that Hitler liked to claim in his propaganda that he discovered it extremely early in it's development and became it's 7th member. The truth of the matter can be found in a unsent letter Drexler composed to Hitler during January 1940
"No one knows better than you yourself, my Fuhrer, that you were never the 7th member of the party, but at most the seventh member of the committee, which I asked you join as recruitment director (Werbeobmann). And a few years ago i had to complain to a party office that your first proper membership card of the DAP ... was falsified, with the number 555 being erased and the number 7 entered" - Anton Drexler, quoted in Ian Kershaw, "Hitler (abridged)", p76.
@franks2732 i love it, let the neocons keep shooting themselves in the foot, it makes them look stupid, which is easier then breathing, and fascist? i think goldberg needs to watch my video about socialism vs fascism, and socialist bullshit, dumbass goldberg needs to read a book called big business and the rise of hitler, what a lying sack of shit, goldberg is an idiot, the nazi party was originally called the national german worker's party. not the national socialist party part 2
Oh god Cenk really should have read the book. He really missed the mark in a big way. As a station that is trying to be taken seriously this is a shockingly amateur blunder.
@tarfun5959 Seems to me he did a fine job of ripping Mr. Goldberg a new asshole all the same. The title itself speaks to the general premise of the book. All Cenk used was that and elementary logic...that is all it took....and like any other conservative outside of their echo chamber his ridiculous arguments did not hold up whatsoever.
only time I have seen cenk defeated in a debate. even though i am not a fan of mr. golberg, but he wins this debate. Mussolini structured fascim on lot of socialist principles since he was before that a socialist. except for anti-union , and nationalism, facism is close to democratic principles, facism is not bad its not like nazism, mussolini was not an antisemite, his only mistake was joining hitler. Mussolini origanlly believed in a jewish state. anti-semitism is not that strong in Italy
Last I heard though, Japan was ranked as having the most restricted access to pornography. Which is why they have to resort to more soft core versions such as anime and videos with a lack of nudity.
Wait a second, I thought you were trying to indicate that there was a correlation between rape statistics and porn accessibility?
America has almost NO restrictions on porn, so how are you concluding that PORN in general is responsible for a decrease in murder and rape rates? We have about one of the largest murder rates in the world.
I use Nation Master constantly and have never found sources on there which monitored both Religious demography and porn access.
"This is why I hate conservatives - they believe in one rule for the rich and millions of rules for everyone else."
What does religious fundamentalism have to do with rich people? Are you under the impression that ALL Conservatives are wealthy?
You liberals are such bigoted hypocrites. Why don't you actually scrutinize your own rational. Maybe you would realize how stereotyping a political party doesn't corroborate your "theories".
"Studies show that religious fundamentalism are correlated with higher rates of rape, and that higher pornographic availability correlates with lower rates of rape."
Lmao. What "studies"? Please provide your sources instead of presenting postulations and hypothetical as verified "information". You think I am going to believe something just because it "sounds" authentic and because you use the term "studies"?
Besides, does anyone remember what the term "volkswagen" means? It means "the people's car", it was created by german industry after said industry was NATIONALIZED by Hitler. But i guess the NAZIs didn't take over industry.
@MrReco12 Oh they were oh so private and in no way had to worry about officials from the national socialist micromanaging their business's for their political purposes.
Not entirely true, Read the "Nazi Market place". If you are talking about the war economy, it had a lower tax rate than Churchill Britain and no rationing to 1944.
@MrReco12 Do you mean "Creating the Nazi Market Place" by Wissen? I also read that and the Anatomy of Fascism by Robert Paxton. What I drew from both regarding the Nazi economy was that the business and political elite were allowed to make money and got a great deal of protection from competition through various means from the Nazi government as long as they served the political and social aims of the party. Market forces were always secondary to party desires when the two clashed.
@MrReco12 Lol, Im not... You said he privatized industries... Actually, the original Nazi Plank called for "nationalization of all corporations", "ruthless confiscation of all war profits", "abolition of all income not earned by work" (investment income)... Furthermore, the Nazi economic policy was decidedly Keynesian while HItler was in office... You are the one making a fool of yourself...
@MrReco12 Bravo... I give you some historical facts and you respond by giving me a title... That is the best way to handle things when your wrong... I guess....
@radicalownership National Socialist Party sold off public ownership in several state-owned firms in the middle of the 1930s. The firms belonged to a wide range of sectors: steel, mining, banking, local public utilities, shipyard, ship-lines, railways, etc. In addition to this, delivery of some public services produced by public administrations prior to the 1930s, especially social services and services related to work, was transferred to the private sector
"The National Socialists privatized state-owned enterprises, including the Commerz-Bank, the Dresdner Bank, the Deutsche Bank, Deutsche Schiff-und Machinenbau AG Bremen “Deschimag”, the Deutsche Reichsbahn, Vereinigte Stahlwerke A.G. and other huge corporations. "
I do love exposing rightwing ignorance. HA HA HA! :D
@MrReco12 "MrReco12 knows nothing about Nazi History"
Aha... That was easy.... See, putting quotation marks around statements automatically makes them true. You don't need to use sources or anything... just put Quotation marks around it and it is true....
@MrReco12 Okay, so it was that barely accredited leftist propaganda you cited earlier... Glad to know you have standards... Lol... I just look at what Hitler actually said and did... And, base my views on that...
