  • i had to ck it twice....yes you can see Ira Hayes up in the rigt hand corner of this vid at the end. you can see the eye brough the eye, the hair line. he's looking over the flag. I can see it.

  • When people want to fight against each other in the USA I think of this man, and so many like him who represent the true spirit of our country. Each life even if not sacrificed for our freedom has been indeed sacrificed in ways you will never understand.

You owe a debt you are unaware of. Trust me...

  • Cousin Ira, you're on my family tree and will be remembered proudly.

  • Going to name my first son after him.

  • Awesome. thank you jw58 i grew up on the jonny C version. Yours made me cry too.

  • R.I.P. Ira Hayes.I'm from the Ellis family Gila River Pima & Southern Cheyenne!!

  • long live ira hayes!!!! i love your country from cainho (brazil)

  • Lest not forget that CMH winner Sgt John Basilone died there too. God bless all who fought and died there. Semper Fi Marines...

  • He was a United States Marine, God Damn it!!!!!!!!!!!

    Quit calling him Army.

Even a DVD I have of the Navajo code talkers stated he was Army.

    What an insult.

  • @yachtabaco Ira Hayes was not eligible for the draft, because he was not a US citizen. But he volunteered, and became a Marine.

  • monumental song to a monumental man ,RIP . IRA and JOHNNY.

  • Who actually wrote this song? I only recall Johnny Cash doing/singing it many years ago...

  • Peter La Farge wrote it, and i guess that Johnny Cash made it famous worlwide.

i sung this version of Ira Hayes. The song describes ira's live in 3 minutes, his background, his army days, and the total destruction of someone who couldn't cope with others attention. i think it is a tribute to one of the many soldiers who fought not only in wars but with themselfs too. thanks for asking. jw58

  • @jw58 hes a marine not army

  • @mrusmc123452 i.m sorry. marine of course. thanks

  • @jw58 you are both wrong he is a Marine, that shits capitalized

  • @jw58 He was Marine, not a soldier!

  • That was a fantastic version, you are very talented.

  • Why am I crying? I was tough once. Real tough. But now . . but now, I'm an old man. Why am I crying?

  • Why am I crying?

  • Semper Fi brother RIP

  • a great american

  • Semper Fi Ira.

  • you know that he is not the only native who raised the flag, there was really 2 raising of the flag one they did not take a pic of because they did not have a camrea but in the second one they did and they didnt get the orginally flag raisers but native pride and stand we r teh first nations.

  • @zhoni2004 I never Knew taht TYVM

  • Rest in peace, Ira. I know you're in heaven because you've already been to Hell.

  • native pride all day ...ira hays is the fucking man

  • respect for ira hayes he was something more than a hero like all the soliders from all the countrys that died for the life and freedom we have today god bless them all./irishand proud of it.

  • @ErnstBecker - Thanks for the correction.

  • crap

  • James Connolly has nothing to do with Ira Hayes. This video is a tribute amd memorial to Marine hero Ira Hayes. Stop posting bullshit that has no relation to Ira Hayes and the Marine heros that fought on Iwo Jima.

  • @JimmyFormerMarine: You will have to read my previous comments. in re McCourt. It is History and more. Ira Hayes was a Tohono of the Dessert and not a Navajo.

  • WTF is Connolly? What does he have to do with The Ballad of Ira Hayes?

  • James Connolly was an Irishman that was wounded on the attack of the post office on Easter Sunday, 1916, Dublin, Ireland. He was wounded that day while fighting with the British Army. He was later tied to a chair and shot graveyard dead in the Kilmanham Jail. He was a patriot, and a rebel, that gave his life,as did others, for the birth of the Irish Republic. My response was directed a previous comment.

  • guys this song is about Ira Hayes not Connolly

  • Wow, very powerful song. Thank you for the posting. RIP brother Hayes Semper Fidelis

  • The Irish were sent by the British to fight their Indian wars!

  • There was never conscription in Ireland, those who joined the British Army did so voluntarily. So to say they were sent is an understatement - they joined so went where they were sent and were proud to do so - same as today. But they did not fight on their own, regiments made up of their fellow countrymen, the Scots, Welsh & English were all "sent".

  • explain?

  • i grew up listening to this song as my father was a johnny cash fan and even as a child, Ira's bravery made an impression on me. Even as a kid the absolute tragic waste of this man struck me. He was a hero for the both the indians and the ungrateful americans.

