Bruce Springsteen is the BEST ENTERTAINER of our time,, and he deserves a LifeTime Achievement Grammy award,,even though he still entertaining..lets recognize this enormous talent and thank God for giving him to our generation !!!! Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce
Aw....RIP Phantom Danny. Miss that guy so much...This is wonderful. What a bunch of goofballs. I couldn't help but smile through the whole thing. Thanks for posting.
I've just watched the film of the making of Darkness on The Edge of Town album. Bruce and Steve perform this song on piano and pillow with Steve belting out the rhythm. At the end The Boss declares that to be the one and only time that he will perform the song! Thank the lord he changed his mind!!!
I was at this show. The temperature was literally over 100 degrees all day with 100% humidity. This show was played at the old Veterans Stadium which was literally a concrete bowl, there was no air flow whatsoever. All I remember was sweating my ass off the entire show. At one point Bruce shouted that he needed some air conditioning and starting with the next stop on the tour, the stage was rigged so it was air condioned as cold air would be blown up from the floor.
Proof if there was ever any further proof needed that Springsteen is the greatest live performer of all time. The man is absolutely incomparable both as a songwriter and live performer.
Should their be any further proof as to who is the greatest performer of all time, then this video just confirms it for me. Springsteen is unequaled as a songwriter and live performer. The man is a genius and is in a class of his own.
This is the last song they would play during the Born in the USA Tour at Giant Stadium. We would go even when we didn't have tickets because they would let us in for the encores. Thanks for sharing this video and bringing back some awesome memories! This is classic Bruce and the E Street band -- I love it! :)
@CPSJSMSUUMUGA Without a doubt, brother. Even though Born in the USA was his last great album, his live shows through the end of that decade were still awesome! I think this had to be one of Bruce's favorite songs, from his enthusiasm and the number of times they played it..
Esta Canción es la Alegría de Vivir ! THANK YOU VERY MUCH Mr. SPRINGSTEEN ,,,, su música ha acompañado mi vida en los buenos y en los malos momentos..... por siempre LONG LIFE E STREET BAND !
When he says if it was only a little hotter...he was not kidding it was the hottest day of the year...it peaked at 103degree's with humidity factor. Bruce and the guys where dunking their heads in buckets of ice water.
I think veteran's stadium in august, even at night, was one of the hottest places on earth. the surface was green cement and it trapped heat like no other structure in the world.
Long live the boss! He's AMAZING! Not only a great musician, but a BRILLIANT performer. You can tell he really enjoys performing and being with his fans. I've never seen him not have a great time up on stage.
ok, everything that bruce does is stunning. I was lucky enough to be at crystal palace, when he introduced the e-street band, and i fucking loved it, i fucking loved it. But imagine, just imagine, if he did this live again. Political, saxist, and all that aside, just imagine, i ain't no john lennon, please bruce, do this live, one more time, for us silly fuckers who were born to late, otherwise i'm gonna put a bomb in my trousers and blow up your chevrolet??? God bless youx
I love this man!!!! I was at this show....15 years old and I was only a few rows from the stage in the center -- WHAT I WOULDN'T DO to have this night back!?!?!?
As far as energy is concerned watch his videos in the year 1980 mate, when he was that age you are talking about. You will have probably seen him though. Those were the days in which the boss really kicked ass.Darkness on the edge of town,Born To run and the river were in my opinion the best records he has ever brought up and all belonged to that era.Greetings!!
I'm not so sure about his energy being as diminished as you suggest. I've seen multiple shows on every tour, beginning with 3 on the 1978 Darkness tour, and including 10 Born in the USA shows.
I saw five on the recently completed Magic tour and I don't think I've ever seen more intense rock & roll by anyone, including Bruce Springsteen, then at those shows.
The Magic shows were shorter- 2:30+ compared to 3:30+ in 85-86, but he took a 20 break during the BitUSA shows, & told many more stories.
I agree with you Irush, 100 percent. I can't stand the way Bruce sing. He sings like he trying tooooo hard. Just too overrated singer and songwriter. He sing like a country singer.
I agree with you Irush, 100 percent. I can't stand the way Bruce sing. He sings like he trying tooooo hard. Just too overrated singer and songwriter. He sing like a country singer. The truth hurt huh?
