This is what strikes me as a little comical. Some french people, mainly the loud-mouthed morons, bitch and whine about the slightest bit of english, saying how unfair it is blah blah blah, but reality of the matter is the majority of language spoken is french. I could go on for hours, but long story short, it's a ridiculous truth. These french people make english people out to be horrible, yet english speaking people didn't really do anything side from point out the obvious: Stop whining.

At english school, specfically high school and CEGEP, french students who's first language is french made good friends with english kids who's language is english, and vice versa. So to recap...french school = incredibly hostile and racist. English school = accepting and friendly. Just by experience, who's worse again? Anyone can become fluent in 3 months, maximum. Speak only French, listen only to French, do not participate at all in any way, shape or form in English, all while attending French language classes at least three times a week. Once fluent, maintain it by speaking French every bit as much as English, maybe even more, since English is your native language. I met so many people who immersed themselves in Italy, Spain, Latin America, Japan, whatever, and after weeks (3 months MAX), they were fluent!!

Alberta is cutting funding to education and french immersion is primarily affected. My brother has been taking french since kindergaten he's in grade 11 and they are trying to cut the program at his school. Bilingual judges or the right to a bilingual judge seems fair. If that is the best way to give a fair trial to a citizen seeing as we are a bilingual country then so be it. They need to be able to communicate freely without things being lost in translation.