@MrReco12 Nazi Germany abolished the Gold Standard, fixed Prices and Wages, Taxed Profits very heavily, and vastly expanded Regulation of Business... (and, as another note, they were strong supporters of Nationalized Health Care)... Don't call me the moron when you are the one who has no fucking idea what he's talking about...
Great Britain, France,Poland, US all abolished the gold standard during the depression. Under the Nazi's profits increased by 400%(Ig Farben), Germany had nationalised healthcare in the 19th century etc. and the Nazis actually deregulated workplace: Abolished minimum wage laws, relaxed work safety standards, abolished the 8 hour day etc.
@MrReco12 Lol. And, of course, the Nazi's followed a distinctly Keynesian economic policy.... How much Profits Increased is irrelevant to this point... They taxed profits very heavily... Just like Obama... As for HC, they further edxpanded the State role... And, Nazi's fixed prices and wages...
@radicalownership The government only taxed the profits of self financing firms (AKA actual private companies, not state controlled private ones). The profits (set by the government, mind you) did increase, yes, but to the extent of which the employers could USE the profits was so limited, the profit incentive eventually diminished!
"Nazis fixed prices and wages": So did Winston Churchills government, the US government, France etc. What counties do in major wars. Indeed, Britain begun rationing before Germany did.
"How much Profits Increased is irrelevant to this point..": Rubbish, like Reagan and Pinochet: Hitler supported big business by attacking trade unions and leftist groups.
I suggest you open a book writeen by a real historian like Ian Kewshew and Alan Bullock. Both make it perfectly clear that
@MrReco12 "Rubbish, like Reagan and Pinochet: Hitler supported big business by attacking trade unions and leftist groups."
The amount of control the Nazi Government had over big businesses is too much to be ignored. The government decided what the companies produced, in what quantities, where they were to expand, how much they paid the workers, the prices, etc without booting out the employers. It was de facto nationalization.
@MrReco12 All capital made by a company was under total government control, and the government decided how much profit a company could make depending on its efficiency and how much capital the government needed to use.
Minimum wage laws? I'm pretty sure the government set the wages, not the employers. However the Nazi government did set up welfare for the unemployed, which also set a minimum living standard for German citizens as well.
@MrReco12 Smashed trade unions? You mean like what the Soviet Union did?
Privatisation? I hope you don't think that's synonymous with liberalization and deregulation. The only privatization that went to NON government officials were those still loyal or linked to the party. Hardly privatization!
@radicalownership Hitler didn't stick completely to the original Nazi party platform. Another plank was "freedom of all religion" when we saw clearly government murdering clergymen for either refusing to accept Nazi doctrine, or false accusations!
Also, large industries weren't nationalized officially, but the government had more control over the private sector than it did over the public sector!
Cenk clearly loses this argument. You cannot presume to speak with ANY authority or debate an issue without knowing the content and the basis thereof. If Cenk is going to presume to do his job with any credibility, he should have read the book and then sought to argue point by point on an intellectual basis, instead of attacking Goldberg on purely subjective purely subjective criteria.
@FujiwaraNoGo Partly true... only the ones that actually obeyed him. The classic example is the Junker-run log company that refused to obey the government because it would cause him profit loss; within a week Nazi's occupied the factory and he was swiftly removed, only he was compensated for loss of his company. This only increased, and CEO's really only turned into government pensioners. While they profited, they didn't exactly sell their produce to Hitler, it was either hand it over or else.
@FujiwaraNoGo I don't give a damn about your views on Euthanasia, I'm saying that if conservatives oppose it in any circumstance, then Nazi's can't be extreme conservatives.
@FujiwaraNoGo So that is where the left would disagree with the Nazis. But the right doesn't agree with Euthanasia under any circumstances, so whether or not it's voluntary is irrelevant.
@FujiwaraNoGo Etc...? Besides killing gays which some extreme religious fundamentalists believe in, what else would they support? Research and advancement of Abortion and stem cell research? Euthanasia? Anti Zionism? Destruction of churches and manipulation of others? Anti polish clericalism? What about the reactionaries (religious, german rednecks in this case) being persecuted much like the socialists? He described himself as third way, and his policies were both anti left and anti right.
@FujiwaraNoGo I agree... to a certain extent. He makes valid points however, but really; the Nazi government is the sort of government that neither extreme right wingers nor extreme left wingers want. IE It was both anti capitalist and anti communist.
A left winger would oppose Nazism due to the fact it allows private property, and a right winger would oppose Nazism due to the fact it heavily controls, regulates and essentially runs businesses and private property. Not excluding other factors.
It may seem "unreasonable", but this is the burden that women have to carry (both literally and metaphorically speaking). You can't disregard it just because it SEEMS too hard.
As I said before, you don't see me going around and sticking my dick into every woman I see just because I am hormonal.
Hormones don't LEAD to a lack of disciple. However, your inability to control them IS a lack of discipline.
Who's forcing women into a role of "servitude" here? I didn't say women HAD to give birth and I didn't say they couldn't have sex. They DO however, have to take responsibility for their actions because when they endeavor to appease their hormonal impulses, they are not just affecting themselves but another life which they might possibly bring into this world.
Abstaining from sex isn't the most insane idea. I find it ridicules to believe that ANYONE is incapable of forgoing intercourse at all. People these days lack discipline...I wonder why places such as Japan are absent of high abortion rates and infant birthing...
