  • I want to run my jeep on propane but i cant find the convertion kid. since it is a fuil injected car how can i change ??

  • @maolin2001 Depends on the engine but you need a propane carb an intake adapter, fuel regulator and either a vacuum or electric lock off valve. On older vehicles you can simply shut down the injectors and fuel pump and install a timing box to advance timing, but on the newer vehicles you may need an injector simulator as shutting the injectors off may cause an error code in the computer. Some can be a real pain to do, but there are some propane injection kits out there now for the newer vehicles

  • @maolin2001 - check out AJ Automotive Group's set up. Google drive on propane and you will find them. Propane injection systems that run great in any weather.

  • @maolin2001 if you live near the border go to mexico, in mexico the gas lp(propane) is a normal convertion and have the electronic system for the full injection cars, i converted my ford lobo (f150) 1996 in propane full injection sistem, (i live in a border state).

  • It's pretty close, considering my current price at $1.59 I can't compain....

  • Is it as efficient as far as miles per gallon as gasoline?

  • it is electronic fuel injection? if so, the in board switch controls the fuel pump?. Nice set up BTW...

  • Could you not run gasoline through the Impco regulator to turn it into gas vapor?

  • Probably not really enough heat to get the gasoline in a true gas state, but I don't think it would really do you that much good.

  • Looks great! i have the same set up in my 98 chev 1500

  • you might be able to run it in conjunction with the gas and increase your fuel mileage

  • Question... does a fuel injected engine like your NEED carburetor in addition to the propane converter? i just bought a model J impco converter like yours, and im wondering if i now need to buy a carburetor like you did. also have a few other questions would really appreciate your help.

  • Yes, you need a propane carburetor, I might have made it a bit confusing when I said the engine is fuel injected, but let me clarify that for everyone, The engine is fuel injected when operating on gasoline. It is carbureted when operating on propane. The propane carburetor i'm using on the 2.2L GM engine is an Impco model 225 that is connected to the throttle body. In addition i'm going to convert a ford 460 and it calls for an Impco model 425 carb.

  • Great set up!!

  • ok so im looking into getting a 225 carb like yours how much did you pay? im hearing quotes that are $ 200 or more.. another question is do i need to buy a thorttle body with the propane carberator or can i do without?

  • that looks great, im trying to set my semi truck up with propane injection, cant find max amount propane flow needed, i have to run diesel with propane added.

  • I think I am right in saying (people feel free to correct me!) that the gas will not ignite on its own in a diesel engine, as it has such a high octane rating/low cetane rating, you either need spark igniton (petrol) engine, or some diesel still being injected in a diesel to start the ignition process.
