  • the engine on the 2002-2011 Saab 9-3

    Engine

    1.8L Ecotec I4 16-valve

    2.0L Ecotec I4 Turbocharged

    2.8L LP9 V6 24-valve Turbocharged

    1.9L I4 Turbodiesel 8 & 16-valve

    2.2L I4 Turbodiesel 16-valve

  • RIP SAAB

  • you guys are a bunch of noobs, saab is a well known european car which delivers alot of comfort, it will prolly be the best comfort car you will ever drive.

  • saab 9-3 considered a sports car?

  • The only thing common on American roads are American and Japanese cars.

  • @MacGyver920 ... do you live in america?

  • @iudnnobasszal But everybody knows that.

  • I picked up one of these in Arctic White w/ black interior a few days ago. I had an Audi before this, and I must say that this car is more fun and more stylish than my Audi was. Don't get me wrong, I loved both cars, but I just think that the Saab has a little more personality and uniqueness than its similarly-priced and well-known competitors. It's such a fun car, it looks great, sounds great, and feels great.

  • @MKtagteamer Hey, how's its reliablilty? has it done anything unexpected?

  • @contractki11er So far, everything is running as if it is brand new from the factory. The engine is broken in and I have no complaints or anything to report on about issues. Also, it weathered its first snow storm and handled absolutely great with the XWD. I was passing other cars that were sliding backwards downhill with no problem whatsoever.

  • @MKtagteamer Thanks for the quick reply! I was looking at some but didn't know much about their history, but seems like its good for the snowy weather here :)

  • @TKMVillar i hear ya on that one, hell my 86 900 turbo had better gas mileage than these new ones. from 91-2004 didnt pay Any attention to SAAB

  • I grab cars from time to time to fool around with of all varieties. I now have a 2000 Saab 9-3 convertible, 5spd as my toy. It's a great performer (quick) and great car (quality build). I only had one car that handled better (81 porsche 924t) I can only imagine this 9-3 line has gotten better in time. The newest model looks great.

  • the 2002-present Saab 9-3 is assembled in

Trollhättan, Sweden (sedan 2002-, wagon 2005- and convertible 2010-)

  • i am happy to drive my hatchback 2000 9-3. i do not like this sedan. but it has been confirmed that the 2012/3 saab 9-3 will be in hatchback form. so until then, i won't change my car. hopefully saab economy will survive so they can launch this car.

  • I just want the hatchback to come back.

  • This isn't the Saab I knew in the 80's...

  • @TKMVillar I'm currently looking for a new saab, given that the 18 year old 9000 CC i usually drive is...well, dying.

I'm thinking saab again, and probably the 9-3, but i'm somewhat dissapointed in the lack of rubber bumber! It might look a bit stupid, but it's actually really neat. They should bring back some of the old ideas.

  • I love Saab's! (Yeah, I'm Swedish) ;)

  • i WiSH i was SwediSH.

  • H I V HEADLIGHTS

  • I purchased a 2010 Aero sedan model. It is THE most comfortable car I have ever driven! It's fun to drive, handles great and has every option included that I could ever want. Saab's XWD (all wheel drive) system is far more advanced then Audi or BMW. Since there is a new design coming out in late 2011 I received a substantial discount off of the sticker price as well as 0% financing! I have driven the Audi A3 and A4 and I would take this car over both of them. Consider Saab when looking!

  • does anyone know how to switch off 2003 saab 9-3 headlights? sometimes when after parking the car, cuz of doing something in the car, i need to turn the light off. cant find a button.

  • @qi1f When sitting in the driver's seat, look to the left side of the steering wheel (if in a right-hand-drive). You will find a knob-like switch which, in alot of European cars, is used to control the lights. Turn that anti-clockwise to switch off the lights.

  • @HardyShevs thanks for your help, but i dont think i cant do that, cuz my car is US 9-3, and i dont wanna do tech II. but thanks anyway.

  • the only market for saabs are the bay area and new england

  • Whenever I mention to people that I own a Saab 9-3, they reply: "Should've got a Suburu WRX".

