  • Whoa! Scary! Goosebumps! Even better than the original!

  • i like celtic thunders version better :)

  • @saddleclubgurl11 I, too, like CT, but I can't choose a favorite....

  • How could anyone not love this!! Absolutely beautiful..

  • Don't know why but this is my favorite song of their's.

  • wowwwww! - *goosebumps* Wonderful!!!

  • omg her voice is hunting when she sings i soooo love it i wish she came back to celtic woman

p.s. celtic womans new album believe will be showing on PBS in December channel 13

  • This is beautiful...

  • wow, mystical celtic magic,an instrument embodied in a voice, a gift, pure as water, enigmatic in it's source, draws you into a lull, a grace, a place where strife and troubles disappear, this is a glimpse of the divine......

  • @MrJmo001 Absolutely!

  • Comment removed

  • @AniinhaNoemi , obviously cant tell the difference from like and unlike!? could be deaf maybe? or have stevie wonderitis!??? could be dead 20 years, no matter what excuse i make up here, there isnt one!! magic

  • Wooow! Perfect!

  • Why does this only have 129,000 views?

  • Orla has the most mystic voice out of all the Celtic Woman. I was SO sad when she came to my town and I couldn't see her.... =( She's my favorite former member!

  • I'm in love.

  • Yes, By far a favorite of mine.

  • if anyone can make this song sound more haunting than it originally was, Orla can. :D

  • Can anyone explain why this is called Harry's Game...the haunting music sees so far removed from the vegas type title. Could be a gangster film for example.

  • @Bruce99100

"Harry's Game" is a hit song by the Irish group Clannad. It was released in 1982 and served as the main track from their album Magical Ring. However, the song was initially written for a Yorkshire Television production called Harry's Game, which depicted The Troubles in Northern Ireland.

  • First time I've heard that from Clannad , and I knew is unique! The song wake up my mind, is full of passion.

  • @chippewaman1975 Hiding behind a screen name ? you deluded idiot , please read what i wrote you dumbass LOL ( laugh out loud ) . I know my Heritage VERY well and yes i know what Blood courses through my veins , The Royal Family and Germans? , you say that in the manner you think i am related to them ?, i would rather Die than be associated with those PARASITES . Oh ! does that shock you ? " Not all Brits want or like the Royal Family ". Did i say PROUD ? even once?, you get a life.

  • still wank

  • I love this so much. Orla, your voice is so mystifying. Beyond mystifying.

  • As an American of Scottish/Irish stock, this song feels like "home."

  • @chippewaman1975 AAAH ! A Mongrel then ? lol " what the Heck is a Scottish / Irish American ? Dont you mean just an American? . My Grandmother was Irish ,But i am no way calling myself an Irish/ Englishman , you colonials have to identify with other races it seems , are you ashamed of what you are?. Us Brits have all manor of races in our Blood ,but we find it a little offensive to say we are part this and part that at the best of times , so i am ENGLISH i was born in England , period.

  • @colbro2009 You seem like a person that has a lot of issues to make rude comments about someone's heritage and then hide behind a screen name. Yes, I am an American and not ashamed to say so. This is a nation of immigrants. I also have some ENGLISH heritage, so there. You say you are proud to be English. Good for you. I'm also proud of my heritage and to call someone a "mongrel" is just wrong. Your own Royal family is more German than English. So does that make them "mongrels?" Get a life, man!

  • you both are wrong the celtic woman are much more talented then clannad besides orla fallons voice sounds better then some

  • @nickifrenchblue Yet, CLANNAD was the original and made this a hit. So the kudos go to THEM don't you think?

  • @ThePaganSun true but i still think orlla fallon does alot better with this song

  • @nickifrenchblue She's more melodious, but the overall feel and ambience of Clannad is better. They really set the bar high. But whatever...it's your opinion, I guess. For me, Clannad is golden.

  • Lovely girl, beautiful voice, wonderful group but not for this song, I appreciate it, but it cannot match the dark sparing notes from Clannad. This seems too PBS lite for these ears, the mystery isnt there and the token Irish pipe near the end to remind you its Irish, why not bring in a leprechaun too.....and now for the flak! Take in mind i have actually worked with the Riverdance people..ok, I am ready!

  • @tindrum LOL..."why not bring in a Leprechaun too"...funny in a smartass way...i agree with you though...Clannad was much more thoughtful than this...

  • I love this!! Her voice is beyond beautiful!

  • I love Orla the most!

  • Sounds like Donegal Irish to my ears

  • i wonder why the Irish female vocalists sound better than any other on the planet?...