I saw Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce on this tour five days earlier at Soldier Field in Chicago. HOT AS HELL THAT NIGHT. The scalpers overplayed their hand for this concert...I saw a pair of tickets go to someone for a six-pack of brew an hour before it started. Great show. The man does not know fatigue. Oddly, I was standing within 30 feet of my future wife, who I didn't meet until later that year. Karma baby.
Great line but today people would freak if they heard someone say that. Things ain't like they used to be. And in this sense, however, I think things have changed for the better. Still Springsteen's best songs from one of best albums.
I was at this show; I was only 15 at the time. This video really brought me back. I remember we were leaving the stadium because my sister wanted to beat traffic. I then heard the opening strains of Sherry Darling, and, my name being Sherri, pulled my sister through the masses to catch a glimpse. It was the first time I had seen him and he left me breathless-especially because of that song I felt he was singing just to me.... thanks for the memory!
My gawd, I hope you learned to never, ever, never, ever under any circumstances leave a Bruce Springsteen early. You may miss a half dozen songs. I once saw him come out and do a full hour after the lights were turned on and the building was a third empty - the other 2/3s weren't going anywhere, just chanting Bruuuce, Bruuuce, Bruuuce and would probably have set the building on fire if he hadn't come out. Never, ever!!!!
Hey I was there too - 15 years old also- it was my birthday present from my parents (of course my mom & my aunt HAD to take me!) We were third-row, center stage. He was, is, and always will be my favorite!
I've been brought to shows before i could walk by my mom who loves bruce. And I can remember being 5 or 6 and "Sherry Darling" blew me away. never seen a dissapointing show, thats why he's the boss!
when he played in cleveland in 70s you could see him for 5.00 he;d play small halls b4 born to run he;d sell out in 10 minutes and play for 3 to 4 hrs cleveland knew how great he,d be

Great show. I got on the Bruce bandwagon at that show and have never got off. By god was it hot! It was over 100 degrees during the day, and prolly around 90 during the show with 100% humidity.
simply the best live performer and band in music history...my wife and i were here that Philly Vet night 100 degrees..almost 4 hr show...hated to see it end
Hey, that's not a negative comment. That's exactly how he introduced Sherry Darling in 1978 on the darkness tour - frat rock. That's one reason his shows are so special and superior to *anyone* else - you experience all the human emotions. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be glad you're alive.
I was at both of the shows at the Vet in August of '85, not to mention all 5 in '84 at the Spectrum. Memories which last a life time. Greatest live performer of all time. Sherry Darling was actually written in '77 during the "Darkness" sessions, then released on the "River" in '80. Tremendous tune.
He has about 200+ great songs and can only play about 25 or so in a show. He plays Sherry darling once in a while. He plays about 125 different songs on every tour, but you'd have to go to 50 shows to hear more than 100. He rarely plays Because the Night, Streets of Philadelphia, The River, For You, Blinded by the Light, Incident on 57th Street, Rosalita, Racing in the Street, etc. & so on. He doesn't tour as an oldies act. He plays 9 or 10 songs of the new album and they are great,eg, Magic
Fantastic! Rock's greatest performer and writer at the peak of his popularity. Song's on The River (1980). This the probably the last song of a 3 1/2 show.
Rock's great performer, for sure. Peak of his popularity? He sold out 10 nights at Giants stadium - 550,000 total - in 2003 and has stadium shows scheduled there for this summer. It's now over 35 years since the release of his first album. Grandparents go with their adult children who take their kids. There has never been, or is likely to ever be, a live performer better than Bruce Springsteen. Thirty-five years of unmatched excellence, in the studio and on stage.
But I think that after Bruce dies ( - the later, the better !), he will become recognized as the Greatest ever , because of the length of his career, his live performances and his creation.
He is better than Elvis was ( though maybe Elvis had more charisma on stage )-
io che lo ascolto da quasi 30 anni posso dire che dal vivo(e l'ho visto) è uno dei migliori. grazie Bruce!!!!!!!!

But I think that after Bruce dies ( - the later, the better !), he will become recognized as the Greatest ever , because of the length of his career, his live performances and his creation.
He is better than Elvis was ( though maybe Elvis had more charisma on stage )-