  • @owhsht310 Saab has a lot more luxury and the prestige of a European luxury company. Subaru competes with Honda, Mazda, etc. Saab compares with Volvo, Audi, etc. So while the WRX is faster, that's all it's known for.

  • @DJFG85

Saab is not considered some "luxury brand" in Sweden, much less in continental Europe where they are hardly sold at all.

Nobody in the right mind would pick a Saab over an Audi, even in Sweden, unless they let their pettyminded loyalty to "local brands" (that's a good one) get the better of them.

Saab used to make good affordable cars which made that company, now they are trying to survive being a small niche "luxury" car. Can't think of any other brand with that absurd idea.

  • @McLarenMercedes Everything you said was a matter of opinion. Give Saab time and they will do just fine. And they were never known as an "affordable" brand. You are thinking of VW.

  • My uncle bought his 2010 Saab at Saab of Walnut Creek. Go Saab!!! =)

  • I was never a SAAB lover until a friend of mine (GM at the dealership told me to take one for a ride) I ended up driving a new 2008 93 Aero V6 Turbo exactly like this one home. I still have it with no plans to sell it. Wow I love my SAAB. Better than driving something everyone has. I've had so many compliments at gas stations, drive thru's to one guy actually following me to see what I was driving. It really is a great car. A bit road noisy if you're on a rough road...otherwise perfect!

  • Saab has had the 'three-part grille' since the early 70s with the Saab 99

  • Stop harboring animosity towards GM. Like it or not, they did their best with Saab. All I can say about GM is that they made a wise choice selling it rather than destroying it.

    Long Live Svenska Aeroplan Aktie-Bolag!

  • FUCK AMERICAN CARS..... PERIOD. cant do a damn thing right. i should know because i work on them every day and im sick of it.

  • @lilsk8rby SAABs ARE AWSOME!!!!!!!!!

  • I've got a 2005 9-3 as my first car, even though it's a GM it's still a good car, it's plenty fast on the freeway and feels safe during midnight blizzards. The passing power is phenomenal, I just put the foot down and I'm going 90+. If you're looking for a cheap car that gets you from A to B in comfort, this is a great choice.

  • lol

  • whenever i pass by another saab 9-3/900 owner, they always wave to me. now when i see the newer saabs they just drive them like any other car. i miss the old saab and the saab drivers.

  • lmao..idiosyncratic???

  • luck at the build quality at 3:50 when she pishes the button...

  • @cristian821987 it doesn't help the Saab's part in the fact that she missed the button and pushed down on the plastic

  • @burgandy25 no...you miss the point..the point is that the plastic moved it shouldn't do that...and that looks cheap

  • @cristian821987 yeah true point given, haha, I think the new 9-5 has good quality, they have put a lot of time and effort into that car, I think it will have hight quality, it should have with that sticker price. Am I correct tho in saying that they are going to be coming out with a new 9-3 by 2012?

  • i wanted to buy one i've tested it and buess what....i have a bmw....

  • Its not rare now, since they gave them away for nothing, now I see a lot more of them.

  • Saab is a great car. I just bought one and I love it. It truly runs with the other european brands, but has a better image.

  • Even if I was a rich fucker, I would love to have a 9-3 Aero. No Mercedes or BMW for me, they are way to common where I live. A Saab is rare, stylish, fast, and perfect for any person.

  • I WISH GM WLD JST GO OUTTA BUSINESS ALREADY THEY HAV NO REASON 2 B IN BUSINESS ANYMORE PRETTY MUCH EVRY 1 HAS BOUGHT JAPANESE CARS + GERMAN CARS DIE GM :D

  • is saab 9-3 good?

  • @llHyRaXll It really depends on what you are looking for in a car. It is a solid vehicle and gets you from point A to point B without any issues.

  • @kbb i think somone said somthing about it being a chevy?? also does it drive well?? ive driven civics, camrys, accords, then i tried volkswagen jetta, and bmw 325 adn the handling and driving was 10 tiems better with the VW and bmw....so does it drive nice or not really?

  • @kbb

I wouldn't pay 30,000 for a vehicle to take me from point a to b. More like $10,000.