If you are willing to involve yourself in a situation that gives the possibility of impregnating a woman, then that is on the both of you. You have to take responsibility for your decision. But once that scenario goes horribly wrong and you end up with consequences you didn't want, then it is no longer just YOUR responsibility. You have gambled and lost at that point.
Pregnancy ISN'T an obligation. If a chick doesn't want a child, then she shouldn't fornicate...PERIOD.
I guess that's the equivalent of saying that killing is the job of a soldier, so it's no concern of mine if they just start killing innocents at will.
It is my business when they bring another life into the equation. You have to take ALL the variables into consideration rather than claiming that its merely "THEIR" body.
My HOUSE is MINE as well...Does that mean I have the right to invite you in and murder you? Any of these metaphors working for you?
How so? I'm a man, and I know my responsibility is to NOT put my dick into every woman I meet. We have stringent penalties for men who commit such acts and I think we need some penalties for women who decide to form a life inside their womb and then decide that that life does not matter in the slightest.
I, however, have a different perspective on the matter of abortion in instances involving rape where the development of the child was not the mother's decision.
Jonah made a pathetic argument, and cenk made ignorant comments. The book does not call liberals fascist, it's just claiming that modern 'liberalism' has more in common with fascism than conservatism. I studied Germany's economic history as well as the Nazi ideology, and it's pretty darn clear they were no right wingers. Nor Christans. Just delusional pagans very similar to today's Eco fascist movement.
AGH! Socialism is closer to communism than nazism! Please, by all means, blame us socailists for Mao and Stalin. Don't blame us for Hitler. This is not me saying Hitler is worse than Mao or Stalin, or vice versa, but I sure as hell would rather be a communist who believes that everyone should be treated the same than a nazi who thinks the opposite.
Hitler privatized the economy, arrested union leaders, executed homosexuals(which Goldberg denies), strictly against multiculturalism. etc.
"It again represents an attempt to distance the right from their support of Hitler in the 1930s and ignores that the basis of the German economy under Hitler was a capitalist system where the means of production remained in private hands. "
@hotsizzleakadafizz - you need to learn your history. Hitler was as much a Christian as the Pope is a Muslim. Many label themselves as Christians: followers of Jesus Christ. Few are.
Cenk, I love you, man, but this isn't right. You're not interviewing this person. From the moment he came out you were insulting him. Now don't get me wrong, it was funny, and the whole premise for his book was ridiculous, but you don't invite a person onto a show to talk about his/her book and without reading it just start insulting the person. Either read it so you know what you're talking about and you're not going in blind, or don't bring the person on the show.
@nnjhansen The premise is the basic idea of the book, which is that fascist movements were and are left-wing. You don't need to read the book in its entirety to know what its premise is. And if you knew anything about political science, you'd know that fascism is as far away from the left as you can get. It's a basic principle, and the first thing they teach you in political science. That is why I can say that the premise of the book is ridiculous, because it is.
@LiliFromHali That is why you should read the book before you comment on it. If you had you would learn that the Poli Sci 101 ideas you have regarding fascism being on the right are wrong. You would also learn that no modern scholar of fascism believes it. The idea that fascism is of the right came from Stalin. He held that fascists were right wing but he said the same regarding Trotsky. Mussolini & fascism were understood to be of the left throughout the 20's & 30's.
@MrOdourless sry this is a bit late but obama is not a socialist in fact he's may be the worst democratic president in history. as for obama-care that's a joke he never called for a the government to take over healthcare, that's fox news propaganda. him ,and the american people when polled, only wanted the option to get government healthcare, that's why it's called the public OPTION, since people like CHOICE. just like people have the option of going to public or private school.
I tend to find that his book was very good and definitely and interesting read and as you read some of Hitler's speeches you see the simularities between our current political debate such as a constant need for unity and ending disagreement which only serves the totalitarian needs. He defines what matrix that we all agree.
this guy is a fuckin retard...Mussolini said "Fascism should be called Corporatism, as it is the blending of corporations and government." Mussolini---the father of fascism.
Cenk gets this one entirely wrong. I read the book. All the book does is tear down the assumption that Nazism Hitlerism and Italian fascism were right wing ideologies. He argues that they are just another brand of socialism. One that is on a national level instead of an international level that values the public servant or soldier instead of the "worker." It's actually a good read. I thought this would be a more intelligent discussion.
@dmlauffer liberalism isn't to harm people though. When do you ever hear that? Except from some conservatives some of the time, other times conservatives claim liberals are bleeding heart tree huggers, sounds like good guys to me even from conservative standpoint. Where is there anything saying that liberalism is based on harming people? Liberalismis the belief in the importance of individual liberty and equal rights. That sounds like a good thing to me.
@videowithmeaning I don't know where you read any of the things you subscribe to me. Read the book. It's not a hit piece. It does not say "liberals are fascist" What it does is break down where the ideologies come from. But on your point that liberalism is the belief in individual rights, I would agree but no liberal today believes that