  • being quit is not part of the pima way!!!

it just who he was and the word pima doent mean gila river in pima

  • he was a pima indian which pima means of the gila river and he would barely speak but that was a tradition of his tribe.

  • He was a Tohono of the River, not to be confused with Tohono O'Dham, people of the dessert.

  • We are all ugual.....NO RACISM!!!!!

  • Rip Ira Hayes,American proud and brave and human!!!!!!!!!Iwish the story could of ended differently, but you earned your keep.

  • This was my Daddy's favorite song. Daddy was Cheorkee, and served as an MP in the Army in Japan, and I think he could identify with Ira Hayes.

  • semper fi!!!

  • RIP brother...everyone knows you have more than earned it.

    Semper FI

  • listen up, enough of the fighting over racist shit. Thats what got everything going to begin with. Try to be color blind people.Nobody really owns the earth. When the earth spews us from its mouth because we make it sick, then maybe people will understand. god bless

  • j cash not this douche

  • Yah well i am related to crazy horse. he Is in my lakota famliy.

  • im related to him..

  • PROOV IT

  • hes my grandmas cousin..

  • That's awesome. Poor guy.

  • @IamIcetalon Really? how?

  • TRY TO WALK IN HIS SHOES SOMETIME

  • Ira Hayes fought and died for the forked tounges. R.I.P. Ira Hayes and many thanks.

  • I just wanted to say thanks for all the comments it is a wonderful song and your right The indian didnt get a chance

I felt I needed to stop and comment as IRA is my cousin and I thank you all for respecting what he has done for us all

  • I agree with you. But you missed the main point of my argument which is the nature of mankind is evil and if you cannot defend yourself then you will be victimized. The Spanish and Portugese conquered Indians in US, Brasil, Mexico. Spain also conquered filipinos, Guam. Chinesse invaded the Middle East and that is why you have so many muslims in Malaysia and even a fair number in China. There once were a lot of muslims in China but Communist party changed that.

  • Not so, human nature is essentially good, it is when we go against our nature we go bad. Nothing bad is created by God. When He created mankind He declared that the result was "good".

Just look around you, look at history look at the selfless acts of those who helped others just by instinct, on the spur of the moment, without looking to see what was right or wrong, Yes others done evil in the same way but because they had become depraved and had trained their nature to become evil

  • You can tell that to the over 2,400 dead American soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines that are buried in the Puch Bowl, U.S. National Cemetery that were killed on December 7, 1941.

  • Just a drop in the bucket compared to those murdered by Americans. At least they were guilty of warfare. Think about the 200,000 innocent men, women & children murdered in Hiroshima, 100,000 more in Nagasaki. Plus twice that number who died a lingering, agonising death from radiation in the following 5 years. Think about the 90 million Indians murdered by the New Americans, 5 times the population of Europe at that time.

I have no sympathy for those who died while willing to kill others.

  • Do whom do you speak? Us or them? I nevr hestitated when the time came to fire. It was another place and time. I wouldn't be writing this had I hesitated. The Japs didn't hestitate on December 7, 1941; it was WAR from that day untill they accepted an unconditional surrender. Had teh USA invaded Japn, our KIA and WIA would have been far more than can be imagined. Radiation, too bad it had to happen that way; however, hsitory well records Nanking, China. I'm part Native, so cut the crap.

  • Remember the Rape of Nanking? How about the Batan Death March? The Phiipppines, Malasiya, Boreno, the Dutch East Indies, Guam -- just to name a few. The Japs got everything they deserved and then some. American monthly KIA in both the Pacific and European Theathers -- 12,000.

  • and we call sports players hero's. not me, i've told this story to my kids and many more stories about true american heros.

  • i dont think there heros either, what have they done to be so special hit, trough kick a ball. whoopie

  • Your a wonderful artist and tune smith. Like your style and of course that voice.

  • Goed gedaan!

    Groet, Erik

  • I am proud to be from Oklahoma and Am. Indian. When push comes to shove you can do a lot worse than having an Am. Indian soldier at your side and PER CAPITA no other group has provided the US with as many. Usually as volunteers, thank you very much. My father's uncle fought in WWII, came back home to resume his life and when the Korean War broke out he went and re-enlisted. Way to go, Uncle Huck!

    rb

  • Did you know 22 American Indians earned the medal of honor. One of my favorite of those 22 was Col. (Ret) Van T. Barfoot. He held the rank of Tech. Sgt. when he took on 2 German Machine Gun Nests, A Tank from 75 yards, and an Artillery piece. I forgot to mention, he was regular Infantry.