  • @MrAntihumanism

You must be the kind of person that enjoy's driving a Hyundai Accent or a Nissan Versa, and nothing's wrong with that; but you drive your 10k car you can also watch myself or anyone else that drives a 9-3 blow your car off the road...

  • @kbb Have a 9 3 myself. Love it. As you said, it is a no nonsense car that will get you around very safely, economically and in comfort with no real issues as long as you maintain it. (oil changes, etc.)

  • @kbb It does a lot more than that. It handles great and is one of the safest cars on the road.

  • @kbb A lot of cars can do that for a lot less. I don't know if that should be the only criterion.

  • @kbb >ur wrong.A Saab is more than taking u from point A to point B!! Own one, then talk.

  • @llHyRaXll I have a 2008 2.0T, my families 3rd Saab. I love the car. Drives great and gets fantastic economy. I highly endorse the car!!!

  • @rms1163 ok i will definately test drive it!

  • @llHyRaXll Yes. If GM wasn't absolutely stupid between my father's 2003 9-3 to this particular model, then you will love the way this car drives. Close to zero turbo lag (which is so much better than other stock turbo'd cars can say) and actually accelerates surprisingly fast. When you step on it, this thing flies!

  • @llHyRaXll my wife got into a bad accident with her 9-3 ($10k damage to the front end) and she walked away without a scratch. It is a fun car to drive, and fuel efficient.

  • I can honestle say that SAAB 9-3 is a very durable automobile; what makes SAAB so great is it is a car that likes to be driven and the quality is excellent. It all depends on what price range, engine size and if you want Swedish or German!

  • Furthermore, I would prefer a 9-3 (I know this because I own one, a 2009) over a 3-Series, C-Class, or IS any day. GO Svenska Aeroplan AB!

  • I know this will be interpreted as very controversial, but try not to harbor animosity towards GM. I truly believe that they did their best, and some of my fondest memories of these vehicles will be when they were under GM's control. Do I believe that Saab is in great shape now? Yes, I believe great things are coming from Saab/Spyker. LONG LIVE SAAB!

  • The sedan doesn't have central headrests?? Well, it's a nice car anyway. Very beautiful.

  • Saab! Very individual and sporty.. I love it!

  • and by the way, i am aware of the american car history and the fact that alot of inventions and inovation has their origin in the US, but its along way from inventing and perfecting

  • Everyone who has a slite interest in cars & motors, knows only to buy american if they like to drive big, slow, stoneage like cars, some US cars is sold without abs and powersteering LOL.really, its true, obviously there are some exceptions. there are alot of driveable classics and some new ones. i read alot of car magz and every customer satisfaction poll shows that most eureopean/japanese cars scores highest everytime, actually US cars is ranked amongst manufacturers like hyundai,Fiat,Citroen

  • Volvo And Saab the best cars ever Swedish Stil

  • @crazyfabio1 they are the only swedish cars!

  • @Memphis35 When it comes to personal vehicles, yes. We also have Koenigsegg whom make supercars, and then we have trucks made by Volvo (Volvo Lastvagnar is a seperate company to Volvo Personbiler), and Scania.

  • Have a 9-3 ! AWD clear tail lights 5 door wagon

  • Do I love saab! Its true Gm really did mess up saab they were so awsome, and now that spyker has bought it I expect alot more this will probably be my first car.

  • @artix640 it will be better, cuz saad was amazing and close to the german cars but when GM bought it, instead of upgrading they made it worse but spyker who builds that weirdo supercar use audi engines so it will be pretty much close, the upcoming generation on the 9-3 will be good, but the next will be brilliant in everyway,

  • Saab's are great. I love them!

  • That late 90's 9-3 series is awsome. This series is totally lacking that charming Europian charme. Saab's car have a friendly appeal. This model has angry looking eyes.

  • @Roelandvinken Actually, no. Saab have a heavy sports lineage, with their old V4 and Turbo rally cars and their sporty Sonetts. .

To top it all off, the R&D of the Cadillac BLS officially happened with Saab money.

