The flashing appears because the light reflecting of the surfaces is changing from white to black many times very quickly as the camera picks up the light, when it goes suddenly focused from black to white, it records the image as a flash, even though there is no flash there. I think the lens don't have time to adjust to record a smoother transition, so we end up seeing flashes.
