I agree with Ebert: Jeremy Davies would have made a better Norman than Vince Vaughn. But the remake still sucked. "Hang on, let me get my walkman" says it all.
Vince Vaughn is a great and good Norman Bates actor. Anthony Perkins is the greatest and much better Norman actor. The remake is nice and good but original goes first.
Anybody who says that Gus Van Sant isn't original, you're a total asshole and you don't know what you're talking about.
I'm NOT a fan of his, but he's as original as it gets. (Check out "Good Will Hunting" (1997) and MILK (2008))
I totally agree that someone else could have done a better job than Vince Vaughn. And as far as the "Disney" colors...get real! The vibrant colors are supposed to add to the effect.
You all are utterly ridiculous for laughing at the remake.
The point of the remake movie is not to imitate Alfred Hitchcock's PSYCHO. The point is to pay tribute to the guy.
Obviously, no one can beat the original, but Gus Van Sant did an incredible job with his version of this movie. Face it, he was open to criticism before he even turned his videocamera on and to me, it takes guts to even bother to remake the movie.
I have to admit that the Psycho remake has grown under my skin. It's a guilty pleasure. I really like the start of the film. I think Mr. Hitchcock would be very flattered if he was still alive. Of course, nothing beats the original, superb version.
@DAL1989 I agree! In my opinion, if I were one of the crew people behind the (Psycho) re-make, BELIEVE ME, I DON'T THINK I'D EVER WANT TO BE SEEN OR HEARD FROM AGAIN! That being said, YES, the re-make was THAT BLASPHEMOUS!
Remake of psycho is really bad! In b&w it's much better! the first 2 Psychos where pretty good! The 3rd was crap. The bates motel and the 4th psycho was horribly big fluffy ball crap! And the remake is undescribable.
The third wasn't terrible, but I agree that te first to are amazing. The 4th one had way to many plot holes to work for me, and the remake is, like you said, undescribable.

And just for the record, the intro is amazing.

the original 60's Gray lines are more scary, than 90's green lines, green reminds me of North By Northwest.

it seems like women back in the day had deeper voices. you just don't hear a voice like janet leigh's anymore

I think its the old fashioned sound equipment, not the voice that's different.

And what about the Bates motel? Did you see it?
Danventurefilms 3 years ago
Never seen it, but I heard that Anthony Perkins doesn't play as Norman, and that right there is a con for me.

okay wait why is the remake lines are green stupid
tcromes585 4 years ago
I know. It wasn't enough to just make it in color, they had in your face collors of bright green, pink and orange. It looked like a disney movie.