@videowithmeaning I guess first you should describe what each word, liberal and fascism means. I think liberalism is generally helping the greatest good, perhaps through Government but not fascism which would be help the people in control not the society/citizens as a whole. Fascism I always heard was basically like socialism except to help corporations/elite/rulers and not to help the greater good.
@dmlauffer There were real socialist parties in Germany and Italy, and the fascists viewed them as enemies of the state. Socialism is about downward redistribution of wealth, not some kind of authoritarian nationalistic vesting of power in one man. Authoritarian nationalism is basically the definition of a right wing political philosophy. These aren't hard concepts, and I don't think that Goldberg really believes much of what he's saying. Mostly, I think he wanted to sell books.
@velocity679 Yes there were other socialist parties in Germany. But think about the US today. The green party will sometimes challenge the democrats, but usually will vote for them. And they would probably be challenging democrats first in caucuses in order to gain their support weakening democrat candidates before general elections against republicans. Nazi supporters in Germany consisted mostly of former Marxists and leftists who liked the nationalistic approach of socialism.
@dmlauffer I think the title does piss people off. I would like to start reading another book called The Road to Serfdom. It basically says the same thing that NAZIism was not different than Communism in different ways.
At 2:58 Cenk losses what little intellectual credibility he had at the outset. By saying he simply didn't give a damn about H.G. Wells or for that matter that Goldberg was writing a history is little less than a farce. National Socialism had its banker hangers on in Germany, but it was not by default a conservative movement then. Ultimately Jonah's book is about progressive sympathy for the state and how fascism holds similar statist goals.
Where the definition of fascist is equated to right wing extremism. But Conservatives like these don't like dictionaries because the English language is now a left wing conspiracy.
For the record, I read Liberal Fascism. And as a person who's studied it for years I must say, it's hilariously stupid. So many lies, distortions, and just an overall terrible analysis. He said it wasn't meant to be an academic book, but free from academia doesn't mean free from facts. I'd recommend it to anyone who DOES NOT want to know what fascism is. Now if folks want to know what it is, I suggest Robert O. Paxton, George Seldes, or R.J.B Bosworth. Much more informed and intelligent.
Normally I resist reverting to insults, but, we all know Cenk is a Moron, but in this video, he is even more childish than he normally is. He's judging the book from the title, I've listened to most this book and basically everything Cenk has said was a figment of his immigination, this Jonah guy is very correct. Don't take his words for it, look at some history books. I think they stopped teaching "real" history in schools a long time ago, it's usually Leftist propaganda now...
@Chaaarge BECAUSE FASCISM IS SUCH A FUCKING COMMON SUBJECT THAT IT CAN BE EASILY ARGUED WITHOUT NEEDING A RETARDED BOOK THAT SAYS DICTATORS ARE THE SAME AS PROGRESSIVES
If you don't speak German get transcripts of speeches by Hitler and other famous Nazis and fascists. Christianity is the cornerstone of their ideology. Hitler's speeches sound so much like the speeches of American so called conservatives it's uncanny. So it is fabulously bizarre that they try to connect (or LOL, is it equate!?) fascism with what they perceive to be left wing.
@hamnose Yep. I call the contemporary equivalent in the US and even in the UK to a lesser degree, "Nu Fascism." At first I wanted to call it creeping Fascism but I wanted a sound-bite. All of the tactics and ideology has it's contemporary equivalent in today's neo con movement. Much of it can be seen in how the NAZI, National Fascist Party and the FET y de las JONS operated. Each of the three together had there own similarities more with Nu Fascism than they had with each other. Only more subtle
while I completely agree with Cenk on this one, i think he should've been a little less aggressive on this one. It made him come off as a bit of a bully, he should've let Goldberg finish his insane argument before picking it apart.
If you actually read it, you will know that he's not implying all Liberal are Fascists.
I can't really sum it up in a few words, but HItler was a National Socialist, Socialism is generally linked with the left, Such as Obama, he's introduced "Obama care" he wants a national health service, this is a social service.
Liberals are under then impression Socialism is a good thing, but it's not. People like Hitler tried it...
@eltox86 I'm from Portugal so i know about fascism (our fascism only ended 35 years ago). Fascism isn't a right or left issue. Its authoritarian in nature, yes (so yes, right wing) but economically it was corporatist (not in the sense used by the Americans) ie, sectors/companies were organized in such a way that they were to cooperate to some extent for the good of society (tremendous regulation).
@xadam2dudex I thought it was evident he wasn't trying to do that. Thats where Cenk jumped the gun aswell.
And Nazi Mysticism wasn't based on Christian Theology, but most Germans (including Hitler for most of his life) were Christians not Paganists or Occultists. There was a connection between the nazi party and the occult mysticism but its not the one you're trying to make. It was used as a sorts of historical romanticism and revivalism rather than state religion or something of the ilk.
I think Cenk should've just asked the guy softballs like "Could you please elaborate on that?", because this guy stumbles over his own words so damn well on his own, Cenk didn't need to do any "nailing".
I think the Germans know best what Nazis are and they consider Nazis right-wing, meaning not progressive.
Also, the nazis hated the communists. Enough to send them to concentration camps and/or jail them. Not exactly the how someone would treat their counterpart, is it now?
@tomitstube If I'm interviewing you for a show, then I would probably feel obligated to read it, though I doubt I would if I had a show. I don't know what your analogy is trying to make light of either by the way. Do you disagree that hosts should have knowledge of the specific subject matter on which they are interviewing a person?