  • indian boy fighting a white mans war half way around the world. Ultimetly the war killed him not physically, but psycologically. My grandpa says you know how he died? drowned to death in his own puke. I think its funny that lots of settler look down on native americans. I got lots of friends fighting side by side maybe by some of your sons or daughters.

  • You are too correct! I is so incredibly sad how the 'whites' treated and in some respect still treat the indians. If we had followed your culture the earth would be in so much better shape.

  • You are so wrong blaming the "white man" for all the Indians problems. It is the fact that people who cannot defend themselves are victimized by people who are more powerful. In WW2 Germany enslaved white people of Holland, Poland, Russia, Belgium and many other nnations as slave workers for the war effort. Learn to protect yourself against evil is my opinion of this song. I am glad that Johnny Cash sang this song. Johnny Cash is a great man who tells the TRUTH. Ira Hayes was unfairly treated,

  • I am afraid that you are missing the point, and if you would have spoken to J Cash you would realize this. He did believe that in general the 'white' government DID destroy the Native Americans. Of course not ALL 'white people' committed these sins against them. However between out right stealing the land and water rights, they also committed genocide against them. There are tribes that are now extinct because of this. ALL of anyone's problems never come from one source, you are right about that.

  • abfirefighterchick:

The Indians were fighting each other way before the Europeans arrived... They had slaves from other tribes, kidnapped Mexican women for use of sex slaves etc... no race is innocent.

  • I never claimed that any person or 'race' is innocent. There were some tribes and individuals that did have slaves or sell them. The same way that some Africans sold their own kinsmen to slavery. For the most part it was white propaganda that spread rumors of Indians kidnapping and stealing women. In reality not all of them did those things. In either case, none of them were intentfully trying to commit genocide, the way that white settlers did.

  • Ernst Becker is correct. The Brits thought it would cost less money to allow 1,000,000 people in Ireland to starve than to feed them. Aztecs had human sacrifices of virgins. Whites gave Indians small pox infected blankets. 6million jews were killed by Germans in WW2. The portugese burned an Indian at the stake in Brasil for Treason against Portugal. Bottom line is there is a lot of evil in the world.

  • Well said.

  • No group had the type of slavery perpetrated by the whites. Most slaves had a time limit before the whites came. Or they eventually became a part of the tribe or clan. The scale of work and torture were never anywhere near what the whites brought to us.

  • aicram62:

You are so full of BS! You are just a bitter racist asshole!

  • Wrong ! Visit Ireland for over 1,000 years of slavery by the British Crown. The Irish were hung for whistling a tune of rebellion, starved to death to over 1.5 million. Least we forget over another 1,000,000 died of crowd diseases aboard coffin ships from Liverpool to New York and Nova Scotia. They were murdered, beaten, bullied, starved, and harried out of Ireland. They weren't the only nationalities that lived a living hell in their countries of origin. America wasn't easy for them.

  • Where did you hear these myths? I am 70 years old, I was born, bred and educated in Ireland and I still live there and can assure you that there is not a grain of truth in what you say. I would suggest you read a reliable history of the country and stop listening to Republican terrorist propaganda.

  • Posted in front of bars, "No Dog or Irish". Myth? No, it was fact. This is what Irish put up with when they arrived in America. They cut their teeth at Antietam, the Irsih Brigarde reduced by 2/3 from casualities sustained at the "Bloody Lane". This was aprt n' patrial of the Irish History in America. You never heard of the "Coffin Ships?" A song reflects the passage, "and the shraks were makin' their marks". Marks? The dead were given a funeral at sea. Crowded, cramped = diease and death.

  • 1. Different subject True about the signs but why? We irish are known to be quarrelsome, untrustworthy and drunkards & it is still true, to our shame.

The Irish brigade were there to kill others so small wonder they were killed!

Yes, I have heard of coffin ships. I think the difference between us is that I have heard the truth about them while you have believed the myths of anti-British propaganda spread by the Church in Ireland and the various terrorist groups down through the ages-

  • 2. Coffin ships was the name given to any ship that had been over-insured and worth more sunk than afloat They had little to do with Ireland as most of the passengers were English & Scottish with just a small minority of Irish. A lot of the Irish were relatively rich Presbyterians from Northern Ireland (Ulster).

US immigration files show that 651,931 arrived there on 2,743 voyages during the years of the famine, mostly English & Scottish with a few Welsh & Irish. 5000 died at sea. Go to #3-

  • 3. 5000 died at sea, equals on average less than 2 per voyage most immigrants arrived safely.