  • I have over 20 years of mechnic experience on Saabs, BMW & Porsches...I own a 2007 Annerversary Edition and it is a well made car...GM parts are not all bad (yes their plastics are a little thin) but the brakes, suspension etc are well made and simple...I also own a 2007 BMW 3 series and it has been a complete disappointment, it has 30K miles on it and has cooling problems, tires are terrible, exterior trim is junk, has electrical problems. BMW out of warranty would leave you broke !

  • @cking1975 Please don't compare a BMW which is designed and built in Germany to a crappy GM which is built in Mexico or Canada. GM isn't even American. I think Toyota builds more of their total models than GM does in the US (by percentage).

  • I am a Saab 9-3 owner and this design is absolutely outdated, they use shitty material for the interior (expect the seats), no textures, entertainment system is typical GM shit. Rattling here and there, very bad quality. But still, I love Saab, the brand..... Hopefully Spyker can turn the brand around.

  • @Sayakawill the interior of saab i will admit is a bit to bland and outdated they havent changed it since 06 much. the materials are half good half bad the cupholders are extremly shitty becasue they break but. somthing about driving my saab makes me connected to it iv driven audi a4's and bmw plentyfull nothing fuels my drive like the saab. i hope spyker brings this brand back to its glory.

  • However I am pleased with the pricing. Under 30k is an impressive starting point but, for looks I'd buy a BMW, Lincoln MKS, Acura, Infiniti, Lexus, C class, or even a Hyundai Genisis 4.6. They all look better and have a lot more power. Other than pricing, GM has distroyed Saab. The crown is now off.

  • People! It has been anounced last night at whatever time it was Saab was sold to Spyker! So 1/29/10 is the date that Saab freed itself from the stupid people at GM! Saab will be great again! Buy The new 9-3 that will come out soon or the new 9-5!

  • GM really screwed Saab up over the past 20 years! The 93 Wagon is UGLY!!!

  • This guy is one of the worst voice-over actors I've ever listened to. I couldn't make it past 1:13.

  • I absolutly love my 9-7x and i am so sad saab went out of busness im never getting rid of mine love the 9-3s too drove one for 4 years!

  • GO spyker. Saab lives.

  • gm did not accept spykers offer

no more saabs...lets hope the ones we have now last til theres no more fuel in the earth. Then we can turn them into spaceships that run on rusty gm products.

    case closed.

  • @FrencunoZeTroll they did today.

  • this car looks cool

JIZZ UP MY ASS PLEASE NOW I MEAN NOW

  • I hope Spyker get's Saab.

  • I can´t take the suspense anymore. Hope Spyker gets it and gives it a new life.

  • Same here, I'm drivin' mine till she can't drive anymore, long live Saab!

  • I love my Saab

  • The GM and Saab conversatians are not done yet......Saab might yet escape from GM and fing a new life as a sister company to Spyker..............let's hope for the best...if GM kills this brand, then shame on them for killing many thousands of jobs and killing the dreams of austo enthusiasts.

  • GM basically gave away subaru, didn't know what to do with Lotus, destroyed isuzu and now saab is next..? shame on you GM!!!

  • @914SECHS Lol GM never has subaru, Izuzu sucked, Saab is probably the worst brand I can think of, for this reason, they have nothing they do good, they arent the sportiest, they arent the fastest, they arent the most luxurious, they damn sure arent the most reliable. Saab has been doomed for over a 15 years. I am surprised they are here still. The 9-3 is essentially a turbo chevy, like the Cobalt SS...its sad. Except that the Cobalt SS will kick a Saabs ass for a lot less cash.

  • @914SECHS Wow...you are way off. If GM hadn't stepped in, SAAB would have gone under. Isuzu had shitty cars before GM. It only held Lotus and the Lotus Carlton came out of that venture which is still one of the best 4 door sports cars ever made. And in regards to Subaru, GM only held a lot of stock..its not like they came in and started making changes. It was an investment which they sold to Toyota who has already begun to affect its business.

  • @2003SCT are you fucking shitting me isuzu had shitty vehicles WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU ON?

