I seen them in a FREE concert in my town Rich Hill MO on the 4th of july they did an awsome job and this was my fav part of the show and my fav song of theres also got a meet and greet before hand the guys were really cool
Actually, the song is about a phone conversation with an old friend who'd moved away to pursue a career in art. He was having his doubts about his own "version" of reality. From the original song: "If you wonder if your vision's jaded, just ask someone, who will tell you true. The one true friend who see's all that you've painted. He'll say, 'Hey man, that looks just like you.'"
A man went to the mountains to paint the perfect picture of the world. The picture I think symbolizes real life and wants to capture perfect vision of real life. But after trying to find perfection, he finds that a perfect life is impossible to achieve. What is a perfect life is in the eye of the beholder. It's message is that you can attempt to go thru life excepting to your life to pan out a certain way but in the end, you do what you do and you find perfection in the imperfections in life.
Best band of country music right there. I got to see them once, they came to my town for a free concert, I think it was at a ribs burnoff. Unfortunately I was a bit too young to know anything about music.
This version of the song is so awesome! This sounds exactly like the version on the Greatest Hits Live, was this performance the exact recording of it?
GREAT POETRY! at its finest! ...the words and song speak for them selves. Only an added bonus to have awesome vocals to go along with it. "This song is like a TARDIS"
The lead singer of BlackHawk, Henry Paul, is very much alive. The only member of BlackHawk that passed away is Van Stephenson who died of cancer in 2001.
@DarrylHawk he is very alive i seen em play the red river exibition in winnipeg a couple times they also played club regent to great band one of the best
You're right. The member of BlackHawk that passed away was Van Stephenson who passed away on April 8, 2001. Van was a great man who sang lead on a couple of album cuts but was not normally the lead singer. Van is missed very much.
It's about TIME I found a video of this song on YouTube. I saw you back in '96 here in Chicago. If you're back together, COME BACK! Best country song ever--That's Just About Right!
Thanks! That's great to hear. I must have just jumped to conclusions when I heard of Van's death and assumed that they'd broken up or gone on hiatus. I'll be watching the tour schedule at the Website.
Thanks again for posting one of my favorite songs of all time! It's much appreciated.

Probably the house engineer.
He ran everything very flat and that room has a terrible 200 thro 400 overtone.
Hated playing there.