@fauyd ~ cenk had him on the show to rip him a new one, the book is a pile of right wing bullshit fiction. you don't have to read the damn thing if you have rudimentary knowledge of wwii or some history of the 20 century. the title is ignorant enough! the nazi's, mussolini, and franco were all fascists. they were right wingers, progressives of that era were victims of these lunatics. it's like you wrote a book that said "civil rights racism: the secret of black people starting the kkk."
Honestly I usually am with Cenk and TYT but this time I am 100% against him. He was just a major dick and he decides not to read a book because he doesn't like the title...sorry but that just sounds like a spoiled child. "I'm not reading that because I don't like the title and it's wasting my precious time"...wow! And also Cenk is wrong the Nazi's were NOT Christian and that's pretty obvious. Hitler forced people to worship him instead of Christ, self glorification is a major sin in Christianity
@hotsizzleakadafizz If mr.Goldberg said that communists were atheists, than he would made a good point. The communists famos quot was "religion is the opium of the people"!But it is still not OK to compare atheists to one of the most brutal dictatorship in the World, even if there is a grain of truth behind your opinion.
It just builds more hate betwen the religius and atheist part of America. And atheists being a minority will get the short end of the stick.
@torca1950ancola well, Pol Pot killed many, and he was atheists :(
Also, Christians take the blunt of it the way I see it. I see non-Christians claiming to be Christians, doing horrible things, then Christians being blamed for it. Look at Cenk's news on the house burning down for $75, he blamed Christians, with no evidence that they were Christian fire fighters at all.
@bluefootedpig Yes i saw that firefighter segment and he wasnt blaming the Christians. He blamed the Republicans(they are not the leaders of Christianity).
I know that Pol Pot,Stalin and Mao killed alot of people and they were Atheist, but they didnt kill because they were Atheist. They killed because they had a radical beliefe of the communist sistem.
Now Hitler being Christian dosent mean that all Christians are psyhotic maniacks, just like Pol Pot being Atheist dosent make them all the same.
@hotsizzleakadafizz No,no my friend Hitler was a Christian.Hitler thought that the only way to make Germany strong is to unite the northern Protestant part with the southern Catholic part by telling them to put your country(nation) first before your religion. He also thought that Germany can only be a super power if it had one leader(Fuher) and one party(nazi:National Socialist German Workers Party).
You may call that self glorification, but not all Christians live very moral lifes.
@torca1950ancola 13th December, 1941, midnight: "Christianity is an invention of sick brains: one could imagine nothing more senseless, nor any more indecent way of turning the idea of the Godhead into a mockery...When all is said, we have no reason to wish that the Italians and Spaniards should free themselves from the drug of Christianity. Let's be the only people who are immunised against the disease." - Adolf Hitler
Thats right,Hitler invaded the Soviet Union.Even tho he didnt make peace with Britain and he didnt secure his western front.
So why did he do it?
To lead Germany to her own destruction!
Im guessing a perfect time to denounce your faith in 1941.,isn it.
But before he was a Christian,in his rise to power. But we got to agree that near the wars end he got a little crazy.Saing that about Christianity was not the worse thing he did.
@torca1950ancola I think a little crazy is an understatement haha :P. But I see where you are coming from, although I do believe even before his rise to power he was involved in some occult. Not 100% sure so I can't say i'm correct in that sense. Also though to say you are a Christian is one thing but to actually be one is another. I'm sure if he did not advertise himself as a "Christian" he wouldn't have gotten much support from citizens in Germany.
I realy think he was Christian, not Super-Christian,but Christian non the less.
Maybe he didnt go to Church alot.Like i didnt back in the day when i was Catholic, but i still considered my self as a Christian, because i believed that Jesus Christ was my lord and savior. Luckaly im Atheist now :)
Whether or not hitler was a professed Christian does not matter because he was not a true Christian and did not live according to the word of God, the ten commandments says You Shall Not Murder. Plain and simple. Calling yourself a Christian does not mean you are, same with anything else.
@CapricousCapricorn1 Alot of people dont live by the word of God and still call them selfs Christians and the moral warriors of their comunity.Bill O'Reilly,Glenn Beck,Bill Bennett,Newt Gingrich,David Vitter and that just in America.
And that "thal shal not kill" bullshit,no one sems to take seriously. If everybody took it seriously, murder would be wiped out off the face of the Earth.
I am a Atheist and i dont need some ancient text to tell me not to kill.I think as human beigns we know that :)
@CapricousCapricorn1 Yea we are the puppets xD.Following a invisible being and obeying his every command he makes (that is a definition of a puppet)
Oh...and wishing something bad to happen to someone who has a diffrent belief than you, isnt very Christian.
I think Al-Qaida is looking for new members :) you just have to call your God-Alah insted of Jesus and blow your self up in front of infidels.By your definition you will get in to Heaven and sent me to Hell.Dont be suprised if it isent true xD
@CapricousCapricorn1 Have you ever seen hell (not the one in your home),but the real deal?NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!And since i dont believe in that shit, its not going to happen. But since you do,i think trolling around the internet is a sin to the Internet God and there is a special place in hell for guis like you xD,but dont worry about it there is a way out.You just have to write on your keybord 10 hail Maries and also write a 100 Im a Dumbass piece of religios shit and you be OK...for now xD
Im going to tell you this once and only once. You are a worthless shit. With all the talking you do you are still going to answer to God someday, until then enjoy what you can of your useless, shitty life you miserable ass creep.