Many Irish were evicted by landlords, who were mostly Irish & including the Church

Some, who could afford to, opted to immigrate. Other landlords, mainly English & Scots, paid to send families overseas if they choose to go, landlords in Scotland did the same. The Church of Ireland paid to send immigrants to the mainland & overseas. British government subsidised fares to make it easier to go.

  • True. The only thing heard in the Highlands of Scotland for years was the howling of the wolves. Immigration to date has been the scurge of Ireland.

  • What of the poor houses in Ireland during the gReta Famine? Didn't the hopelees, landless, and penniless stay for about one month, by the hand of charity, before the were tossed out into the cold wet Irish weather?

  • Perhaps you ships. It was third class passage for the Irish. Crowd diseases ran amuck amongst passengers. Over 1.000,000 Irsih died in the crossings. One fefll over board at age 12 years and was rescued. His name was "fighting Tom Sewney" well known for his courage during the Civil War.

  • The TOTAL number who immigrated from Ireland was just over that number,1.4 million. Of those 750,000 went to the mainland, the rest to USA and commonwealth countries- Canada etc.

US immigration files show that a TOTAL of 651,931 immigrants arrived there on 2,743 voyages during the years of the famine, mostly English & Scots plus a few Welsh & Irish. 5000 died at sea, that equals on average less than 2 per voyage.

  • That also doesnt state which were Protestant or Catholic. Prior to the famine most were Ulster Scots protestant.

Theres very few of my family left in the British Isles most are in the USA. My family name is rare in the UK & Ireland but common in the USA

  • Don't forget to say "all of us" as well and me. The Brits, have been notoriously known for their terror tactics. Wasn't James Connoly, previously wounded on Easter Sunday 1916, tied to a chair, and executed? Myth spread by the The Church in Ireland? Remember there is no compromise in religion, faith is embraced by the followers, whatever their beliefs. Stand firm with your religion as I. Perhaps the Islamic crescent moon flying over the Bower would be your cup of tea?

  • All nations used & still use terror tactics as a "legitimate" part of warfare. But the British in Ireland did kill innocent men, women & children just because they were Irish, as the Irish did to British citizens - and are still doing today.

Connolly was a murderer & traitor.

I don't really care which flag flies where, I am an a-political pacifist who believes in international freedom with no borders and no travel or work restrictions - a World Citizen advocating a one-world Government.

  • Yes, that group of spectators murdered at that soccer match. Wasn't it 60 (+)? Pacifists are the first to be executed by occupying forces; i.e., Malaysia, the Philippines, China, India, etc. minus Northern Ireland, as per your regard of James Connolly, the rest of Ireland are all traitors? Amazing ........

  • Yes it is a fact that it takes more guts to be a pacifist - to turn the other cheek- than it does to fight.

Not Ireland just Connolly & his ilk. Not JUST my view of Connolly - hard historical fact. History shows that he and his compatriots where traitors to Monarch & country, committing & encouraging murder & mayhem and a lot more besides. It was a pity that they learned too late that terrorism & force would only get them to an early grave. Recently Sinn Fien learned that & surrendered.

  • Then I'm a traitor too and so is every American. My GGGGGG Grandfather wasa volunteer in the Cumberland Volunteers. His son accompanied him as a drummer boy, age 11 years. They and the rest of the American patriots were "traitors"? Not much.

  • Part 1. What has that to do with Connolly? New subject! You don't think Washington & his supporters were traitors? How can you deny the history books? Washington & his rebels fought against their liege lord in any language such an act is treachery. That rebellion was started by malcontents driven out of the northern part of Ireland. Among the more notorious were: Charles Thompson Secretary of the American Continental Congress, William Whipple, Robert Paine, Thomas McKean, Thomas Nelson,

  • Part 2. Matthew Thornton, George Taylor, Edward Rutledge, John Hancock President of the Continental Congress, John Dunlap who printed the first copies of the Declaration, John Nixon who delivered the first public reading of it, & William Gault forefather of George W Bush. 40% of Washingtons army were aggrieved Ulstermen. Traitors to Ireland & their nation & its King. Traitors to the majority of colonists who wanted to live in peace. Within 6 years American were paying higher taxes than the UK

  • Part 3. Well I have had my say & made my points. Stick with legitimate history and ignore the myths spread by the Irish Church & anti-British propagandists. By the way, the descendants of traitors, terrorists etc. are not necessarily what their forefathers were, even yourself, and do not bear their guilt.

