Evidently you have never heard someone that sings from the heart. There is no one out there today, (and sadly probably never will be) that will ever come close to the heart and soul this man put in his music!!! I'm only 43 years of age. I grew up listening to lots of different music, the eighty's were great, but when I want to listen to music that I can feel, I go to the one and only source that is out there, and that would be this man. He was only 42 when he died and he looked quite ill. Do you think people put too much pressure on him by treating him as some kind of god? he was so handsome and talented, but still just a man who was a talented singer/entertainer. Do you think people need idols without faults to fill some space in their lives? I know young girls need an idol before they have a real boyfriend, and that idol is usually their first love and maybe they expected to much of him?

i think that is a good point. yet there were many more factors that contributed to his decline, not least his addiction to prescripted drugs. they only made his depression worse as he tired of being Elvis Preslet i think, when you think about it his career could go no further, he had reached its highest peak, made a glorious comeback, and reached it again. his divorce and loneliness in life, the death of his mother still haunted him. they say only the greatest die young - and he certainly was.
