This game isn't a survival-horror game, it's an action horror game.
@uadfa The key word is still horror, and that's the aspect in which the game fell short. The game was marketed as horror and many reviews and players said that it's one of the scariest games of all time, but to me it wasn't even close.
@Darashiva Dead Space's shouldn't entirely be judged for its horror aspects, it's use to set-up the game's atmosphere and setting. It's not the core aspect of the gameplay, the main goal is about killing things. Unlike in games like Silent Hill and Amnesia, where the goal is to experience fear and survival. Dead Space is no more of a horror game than Gears of War, but no one judges that as a survival horror game. Also, I wouldn't take most mainstream game journalists seriously if I were you.
I have heard that this series would place the fear of God in your heart if it wasn't already there. You've given me something more to think about now. I love your voice as well; keep up with the reviews.
@LadySakure It probably depends on how easily a person is scared. For me it requires a bit more than 600 jump scares in a row like in Dead Space. Sure it will startle you a few times, but it will get old really fast. And thanks for the comment. I'm glad you like my voice.
Nice review of dead space , I agree with you on the points that the necromorphs give themselves away and that our hero Is kind of lifeless without Speech or emotions ,.
But I heard that lots of people like Isacc the way he is :)
@jubhub731 I wouldn't have minded Isaac so much if the game wouldn't have constantly been trying to make me care about him. We are told that Isaac really misses and loves his girlfriend, but nothing in Isaacs actions or behavior really points to this. We are supposed to just accept this because the game tells us to.