I now withdraw from the field of verbal battle with full honour & dignity.

  • @Daddymccourt :

The Irsih Church -- Catholic or Protestant. There weren't any Prods in Ireland until Billy crossed the River.

  • Honror and difnity is it? Ah yes, just like Cornwalis at Yorktown. He too surrendered his sword. That's History.

  • 2) The signers of the U.S. Constitution were hounded, their property confiscated, and murdered by the British Government. Whomever came to the cause and participated in the American Revolution was welcomed. Traitors to their King? What do you expect from those that had had enough of Crown Rule. "Don't Tread On Me" wasn't a catch phrase before and during the American Revolution. The majority of the colonists had had enough of the British GOV'T, its taxes, and abuse.

  • @Daddymccourt :

Traitors? Certainly not to Colonial Patriots.

  • Beware of the tyranny of the written word .

  • No, George Washington and the signers of the U.S. Constitution were then, today, and forever,"patriots". I wouldn't call places like Cowpens, Saratoga and New York "treachery". Those boys were a few volunteers from many European countries. There werre countless numbers:i.e., Baron Ferderic Von Stubben, Kazimierz Pulaski, Peieer L'Enfant, Pierre Colomb, Marquis La Fayette, just to name a few. Of Historicila note, any country born in revolution lives in constant threat of revolution.

  • Again James Connoly was a hero. The British feared hom si much that they ried him to a chair, his previous wounds ill dressed, and executed him graveyard dead -- Crown justice.

  • I rise to your bait one last time! A hero? Certainly not to the majority of us in Ireland. Connolly died because he was convicted of murder, causing the death of Irish citizens through rebellion and for treason against his king and country. He was tied in a chair because that was the way people faced a firing squad in both UK & USA. Besides that, he had been shot in the foot at the GPO standoff and could not stand.. He was a Scot born & bred in Edinburgh. It was ironic that the volunteers who

  • Part 2. excecuted him for murder and treason were also Scots from the Scots guards.

In January 1916 he suggested to the so called Irish Republican Brotherhood that seeing the UK was busy fighting elsewhere this would be a good time to start a rebellion. This they did but unfortunately for him the true Irish patriots refused to rebel, they remained loyal to the crown. Connolly was left with a small gang of thugs (200) to help him fight. Needless to say (go to part 3)

  • they were defeated within a matter of hours by soldiers who were mostly their own fellow Irishmen.

The majority of Irismen have never supported terrorists such as United Irishmen, Connollys "Brotherhood", the IRA. and never will. Such groups have never achieved anything except to kill & maim their fellow Irish and bring punishment, death & sufferring for themselves. McGuiness & Adams & thier thugs realised this so surrendered and now share rule with the Queen & her government in Ulster.

  • @Daddymccourt:

If what you say is true, why is there a Republic of Ireland today?

  • No pun intended, are you a fisherman? I am and have been so since I was young. The Great Atlantic Ocean and only five years of agwe seperate History. I know Connolly's history and pedigree. Please continue the debate. It is good talk.

    Best Regards,

    Ernst Becker

  • Rebellion against King and Country? The United States of America did the same during the American Revolution. The same was done in India, China, Scotland and Soth Africa.

  • Question? Who and where is the majority in th Republic of Ireland? It is in the North?

  • @Daddymccourt

The nom,"rebel" is grafted onto anyone that fought Crwon rule. This included my GGGGGG Grandfather. He was a "rebel" and soldier in 1780 while fighting the Redcoats with the Cumberland Volunteers. Without him and thousands of others. as Ira Hayes, America wouldn't be America.

  • fuck you

  • What happens when you run out of cheeks?

  • Thsoe Irish that stood in front of "The Bloody Lane" were mostly recently arrived -- fresh off the boat. Recruiters were very active in New York Harbor. Sign here Paddy and it was off to fight for Lincoln. The Irish Bridage were armed with flintlock smooth bore muskets -- maximum effective range was 70 yds. They made up for it with "buck n' ball".The Catholic Chuch didn't need to spread hate and discontent, the Brits did it for and to themselves.

  • What are you going to tell me about terrorism? I've seen it close up and personnel in the Republic That Once Was Vietnam. Xin loi, no cong bet, sorry I'll never understand.

