  • since he points at them twice

  • well billy joel dosent really know spanish and i am fluent in spanish and i cant really make out what he is saying. something about his eyebrows mabye

  • New Jersey has Bruce Springsteen.

But Long Island has Billy Joel.

One of my favorites from "Songs in the Attic."

This song has a unique "raw beauty."

    LOVE IT.

Thanks Billy (from one Long Islander to another).

  • his best band here.

  • One of my ALL-TIME FAVORITE songs by the iconic Billy Joel :)

  • Does anyone know what he shouts at the end of the song in Spanish besides the margarita part? (excuse my ignorance, I only know a tiny bit of French and Italian, that's it.)

  • Some great guitar work in there!

  • This guy is a genius.

  • Scientists recently confirmed that the origin of awesome traces back to the birth of a certain William "BIlly" Martin Joel!

  • Just amazing singer I wish I could see him in concert

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOVE THIS SONG, and love how Billy goes crazy at the end hehehe :D

  • wow- hell-fire playing tremendous band tune-

  • "Los Angelenos! All come from somewhere." - Those words mean even more now that I live here in LA county.

  • Still making all of us Long Islanders proud.

  • @bigbadbluewolf1 He sure is =) I'm always proud to say I share my birthplace with Billy fucking Joel.

  • Listen to the range in his voice!! Effortless! What a classic TALENT!!! Thanks for posting.

  • One of the best. I was brought up on Billy and he is a legend. I do wish that his newer tunes were so heartfelt and passionate!

Miami 2017, Vienna, Easy Money, New York State of Mind, The Stranger, Big Shot, Movin' Out.

    Legend.

  • I love how much passion Billy & the boys pour into this one! I get the shivers every time I listen to it

  • Billy is the best-no question!

  • Proud Los Angeleno here!

  • @miamiviceali Not sure this song is meant to reflect on Los Angeles positively....

  • @DJAXfromUCLA I do not think "I love LA" was either yet we have embraced it as endearing...it plays at Dodgers and Lakers games...this song is endearing because despite the flaws of LA...we embrace them and this song is true! So that is positive in my eyes

  • Billy Joel is an icon!

  • Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Notice how Dead the crowd looked? What The Hell?!

  • i get goose bumps the second he sings the first note

  • i remember having a vhs of with a bunch of his videos on it when i was a kid. may it RIP. it died a slow death of over use.

  • Awesome cut. This blows "Piano Man" outta the water.

  • I love the song Los Angelenos by Billy Joel.

  • Billy in his prime, no one could touch him.

  • @xterrahawaii up til 1982, I agree.

  • THESE are the Billy Joel songs everyone should hear! Don't get me wrong--"Piano Man" is great, but this is amaaaazing!

  • wow they have been rockin' it real hard

  • heard this on the radio today - damn what a song!

  • yes, now i'm a los angeleno!!! used to be on the old east coast, now the song has a special meaning....

  • where did you find this video? there's no DVD for sale, and i never even heard of anything video recording in the show. Thanks

  • @jimppqq I think the video was added on the re-release of "Songs In The Attic" CD... Columbia remastered all of Billy's albums around 2000 and each had video clips that would play on computers

  • My favorite song from songs in the attic. Awesome

  • Billy JOEL and his band : Real dudes...

  • Jew Froin it out! LOVE BILLY JOEL!

  • Hey walls09, I was at Toads that night too. Long time, sweet memories.

  • woah that sounded legit when he spoke espanol. does he know the language?

  • @jessicat96 not that i know of, but i wouldn't be surprised. his french is quite convincing in the song C'etait Toi as well. look that up. Not bad for someone who was half a credit short of a high school diploma!

  • @muzikjunkie14 I read somewhere that he always disliked that song, because he once played it in France, and no one understood a word. Apparently, they all thought he was speaking polish.. :P

  • this song on the album was recoreded at Toad's Place in New Haven, CT....a great place small club atmosphere great venue would like to see him there once more......

  • Oh the days when vocals didn't need correcting. I miss those days.

  • This was probably my favorite Joel album. My first car had a tape player and this was my first tape, along with slowhand, and three dog night.

  • I love how dopey his stage behavior

  • when he speaks spanish he sounds like ricky ricardo haha

  • this, right here, is absolutely Billy in his prime. and this was his best band lineup too. i was really stunned when he toured a couple years ago and Liberty Devitto was not with him. he was the heart of the band and the best drummer in rock and roll.

  • nobody better. tight song.

  • Awesome! We saw him in concert in AZ years ago. He was good!

  • excellent stuff

  • Billy in his Prime.

  • live versions on 'songs in the attic' blow away their original studio versions.

  • Piano riff at times sounds like America's "Woman Tonight" from their 1975 Heart album.

  • yeah it does. Los Angelenos for the record, was on billy joel's 1974 album, Streetlife Serenade. this live version here on youtube was of course shot several years later......

  • Agreed, except for "Captain Jack". I like the subtle way he sings the biting lyrics in the original studio version. It makes them that much more poignant.

  • such a good song wieh i had the album....happy late birthday billy!!!!

  • I have it! Played the crap out of it :D Great album, great artist...

  • Knowing all the man's work, i think that this video is one of the best examples of joel's greatness for any doubters

  • there are no doubters if so tell me where they live cuz i'd like a word with them LOL. He's influenced me to do the same thing i've only posted 1 vid at the moment but i think you'd be able to here the affect he's had on me.

  • looks a bit like paul mccartney, but a tad more talented in my not so humble opinion

  • AGREED!! WOOPS : ) . He's had such a massive influence on me witch you"ll be able to tell if you check out my stuff i'll be adding more tracks shortly.

  • less bickering, more enjoying the hair

  • Songs in the attic were most likely recorded in the late 70's-77-78 i still own the album..