I have it that some german big buisness did contribute to the nazi party, but mostly they were more inclined to support other right wing parties such as the DNVP [Theres another misnomer for you, "Nationalist" yes but a party for the people?] however big buisness donations were somewhat outweighed by donations from the 'Mittelstrand', This is somewhat in essence the content behind H.A Turner's book "big business and the rise of hitler" you mentioned.
theyounghistorian77 8 months ago
@whedonfreak (2)

They therfore must be something of a socialist too.

theyounghistorian77 8 months ago

And on a side, yes to everyone else, it was Drexler that coined the DAP ("German Workers Party") before Hitler even discovered the party. We must also note that Hitler liked to claim in his propaganda that he discovered it extremely early in it's development and became it's 7th member. The truth of the matter can be found in a unsent letter Drexler composed to Hitler during January 1940
theyounghistorian77 8 months ago

Market forces were always secondary to party desires when the two clashed.

@radicalownership National Socialist Party sold off public ownership in several state-owned firms in the middle of the 1930s. The firms belonged to a wide range of sectors: steel, mining, banking, local public utilities, shipyard, ship-lines, railways, etc. In addition to this, delivery of some public services produced by public administrations prior to the 1930s, especially social services and services related to work, was transferred to the private sector

radicalownership 4 months ago

Both make it perfectly clear that
MrReco12 4 months ago
@MrReco12 "Rubbish, like Reagan and Pinochet: Hitler supported big business by attacking trade unions and leftist groups."
The amount of control the Nazi Government had over big businesses is too much to be ignored. The government decided what the companies produced, in what quantities, where they were to expand, how much they paid the workers, the prices, etc without booting out the employers. It was de facto nationalization.
Iisdabest889 4 months ago
@MrReco12 All capital made by a company was under total government control, and the government decided how much profit a company could make depending on its efficiency and how much capital the government needed to use.
Minimum wage laws? I'm pretty sure the government set the wages, not the employers. However the Nazi government did set up welfare for the unemployed, which also set a minimum living standard for German citizens as well.
Iisdabest889 4 months ago
@MrReco12 Smashed trade unions? You mean like what the Soviet Union did?
Privatisation? I hope you don't think that's synonymous with liberalization and deregulation. The only privatization that went to NON government officials were those still loyal or linked to the party. Hardly privatization!
Iisdabest889 4 months ago
@radicalownership Hitler didn't stick completely to the original Nazi party platform. Another plank was "freedom of all religion" when we saw clearly government murdering clergymen for either refusing to accept Nazi doctrine, or false accusations!
Also, large industries weren't nationalized officially, but the government had more control over the private sector than it did over the public sector!
Iisdabest889 4 months ago
Cenk clearly loses this argument. You cannot presume to speak with ANY authority or debate an issue without knowing the content and the basis thereof.

1: That can lead to health risks
2: It is immoral and ILLEGAL
AngerIsInMyBlood 11 months ago
@FujiwaraNoGo
AngerIsInMyBlood 11 months ago
@FujiwaraNoGo
Abstaining from sex isn't the most insane idea. I find it ridicules to believe that ANYONE is incapable of forgoing intercourse at all. People these days lack discipline...I wonder why places such as Japan are absent of high abortion rates and infant birthing...
AngerIsInMyBlood 11 months ago
@FujiwaraNoGo