  • @smbrox And Orla is like at the top of them all.

  • @smbrox I don't know but I wish my voice was a good. At my best, I didn't even sound half that good.

  • @smbrox - I think it is partly the melancholy within these Gaelic songs - much like the melancholy found in Hebrew songs-can you imagine the level of melancholy to be found in Irish Jews - oh wait, that's me...

  • I love you Orla!! ;0;

  • This song is so powerful, and beautiful the it touches the soul of my heart. Orla's voice is perfect for this kind of beautiful.

  • This song is very beautiful, mystical, and magical. It's awesome :D

  • This probably the most powerful song on the album...

  • Four people are deaf!

  • And boy, does she have the map of Donegal stamped on her face.

  • i would love to be able to speak irish gaelic... but i've heard that it is supposed to be quite difficult :)

she has such a beautiful voice !

  • They did that perfectly!!! I dig this song so much. I could listen to it over and over.

  • I first noticed this song from the Patriot Games movie too and was equally entranced by it. I then heard Chicane's "Saltwater" version of the song which is excellent. This is the first time I have heard the original song in its entirety. It's so haunting. . .What is the meaning behind this song? Anyone?

  • @stevezed91

I believe the "Highest Rated Comments" section above has the Gaelic words (I Think) followed roughly by the English translation, quite simple really, but then again so is E=MC^2 ............

  • SO soothing.

  • A perfect song.For a perfect voice.....

  • I saw on Wiki that this song first became really popular in the US when it appeared in a scene from Patriot Games.

The ironic aspect is that in the scene the leader of an Ultra Violent Rogue Cell of the Provisional IRA is totally zoning out to a music video of this song - tranquil as can be. Then a minute later he is blowing away another Provisional IRA soldier with a shotgun.

  • i love this atmospheric song

  • Wouldn't it be great if all life were like this song........

  • ...oh, my God, ORLA.

  • 4 ppl r possessed

  • Oh lord the chills.

  • I cant stop rewinding the begining...Jesus her voice is rediculous. So haunting and crystal clear.

  • @UndercoverCracker My friend, i agree, i cant help doing the same, maybe trying to find fault somewhere? but i cant, absolutley amazing when a voice overpowers an orchestra!!

  • Wonderful rendition of the Clannad song...and if you haven't seen the movie 'Harry's game'? Get it if you can.

  • @jimincairns

    Wut is the movie about?

  • @Karen21242 Sorry I took so long to reply; I've been in Mexico on vacation.

The movie 'Harry's game' was taken from Gerald Seymour's book about the troubles in Ireland. A Brit officer infiltrates the I.R.A.

    GREAT film.

  • @jimincairns

Hey, no problem! Hmmm, that sounds like a good movie! :D

  • she is fucking amazing.perfection.

  • Imtheochaidh soir is siar *I will go east and go west A dtáinig ariamh an ghealach is an ghrian *From whence came the moon and the sun Fol lol the doh, fol the day Fol the doh, fol the day Imtheochaidh an ghealach's an ghrian *The moon and the sun will go An duine óg is a cháil 'na dhiadh *And the young man with his reputation behind him Imtheochaidh a dtáinig ariamh *I will go wherever he came from An duine óg is a cháil ne dhiadh *The young man with his reputation behind him
  • @Ummdor Thank you, I so love to know what these amazing songs are about, and you are so lucky to understand. I'd trade my German lessons for Gaelige (or whatever language this is) in a trice!

  • @wordgal14...Harry's Game is a British television miniseries made by Yorkshire Television for ITV in 1982. It is based on the novel of the same name by Gerald Seymour, which was published in 1975.The three-part serial starred Ray Lonnen as Capt. Harry Brown, a British soldier, sent undercover to Northern Ireland to find information to arrest Billy Downes (Derek Thompson), a Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) gunman.

And your right about the language it certainly is Gaeilge...

  • What a beautiful song.. now i know where the lyrics to Chicane's Saltwater come from...

  • she erectione me!

  • This song is just amazing, here voice so beautiful! This is the best example that a cover version could be more than only "ok"!

  • I went to go see Celtic women last year but I was so very disappointed because I found out then that over half of the original cast members including her have been replaced by younger and honestly a lot less talented members.

  • @moonseed26 I'm sorry you feel cheated but if they chose to leave the group for whatever reasons they would need to replace them. The singers have shrunken from six to three. I hope they find another singer. I think it works better with 4 but I haven't heard the new group sing. I doubt they'd be stopping in my part of the US.

