Am i the only one who's still amazed even now at how well they captured the feel of a tropical island in that game? That was honestly my favorite part about that game, it genuinely felt like you were on a tropical island every time you played. I think the sun/sand/water effects they used have a lot to do with that... They look amazing even now.

@amboredwatchingthis That one was probably on the same level as Mario 64. I absolutely loved it. I'm not even sure what Mario games have come out after Sunshine though. The only ones I've heard of are the 2 Galaxy's, but I've never played them. I'm not sure if you're including Mario Party games in your statement, but last time I checked they were at something ridiculous like Mario Party 8 or 9... It stopped being cool after the third one...

@amboredwatchingthis What do you mean "Mario games like this?" Super Mario Sunshine was a one of a kind Mario game. I guess the short answer is there were quite a few people who criticized (and trolled) this game for the different setting and water pack gimmick. I for one though this game was boss. Although I think Super Mario Galaxy 2 takes the cake in terms of 3D Mario games, this one has a very special place in my heart. It's every bit as good as Mario 64 if not better.

It is amazing how good this game looked back in 2002. I remember when I got into countless arguments debating on what system was better at the time. Gamecube or Playstation 2. Till this day, not one Playstation 2 game I have ever played looked close to this game.

They had sold all their Gamecubes already but had one gamecube behind the desk opened to show people games on their screen. I got that one, and that may be one of the happier days during my youth :) haha