AngerIsInMyBlood 11 months ago
@FujiwaraNoGo

Either read it so you know what you're talking about and you're not going in blind, or don't bring the person on the show.
LiliFromHali 1 year ago
@LiliFromHali Have you read the book? If not, how do you conclude its premise is ridiculous.
nnjhansen 1 year ago
@nnjhansen The premise is the basic idea of the book, which is that fascist movements were and are left-wing. You don't need to read the book in its entirety to know what its premise is. And if you knew anything about political science, you'd know that fascism is as far away from the left as you can get. It's a basic principle, and the first thing they teach you in political science. That is why I can say that the premise of the book is ridiculous, because it is.
LiliFromHali 1 year ago
@LiliFromHali That is why you should read the book before you comment on it. If you had you would learn that the Poli Sci 101 ideas you have regarding fascism being on the right are wrong. You would also learn that no modern scholar of fascism believes it. The idea that fascism is of the right came from Stalin. He held that fascists were right wing but he said the same regarding Trotsky. Mussolini & fascism were understood to be of the left throughout the 20's & 30's.

this guy is a fuckin retard...Mussolini said "Fascism should be called Corporatism, as it is the blending of corporations and government." Mussolini---the father of fascism.
SeerSucker1981 1 year ago
Cenk gets this one entirely wrong. I read the book. All the book does is tear down the assumption that Nazism Hitlerism and Italian fascism were right wing ideologies. He argues that they are just another brand of socialism. One that is on a national level instead of an international level that values the public servant or soldier instead of the "worker." It's actually a good read. I thought this would be a more intelligent discussion.
dmlauffer 1 year ago
@dmlauffer liberalism isn't to harm people though. When do you ever hear that? Except from some conservatives some of the time, other times conservatives claim liberals are bleeding heart tree huggers, sounds like good guys to me even from conservative standpoint. Where is there anything saying that liberalism is based on harming people? Liberalismis the belief in the importance of individual liberty and equal rights. That sounds like a good thing to me.
videowithmeaning 1 year ago
@videowithmeaning I don't know where you read any of the things you subscribe to me. Read the book. It's not a hit piece. It does not say "liberals are fascist" What it does is break down where the ideologies come from. But on your point that liberalism is the belief in individual rights, I would agree but no liberal today believes that
dmlauffer 1 year ago
@videowithmeaning I guess first you should describe what each word, liberal and fascism means. I think liberalism is generally helping the greatest good, perhaps through Government but not fascism which would be help the people in control not the society/citizens as a whole. Fascism I always heard was basically like socialism except to help corporations/elite/rulers and not to help the greater good.
videowithmeaning 1 year ago
@dmlauffer There were real socialist parties in Germany and Italy, and the fascists viewed them as enemies of the state. Socialism is about downward redistribution of wealth, not some kind of authoritarian nationalistic vesting of power in one man. Authoritarian nationalism is basically the definition of a right wing political philosophy. These aren't hard concepts, and I don't think that Goldberg really believes much of what he's saying. Mostly, I think he wanted to sell books.
velocity679 1 year ago
@velocity679 Yes there were other socialist parties in Germany. But think about the US today. The green party will sometimes challenge the democrats, but usually will vote for them. And they would probably be challenging democrats first in caucuses in order to gain their support weakening democrat candidates before general elections against republicans. Nazi supporters in Germany consisted mostly of former Marxists and leftists who liked the nationalistic approach of socialism.
dmlauffer 1 year ago
@velocity679 And 'socialist russia' wasn't authoritarian at all?
timbosforporn 1 year ago
@dmlauffer I think the title does piss people off. I would like to start reading another book called The Road to Serfdom. It basically says the same thing that NAZIism was not different than Communism in different ways.
timbosforporn 1 year ago
At 2:58 Cenk losses what little intellectual credibility he had at the outset. By saying he simply didn't give a damn about H.G. Wells or for that matter that Goldberg was writing a history is little less than a farce. National Socialism had its banker hangers on in Germany, but it was not by default a conservative movement then. Ultimately Jonah's book is about progressive sympathy for the state and how fascism holds similar statist goals.
GOPsithlord 1 year ago

Raxer21 1 year ago
Normally I resist reverting to insults, but, we all know Cenk is a Moron, but in this video, he is even more childish than he normally is. He's judging the book from the title, I've listened to most this book and basically everything Cenk has said was a figment of his immigination, this Jonah guy is very correct. Don't take his words for it, look at some history books. I think they stopped teaching "real" history in schools a long time ago, it's usually Leftist propaganda now...
MrOdourless 1 year ago
I do enjoy watching the young turks, but in this interview, cenk is just being stupid. He's literally judging the book by its cover.

@Chaaarge yeh I agree even if the book is stupid- he can only really criticise the
book if he reads it.

So it is fabulously bizarre that they try to connect (or LOL, is it equate!?) fascism with what they perceive to be left wing.
hamnose 1 year ago
@hamnose Yep. I call the contemporary equivalent in the US and even in the UK to a lesser degree, "Nu Fascism." At first I wanted to call it creeping Fascism but I wanted a sound-bite. All of the tactics and ideology has it's contemporary equivalent in today's neo con movement. Much of it can be seen in how the NAZI, National Fascist Party and the FET y de las JONS operated. Each of the three together had there own similarities more with Nu Fascism than they had with each other. Only more subtle

Benito was also a fan of American cinema, specifically identifying with the alpha male bravado of John "The Duke" Wayne's career.

while I completely agree with Cenk on this one, i think he should've been a little less aggressive on this one. It made him come off as a bit of a bully, he should've let Goldberg finish his insane argument before picking it apart.
lbss1238062 1 year ago
@lbss1238062
Insane because you say it's insane?
Have you read the book?