  • @FantomLightning Passenger car-wise, Isuzu made a whole bunch of shit or at least unforgettable stuff nobody misses. Ooh baby, I sure wish I had a garage full of Isuzus. Maybe a Pup, a Stylus, and an Impulse. Other automakers were too lazy to design their own so everyone monkey-fucked off the Trooper for years and years..whoopty doo. They should have stuck with commercial trucks only.

  • @914SECHS god i miss isuzu at least we have my mothers isuzu axiom

  • @914SECHS oh yea.... cnt 4 get about dae woo + oldsmobile

  • Comment removed

  • R.I.P Saab.

  • how can you close such beautiful car....what the f*** is goind on in this world...

  • FTF,

    Is all about profit.

  • Saab forever

    GM has to be closed

  • RIP SAAB. Forever in my heart.

  • GMC is the next !

  • FUCK GM, LONG LIVE SAAB!

  • @DJFG85 Fuck Saab, Camaros eat Saabs.

  • @Apoth3cary I don't know if you are being sarcastic. I used to be a GM loyalist until I owned a few and saw what GARBAGE they are. The new LaCrosse? DESIGNED IN CHINA, BUILT IN CANADA! Nothing American about it. GM ruined Saab. Fortunately Spyker saved Saab.

  • @DJFG85 i agree the LaCrosse is built in canada but its cheaper in US than in canada which is stupid, GM has to build cars that are good and american. has the specs of the european cars with the low price of the US

  • @hazemvirus right low price of the US cars? are you serious? American cars are among some of the most expensive cars sold today. the Asian cars a far less expensive and last longer.

  • @adamslurch71 you are right tho, american cars are rubbish and its sad, some american cars are cheaper than other manufacture countries but they aint worth it, its sad cuz they sell the cars about the same and some of them are more expensive than the asian and euro cars while they have to be cheaper cuz they are local and the others are imports. but you know where the real rib off is, canada, cars there are way too expensive and above that they have to pay tax 13%

  • @hazemvirus If you notice cars are expensive in countries that don't have their own car companies to contribute vehicles to the world market. For some reason I don't know why but its true.

  • @adamslurch71 its sad for these who live on the boarder, they are just 5-10 miles away from a country that sells cheaper stuff, not just cars tho, everything in canada is more expensive, i have noo idea why some americans go there

  • @hazemvirus b/c at one point with the exchange rate a few years ago it was cheaper to go to Canada and buy certain things, I went across the border when I lived in Michigan to buy Cigarettes b/c Canada didn't have the high taxes that the US did on them, I guess for small things it pays off but with how the world economy is now, I would even bother trying to buy anything in America they may put some new higher tax on things just to cover their own asses.

  • @DJFG85 why do u say that?

  • @DJFG85 if you think the new lacrosse is garbage you don't know shit

  • @camaroman101 Any GM vehicle is crap, has been for years, why else do you think they needed a bail out? they cant sell crap b/c it cost to damn much for something that doesn't look good handle any type of road that has corners, and is made of plastic that even a 6 year-old says is cheap( trust me my little cousin hate GM cars without even knowing what GM is)

  • @adamslurch71 if you think ALL gm vehicles are crap your just being an illogical hater who would dislike anything gm put out even if it were heralded as the best car on the planet; I on the other hand am a real enthusiast and even if i don't like a car's brand or automaker i am mature enough to admit its pros and great attributes. you my friend are ignorant and immature, and as far as your six year old cousin goes, ever hear of monkey see monkey do?

  • @camaroman101 Lets see I reread my statements and still believe that all GM cars are crap, here's why... Just like Chrysler they needed a bailout, if their vehicles were so good they would have sold keeping the company in business without me ( and everyone else in this country) having to pay for them to keep them open. I support car companies that I believe in not ones that I am forced to pay for that's why they are crap plain and simple, if you dont like that logic, to bad. thats the way it is.

  • It's nice but I don't think it's competitive enough to win peoples decision against other car brands.

  • It depends on the person

  • I have this car in red with dual exhaust; so far I really enjoy this car.

  • a good place to look for Saabs: Boston, Massachusetts. They're everywhere

  • This car looks good on outside and has good engines, but interior design, and especially materials used in interior are hard and feel cheap...and are cheap. Saabs interiors are the worst of all european cars.