  • This is the most beautiful song I have ever hear, It's simply magical. How can human have such a voice? It's a wonder.

  • wow!!!!!! to be irish is what this is all about! makes me cry, but with a feeling of magic!!

  • wow orla definetely has the best voice :)

  • @fuzzynuggetman27 ikr! shes the best singer i mean her voice is soo mysterious and beautiful :)

  • Wow, no auto tuning there then!

  • I love her! Best mezzo/alto I've ever heard.

  • Diese Gruppe vollendet in Gesang und Melodie

  • I had this piece of music to walk down the isle at my recent wedding, its the most beautiful piece ive ever heard, it makes my hairs stand on end and sends chills down the spine, wonderful !!!!

  • @fuzzynuggetman27

    My type of woman too!

  • Orla is best at singing Clannad material, like this Grammy winning song; or Newgrange, another one I like.

  • @bookkeeper57 Totally!

  • @bookkeeper57 So right! Couldn't have said better myself.

  • I love this music!!!

  • no words can explain how wonderful this song is! <3 beautiful simple beautiful!

  • Orla is just so hauntingly beautiful..

  • What language does she sing in ?

  • @ineedtorelaxmore Gaelic is the word you're looking for. That help?

  • This woman is not human. She is a fey from the green hills of Ireland!!

    Beautiful stuff. Thanks for posting!

  • @MiraSekelsky Sounds right!

  • GOD ... Her voice makes me wanna cry every time ... if there is a word more than beautiful ... she deservs it .... especially in this song ...

  • She sings this sooo good, really liked her in CW.. she gave power to the songs

  • INCREDIBLE. She single handedly made this her song.

  • I was watching my DVD of "Patriot Games" the other day, and lo and behold, here comes "Harry's Game" (the Clannad version). I wouldn't have known the title of that song or even recognized it, if it hadn't been for Orla's version that I heard first. It seems a little less "breathy" than the Clannad version which kind of makes me like it maybe just a bit better than the Clannad version (both are quite good).

  • This song is a special one to me. This is the song that made me fall in love with my first girlfriend. We would dance to it and stare into eachother's eyes.

  • This is one thing in life that can get me teary. Orla you always do it!!

  • MAGNIFICENT!!!! SIMPLY BREATHTAKING!!! i sure wish I could sing like that... T_T

  • i love this song! Don't know what it's saying, but it's beautiful anyway :D

  • @zebby511 Imtheochaidh soir is siar ** I will go east and go west A dtáinig ariamh an ghealach is an ghrian ** From whence came the moon and the sun Fol lol the doh, fol the day Fol the doh, fol the day Imtheochaidh an ghealach's an ghrian ** The moon and the sun will go An duine óg is a cháil 'na dhiadh ** And the young man with his reputation behind him
  • @suprsalami thank you for the translation....this is such a beautiful tune, my dad watched the tv show, ive read the book ....bloody powerful stuff

  • Now there's a lovely voice! Perfect for the material. Thank you!

  • Nice to see people do research before they comment queen.

This is from their first album, it was recorded as a one time show for PBS. On the second and their present album, they wrote new songs.

  • I think David Downes wrote "One World"

  • look, some are song writers .i no that lisa kelly does a little bit of that .why dont you see for yous self and look at there albums.

  • Has the Irish flute a particular name?

  • It is a tin whistle I believe here either that or a low whistle. There is an Irish flute but it is not used as far as I can tell in Celtic Woman

  • Uileann pipe I guess :)

  • i love ireland too. but i don't think lisbon treaty to be a bad thing for europe. yes there is a risk about that, as you say. but i don't think that we are going to lose our culture, only that we need a central power to maintain the order, to fight all the illegal things that happens every day (i'm italian, and i know how is a nation where illegality prevails...). yes we have no assurance, but i think is worth to try..

  • my friend what i seen with my own eyes i know this is a matrix we live in most people are slaves or you could say sheep to the NWO we are just debt slaves the history you know is a lie i just not know that i feel it open your mind brother you know its true .

  • Tis a lovely song and dose a lot for irish folk music so I am realy happy with that,God bless all here xc.

  • theres a lot of cowards in this world the ones who hide the truth the world you live in is a lie im sure you know that .

  • Think hard mate, they all lie but the secret is knowing who is lying and who is telling half truths, thats the hard part ????

  • wank

  • Aye you are.

  • Is that the best comment you can make ???

  • Does your mother know your out playing ???