  • If my Grandfather was alive -- you'd have a splendid argument. Ever heard of the NINA Laws? Througout America, "Help Wanted -- Irish need not apply"

  • J Cash said the TRUTH in the opening words of this song. A brave young Indian that you should remember well. Who did volunteer to fight for a land ruled by whites who screwed Blacks, Asians, Indians and Each Other. So the point is that racism and abuse is wrong. As well as bad treatment of heroes is how I interpret the song. It is a great song and Ira Hayes definitely is a hero.

  • Couldn't agree more!

  • What a load of bullshit.

  • Well history shows the "white man" stealing from the "white man too". History also shows the blacks, browns, asians, muslims, stealing from and enslaving other people. So the moral of my story is just get over it and go earn some cash so you can have fun before you die.

  • OR people with evil intent in their hearts and minds, cause great destruction on other peoples until they ban together to fight back.

  • Over 6,000 Marines and Navy personnel died on Iwo Jima. The Japanese didn't give a fiddler's fart if a Marine was white, native American or whatever. They just wanted them graveyard dead. General Kurubiashi gave his final order, "your fighting hole is your tomb, kill 10 soldiers before you die". All the Marines and Navy personel that died on Iwo Jima are buried side by side under the black volcanic sand.

  • All the US Marines, Sailors etc. who were killed on Iwo Jima (who's bodies were found) are asleep on US soil, finally they rest in peace. Rest assured that when those brave men died, they weren't thinking about race, only the Japs who were the enemy.

  • Wrong!

A D5 Cat dug a wide trench in teh sand. All Marines and Naval persoonel KIA at Iwo were laid to rest. It wasn't until years later that they were returned to the USA for burial.

  • And the Americans acted differently? Wise up.

  • I spent 28 years in the Corps. What are your going to tell me about it? Iwo Jima, as the rest of the South Pacific and Europe, was a fight to the death. The USA averaged over 12,000 KIA througth WW II in both Teharters of Combat.

  • No different than the Japs did on December 7, 1941.

  • Americans & some of the rest of the world forget why Japan attacked USA.

    The main reasons were

    a. America sided with China in their war with Japan, started by the Chinese on July 7-7-37.

    b. USA placed an embargo on steel, oil etc on Japan to weaken them in their war with China.

    c. USA was preparing to attack Japan if they refused to surrender to China.

    d. Japan had no option but to strike first. I hasten to add that I am not excusing Japan or accusing USA all war is wrong.

  • Have you ever heard of the "Tanka Memorial?" Read it. It was Manchuria for the tin, Malasia for the rubber, the Dutch West Indies for the oil, etc. Don't forget the sinking of the U.S.S. Panag in the Yellow River, 1937. The Japs copied the Italians. Crush the U.S. Navy at Pearl Harbor and the Pacific would be theirs. Not much.

  • Yes. It changes nothing least of all history and the evils war was responsible for.

  • The American expreience was unparrelled any where else in the World; however, it was and still is dynamic unto itself. Had we of not acted quickly during tough times, the USA would have been over run by despots. I never believed in hopless lassie-faire dreams.

  • @ErnstBecker WHAT THE HALL DOES IRLAND HAVE TO DO WITH THIS SONG YOUR PROBABLY A DECENDANT FROM THE FIRST TERROEST ALL THE DAMB ENGLISH SETTLERS!!!!!!!!! OUR PEOPLE DIED SO A BUNCH OF DUMB WHITE SUITS COULD TREET THEM LIKE TRASH FUCK EVERYBODY WHO DOESNT AGREE!!!

  • @navajobaby

Read tghe previous comments in re "Ira Hayes". What the hell is "Hall"? What dod the English have to do with this song? No, you're wrong on both statements. I'm not English nor am I a terrorist. That goes for my pepole. Your people were not the Thono of The Dessert. Get smart and get educated -- you danmed fool.

  • Whomever are enemies are, wherever we fight, it makes little difference who we are. Muslim Jadhis want us all graveyard dead. Color, Nationality, and Race make little difference to a Taliban with an IED.

  • Hi Jacques, you know I love your voice,its a good one.(again).

    Keep them coming.

    Love Max

  • Doesnt it make you proud to be civilised

  • Wonderful tribute to a true forgotten hero, R.I.P.

  • I got side tracked with all the bs going on regarding this song. I want to agree that this song is a Tribute to a Forgetten Hero and it truly is a tragedy that a fine human being like Ira Hayes died young and in torment.

  • Absolutely!

  • Is this the original song - I like it.

  • yes it is

  • It a song by Peter la farge

song by Jacques van de Wal
