Little info on this for those concerned about waisting food. They use the same butter for the sculptures for a few years in a row. The butter cow was the only sculpture the State fair had for years and was sculpted by the same lady for years. If I remember right, she died a few years back.
and it promotes an agricultural tradition so more people are proud to be farmers and such, therefor putting more people into the buisness and keeping people that are slowly falling away from it to stay in (good land is being thrown to land developments in iowa right now, and we could use that to produce a ton of corn or have a dairy farm).
It's like investing $1 and getting 100. Farming is partly about having a strong sense of belonging to the community, and this butter cow is a testament.
It's like "House of Wax" except with butter. lol