  • A nice song,it reminds me of the time my mate was not quick of foot and paid with his life !!! that's

Northen Irerland for you and whats for you will not pass. That does not mean I dont hate the fuckers that did this but I dont blame the Irish as a hole for it ? just the cowards that hide in the background and declare themselfs heroes for killing someone from half a mile away or killing there family, now thats what I call a coward and I hope you do to.

  • what a song

  • Oh aye and this lad had irish blood !!!

  • Reminds me of Beowulf.

  • When I hear this, I am literally transported back in time 500, 600, 800 years to Ireland and I can feel what it must have been like for my ancestors living, loving, fighting and trying to exist there. I know it sounds weird, but it makes me feel this.

  • I know!! It's so creepy!!!

  • can you trace your ancestry right back to ireland? mine left ireland and moved to england 200 years ago...at times I dont feel english nor irish but just celtic.

  • Haunting, Moving, tearful and beautiful!!

  • Im floored everytime i hear this!!!!!

  • Is ceol iontach! Is Orlagh amhránaí brea ach is fearr liom Máire (Moya) Ní Bhraonáin. Chula mé Máire canadh amhrán seo an seachtain sea caite. Bhí iontach maith!!

  • This is such a powerful song!

    It's beautiful.

  • The most gorgeous and haunting voice Ive ever heard!

  • Orla's voice is just enchanting,it makes you want to just stop whatever you're doing & just listen & serenade in her song. You just don't want the song to ever stop playing. However sadly, all good things must come to an end.

  • i think clannad is amazing, but nobody has a prettier voice than orla. this is hauntingly beautiful

  • The best cover version of 'Harry's Game' I've heard.

It was listening to the Clannad original that got me into listening to more Celtic style music.

  • Same!! I have lots of Clannad & Enya but this is just as nice. I got goosebumps as soon as she started singing!!!WOW

  • The music sounds tragically, like she was crying over one who actually died.

  • ive listened to and enjoyed a lot of music over the years from pinkfloyd to pearl jam metallica to slayer, but this is and probably will be always my favourite piece of music. love it....

  • I really am quite positive Orla is the single greatest celtic singer out there!

  • A beautiful young lady with a voice to match.

  • Tis song is sssssssssssooooooooooooo beautiful!!! The song "Harry's Game" is original from Clannad "Celtic Ring"

  • i agree

    shes so good

  • this song is epic!! i caught a lot of flak and friends laughed at me for having this CD in my car but its well worth after your ears yield a few voices and a violin from heaven!!! its in my blood

  • funny i also lovve listening to celtic women and my friends also laugh at me, i wish they could appretiate it as much as i do :(

  • @gymnastwithatwist Why do your friends laugh at you for appreaciating Otherworldly music? Have they not heard anything this hauntingly good?

  • @Erin92100 ye but what they call good is just not the same style. plus i love singing and music so for me This is music . Myfriends just dont see it like i do but it's okay (btw they dont lit laugh at me, they're not like that mean)

  • @gymnastwithatwist Good, that they don't laugh at you or the music. I don't laugh at others music, just simply wonder how they can stand such unpleasant music. Especially when it involves loud drums and bass solos at high volumes for long periods of time. You following my point?

  • When I hear this song, I get chills down my spine. It is just so beautiful.

  • @windmaker21 Yeah I agree. I'm Scottish-Irish in family origin and it feels like "home." Listen at 0:55 to the awesome chord!

  • Simply beautiful.

  • love the song

  • I would hve a hard time distinguishing her from clannad if I didn't know, she sounds almost exactly like the lead lady.

  • I love this song, both the original clannad version and this of course

  • dramatic, beautiful, sorrowful, envigurating.

    absolutly perfect.

  • Beautiful song.

  • Intheochaidh soir is siar A dtainig ariamh An ghealach is an ghrian CHORUS Fol lol the doh fol the day Fol the doh fol the day Imtheochaidh an ghealach's an ghrian An Daoine og is a chail 'na dhiadh CHORUS Imtheochaidh a dtainig ariamh An duine og is un chail ne dhiadh CHORUS
  • I noticed someone had added the lyrics here but there was no translation from Gaelic to English; I'm adding the translation if it can help anyone:

I will go east and go west - To the places from whence came - The moon and the sun-

    (CHORUS:

Fol lol the doh fol the day

Fol the doh fol the day)

The moon and the sun will go - And the young man - With his reputation behind him

    (CHORUS)

    - I will go wherever he came from - The young man with his reputation behind him

  • Thanks to you, tstalsby509 and KellyLCrutcher.

  • Glad I could help :)

  • Beautiful song

  • It is my favorite song now!