  • because the interior materials are similar to american cars...hmm,maybe there is a connection somewhere, huh?

  • lol my last name is saab

  • is the 93 2.0 reliable? im thinking of buying a used 2004 model from a neighbor. it ha 130 00 kms on it. my current toyota camry (total opposite i know) has 416 thousand on it with original motor and tranny

  • Saab's are nice....but, the styling is sort of weird!

  • :)Yeah there are lots of help websites

    why???????

    because they keep breaking down:)lol

  • Guys check out my Saab Forums help website by visiting my channel.

  • I'd buy a Volvo or Saab any day over a BMW or Audi.

  • Why dont they just be honest and say that it is a vauxhall vectra, with a different badge:)for cripes sake

At least a bmw is a bmw:)

To sumup. saab drivers are no better than vauxhall vectra drivers

    They just think they are:)

  • funny you should say that. A Vauxhall Vectra is really an Opel Vectra with right- hand drive. What is a Vauxhall anyway? do they build anything original?

  • opel and vauxhall are both owned or rather were owned by GM so that may explain it, also where do you think the Saturn Astra came from haha.... though the designing is damn sexy

  • weird little cars:) for wierd little people:()

  • Says the guy who drives a Peugeot 106.

  • Best exterior of the year IMO. SOOO outstanding what they've done. The interior blows bunghole

  • Why would you say the interior is shit? Just curious...

  • gm infused, blacked out and lacking for a luxury car.

  • Ah, okay. I haven't been in a Saab since GM owned them, so I wasn't aware. Thanks for clarifying.

  • the germans engine/price relation.. who the fuck would buy a small car for example (bmw 120i sport only 170ps) for 30.000e??

you can buy the new impreza wrx 2.5 230ps(and its all JAPAN) with 27.000e

  • Saab should get their shit together and move some fresh new products, this 9-3 won't cut it to go against a 3 series or an A4, IS etc... Outdated GM interior and being overpriced doesn't help either.

  • Check out the all new 2010 Saab 9-5 Aero, it's freakin awesome and 10X this car!

  • Yeah I saw the pictures, didn't like it - except for the interior. Need to see it in person

  • Strange. Most people seem to agree it's awesome. Maybe it's a european thing?

  • Wouldnt buy an Audi, Lexus or a BMW on the principal they are overpriced and for the same money they are underpowered.

  • you sacrifice some things with each brand, but overall they're better than Saab. BMW - great driver's car, well balanced but you have to pay a premium; Audi - great interior and overall styling, premium price and low reliability; Lexus - good value, reliability and comfort, but not very fun to drive.

  • Owned by Koenigsegg now bud :)

  • awesome car..only nouveau riches fools would choose something else..

  • rich baby??

  • U stupid americans, saab is better then any american peace of shit car!

  • lol i agree with you good word there :P i have an Saab 9-5 2.3T from 1998 ;D

  • Looks sharp! :)

  • Yes, GM completely ruined quality control when they took over Saab. Trust me I know, I worked for Saab for too many years. Alot of good people left the Saab because of GM. But since Saab is now owned by Koenigsegg things will have to improve. Though we will not see any changes for a few years till everything is redesigned and restructured.

  • No way man, I drive a Saab 9-3, and I love it. I'm 16, its my first car.

  • Lol this is the same car. Cadillac BLS!

  • great car, but what lets this down is at 3mins 49....the way the plastic trim flexed when the window switch was pressed...says alot about gm quality control...shame because im a huge saab fan and its a shame to see niggles like this on the newer cars especially when they are trying to compete against audi and bmw

  • I agree my friend! The Saab 9-3, at first glance, looks really nice, but most of it is plastic, and cheap, flexible plastic at that. I hate that.

  • That's a fine car.

  • well, Saab is virtually a Norwegian brand now-

  • Saab's owner, the Koenigsegg Group is owned by norwegian investors (49%) and Christian Von Koenigsegg (51%). So I would say that Saab is still a swedish brand.

  • My mistake ! Sorry :)

  • very nice! euro!!