Runesocesius 1 year ago
@xadam2dudex I thought it was evident he wasn't trying to do that. Thats where Cenk jumped the gun aswell.
And Nazi Mysticism wasn't based on Christian Theology, but most Germans (including Hitler for most of his life) were Christians not Paganists or Occultists. There was a connection between the nazi party and the occult mysticism but its not the one you're trying to make. It was used as a sorts of historical romanticism and revivalism rather than state religion or something of the ilk.
Runesocesius 1 year ago
I think Cenk should've just asked the guy softballs like "Could you please elaborate on that?", because this guy stumbles over his own words so damn well on his own, Cenk didn't need to do any "nailing".

I think the Germans know best what Nazis are and they consider Nazis right-wing, meaning not progressive.
Also, the nazis hated the communists. Enough to send them to concentration camps and/or jail them. Not exactly the how someone would treat their counterpart, is it now?

what was the point of having him on the show Cenk?

@tomitstube If I'm interviewing you for a show, then I would probably feel obligated to read it, though I doubt I would if I had a show. I don't know what your analogy is trying to make light of either by the way. Do you disagree that hosts should have knowledge of the specific subject matter on which they are interviewing a person?
fauyd 1 year ago

Hitler forced people to worship him instead of Christ, self glorification is a major sin in Christianity
hotsizzleakadafizz 1 year ago
@hotsizzleakadafizz If mr.Goldberg said that communists were atheists, than he would made a good point. The communists famos quot was "religion is the opium of the people"!But it is still not OK to compare atheists to one of the most brutal dictatorship in the World, even if there is a grain of truth behind your opinion.
It just builds more hate betwen the religius and atheist part of America. And atheists being a minority will get the short end of the stick.
torca1950ancola 1 year ago
@torca1950ancola well, Pol Pot killed many, and he was atheists :(
Also, Christians take the blunt of it the way I see it. I see non-Christians claiming to be Christians, doing horrible things, then Christians being blamed for it. Look at Cenk's news on the house burning down for $75, he blamed Christians, with no evidence that they were Christian fire fighters at all.
bluefootedpig 1 year ago
@bluefootedpig Yes i saw that firefighter segment and he wasnt blaming the Christians. He blamed the Republicans(they are not the leaders of Christianity).
I know that Pol Pot,Stalin and Mao killed alot of people and they were Atheist, but they didnt kill because they were Atheist. They killed because they had a radical beliefe of the communist sistem.
Now Hitler being Christian dosent mean that all Christians are psyhotic maniacks, just like Pol Pot being Atheist dosent make them all the same.

hotsizzleakadafizz 1 year ago
@hotsizzleakadafizz No,no my friend Hitler was a Christian.Hitler thought that the only way to make Germany strong is to unite the northern Protestant part with the southern Catholic part by telling them to put your country(nation) first before your religion. He also thought that Germany can only be a super power if it had one leader(Fuher) and one party(nazi:National Socialist German Workers Party).
You may call that self glorification, but not all Christians live very moral lifes.
torca1950ancola 1 year ago 6
@torca1950ancola 13th December, 1941, midnight: "Christianity is an invention of sick brains: one could imagine nothing more senseless, nor any more indecent way of turning the idea of the Godhead into a mockery...When all is said, we have no reason to wish that the Italians and Spaniards should free themselves from the drug of Christianity. Let's be the only people who are immunised against the disease." - Adolf Hitler
hotsizzleakadafizz 1 year ago
@hotsizzleakadafizz Yes in 1941.What happend that summer in 1941?
Thats right,Hitler invaded the Soviet Union.Even tho he didnt make peace with Britain and he didnt secure his western front.
So why did he do it?
To lead Germany to her own destruction!
Im guessing a perfect time to denounce your faith in 1941.,isn it.
But before he was a Christian,in his rise to power. But we got to agree that near the wars end he got a little crazy.Saing that about Christianity was not the worse thing he did.
torca1950ancola 1 year ago
@torca1950ancola I think a little crazy is an understatement haha :P. But I see where you are coming from, although I do believe even before his rise to power he was involved in some occult. Not 100% sure so I can't say i'm correct in that sense. Also though to say you are a Christian is one thing but to actually be one is another. I'm sure if he did not advertise himself as a "Christian" he wouldn't have gotten much support from citizens in Germany.

@hotsizzleakadafizz I know, its hard to be sarcastic when your writing xD
I realy think he was Christian, not Super-Christian,but Christian non the less.
Maybe he didnt go to Church alot.Like i didnt back in the day when i was Catholic, but i still considered my self as a Christian, because i believed that Jesus Christ was my lord and savior. Luckaly im Atheist now :)

@torca1950ancola