  • they were recorded in june and july of 1980. check your album. it's there.

  • Check your info...Maybe recorded in the early 80's..However,if you were "around" and lived then you might notice this song was actually "WRITTEN" in the 70's....

  • These songs were recorded in 1980

  • what year was this concert???

  • july 1980. the 'songs in the attic' songs were recorded in various places june and july 1980.

  • tell me ur sizw i knit u a swtr

  • Hey is there a dvd available of this whole concert? I like it a lot!!!! :D

  • I have the DVD "Billy Joel: Essential Video Collection" and it features all his music videos. HIGHLY recommended

This exact video is on it. It's only $7 new on amazon.

  • are this much of a dickhead in real life?

  • screw u u fuckin jerk.

  • Listen sloot, Billy Joel is good shit. I never said anything opposing that. I wouldn't be listening to this song if I didn't think so. He just looks a lot like Michael Keaton in Batman.....you stupid spic tool retard

  • further more sukkkkkkkkkkk it u fkn mexican wheres ur fkn green card?

  • What the fuck are u talking about ?? Who said I was mexican, dumb fuck. My point is Billy Joel is a great talent. I have no idea what your saying. Maybe quit doing crystal meth

  • coq smokin fgt

  • Arguably the greatest artist ever.

  • I'm still waiting to hear the argument

  • i wouldn't dare argue such a true statement...

    lol

  • I'll let the music control the argument! Just listen!

  • How the hell can one man be so fucking cool?

  • @ciaobellakate I was thinking the same damn thing!!

  • @ciaobellakate cause hes fucking billy joel man

  • The live version is far superior to the recording. It shows here.

  • peafu is right,

    love this song!

  • i know i am right

  • i FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!

  • Songs In The Attic is simply one of Joel's best albums. It needs to be dusted off (pardon the terrible pun...)

  • LRG i so disagree with you my 17yr old daughter has great musical venues she hangs out at in St. Aug. or palm coast and these younger guys are very talented..Some of thier mentors originated from the 70's and yes i agree with gnarfyy as most will ..you shouldn't dii your "entire" generation..my thoughts are you are not who you really say you are

  • yah i think so

lol just kidding yeah i can

in memory of doug stegmeyer... committed suicide in 1995

  • which one is doug stegmeyer? plz REPLY

  • The bass player....hope you can recognize a bass????;-)

  • He's the chunky fellow to Billy Joel's left with the long blonde hair, dark shirt, and yellowish or white tie playing the bass guitar.

  • Billy Joel kicked so much major ass in the day.

  • Lol, never thought I'd hear Billy Joel screaming in Spanish at the end of this..

  • LRGDuran, I'm 13 and LOVE Billy Joel, but I don't go around dissing my ENTIRE generation. I think that's just insane. Not to mention, the lack of grammar and spelling you used just made you look as dumb as the rest of the generation you seem to "hate" so much. Besides, there are plenty of good singers and song writers out there right now. You can't be prejudice just because it's new or anything like that. True, a large amount of the music out now does bomb, but you just gotta open your ears.

  • billy joel ceases to amaze me i only 16 i think billy joel is the best preformer of the last century a musical genious i dont think their will ever be another one like billy joel especialy in my motherfucking generation a funking stupid with no education shitheads with not talent man i hate my generation we are the worst generation fat deaf thanks to the ipods and spending our days fucking as men getting fades and pluking our eyebrowns and buy those godawful tight girl jeans and lisening to crap

  • yes, your generation does stink

  • Really, he ceases to amaze you? So that means your amazement with him has come to an end?

I gotta admit this is a killer performance (as most of his are) but really, there are so many great singer/songwriter/ musicians today. J

ust because you see people in the streets as well as on tv listening to crap doesn't mean you can't have billy joel (or any other great artist) on an ipod, seriously dude, calm down!

  • great forgotten record is Streetlife Serenade

  • Doesn't it just give you a high feeling of the raw, timeless power and passion of L.A.

  • GREAT SONG!!! reminds me of a day at the beach!!! XD

  • Billy Joel had a video libray set that was on VHS for sale back in the late 8o's. Got em all, use to have parties and I would just play his videos. This one is classic, more of this .......

  • I think it's the best version of Los Angelenos, eventhough I'm pretty sure it's not the SITA version

  • It's verysimilar to that one, maybe it's edited on the album because he doesn't say all that spanish gibberish near the end. I think it might be a little cleaner on the CD too (SITA not Streetlife). If it's just an edited version or a totally different one, either way great vid. I still think that Rhodes tone on the live album is THE coolest electric piano sound I've ever heard. He had such an amazing backup band then, just like Bowie and Elton John in the 70s

  • Speaking as one intimately familiar with the SITA version, there are numerous, easily identifiable differences between the Attic version and this one. Still so much better than the studio version. Love his tie, too!

  • Bless u......:) Same album as captin Jack and Roberta~~~~

  • Captain Jack was on the "Piano Man" album

Those two were on Streetlife Serenader

  • BEST SONG EVER WRITTEN!!!!!!!! #1

  • Holy Krap! I can't believe it! Thanks a million times for putting this on! LOVE THIS SONG! Pure Passion

  • Songs In The Attic is a masterpiece that contains some of Billy's finest work. If you don't have a copy, buy the CD or download it (legally). You'll be glad you did.

  • no doubt, i bought it when i was like 12 (like 1992), still one of my favorites

  • Must have missed your reply. I bought the album in 1986 when I was a teenager in Japan so the songs always bring back memories of Tokyo. I was 25 in 1992 ;-)

  • The quality of this is fantastic. I love you.

  • OMG, where did you get this S/I/T/A stuff?

  • i love this song isn`t he great?

  • BEST SONG EVER WRITTEN!!!!!!!! #1
