  • Im glad I was born in 75 so I could appreciate the 80's as a child and teenager.

  • @aeronuk1 Me I was 78, I wish to be a kid again, I despise life as an adult, nothing to look forward to but plain ordinary crap!

  • @jhangirk yeah, you spend your childhood wanting to be an adult and when you are an adult you want to be a kid again!

  • @aeronuk1 Well said bro, i lost interest in life when I turned 28, so many good people sadly parted from life and I saw that humanity falling apart.

If you take a step back, you'll notice how people like u and I had it so much better in those times and humanity was more integral and not swamped with all this technology of now.

Respect and decency was the order of the day, I praise God that I was raised in times like those as we educated better unlike what the new generation are like now!

  • oh god the 80s were so sweet :-(

  • @LDP060681 I cry when I listen to this, I wish that God I could return to a simpler existence where love was everywhere and didn't experience so much hate like now!

  • it's hattie sykes from the 70s show sykes!

  • The boy that played Cuthbert has died now

  • Yep I was : ) The 1980's was a great time to be a kid wasnt it.

  • @TruckOnTyke1 You know bro, these days TV is just plain dead unfortunately, look at how bad it is and other media too.

    What's u're opinion?

  • @jhangirk I agree. What can you say about it? Just that its very different programmes being made by very different programme makers, for what they must perceive as a very different audience. They still make decent films, but the rest of popular media has really taken a massive nosedive in just about every respect.

  • @TruckOnTyke1 Thanks for your honesty bro, the new generation today are somewhat corrupted with all this nonsense that has plagued and destroyed the integrity of TV now compared to how good we had it back then.

All you get now is all this reality rubbish, back in the 80s it was all about getting lost in a World of imagination and there was a better learning curve.

These days kids want speak as if they're older than their age which scares me alot, thank God that we grew up in better times.

  • Without a doubt, the 70's & 80's were prolific decades that gave us so much in terms of music, film, TV, Theatre, radio and most of all outings.

Why on earth did everything have to be so sour today. For me those days were paradise and will live forever in my heart and soul!

  • @jhangirk Absolutely spot on, mate. We never knew how good we had it back then, because there was just so much good stuff.

  • @TruckOnTyke1 Glad to know that someone like yourself appreciates he finer things that are still well worth remembering to this day.

Were born in the late's 70's like me at all?

  • Loved this!

  • AMAZING! Funny how you forget about shows like this and then seeing them on YouTube brings it all flooding back.

  • Thanks for the upload. :)

  • Nicola Stapleton... my first crush. *sigh*

  • and right about now, id grab my footy and go and call for my mate :) oh how i wanna be young again :(

  • @PhreshFunk are u from up north? I havnt heard that phrase in years 'go and call for my mate', do kids even do that today, this is what I remember: knock knock..is paul playing out? (paul's mum): nah luv, he's still having his tea you wanna come in and wait

  • @IrrepressibleGuile i am mate haha blackburn :) you would walk or run for ages after scoffin your tea call for your mate to be told no he's goin out. or he's doin homework or the worst one, he's at his mates! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO im his mate!!!!!!

  • @PhreshFunk legend! same for kids all over the british isles! out playing in the rain, sun, dark, morning whatever! soccer with the lads, a bit a sega mastersystem, cartoons for 7 hours on saturday mornings!

  • This is freaking me out.

  • The main shots in the show were filmed in Beaconsfield

But what road was Lady Fox-Custard's house on

    The big red brick mansion.

In the show called "Horty Hall" but where was it really? Any advice pls?

  • Sad to see both comedy legends Joan Sims and Liz Spriggs both pass away recently after playing the respective roles of Lady Ffoulkes-Coustarde (aka Fox Custard)

    and the witch.

Also sadly the young lad who played Cuthbert passed away in his early twenties after contracting meningitis.Which was a real shame.

Why can't the BBC do a reunion episode and bring the cast back together for a clips show and see how they've all changed.

  • @dazens1 think you've answered your own question there

  • @dazens1 Joan Sims passed too, oh no, will someone, anyone take me back to the 80's, I BEG U PLEASE!

  • This is when kids shows were shows for kids!!! Now its all about being 'cool' and acting far older than you are. Kids just cant be kids now days!!

  • @pearljam619 Bro, you said it!

  • Apart from Elizabeth Sprigs and Joan Simms I've never heared of the other cast members.

  • They tweaked the style of the credits a lot through the series, completely remaking them at least twice. And yes, brilliant music, I wish I knew who wrote it.

  • Wow.. memories... I used to love watching this programme. Happy happy days.. :-) i feel so damn old.. This must have been like 1988 I guess..I was7..LOL..

  • @sidkings ,pretty close, actually 1987.

  • I actually used to watch this, way back when the BBC actually knew how to do kids TV, none of this Teletubbies shite.

  • issaBorinG.

  • @wonderfulkeithfloyd You're boring.

  • @wonderfulkeithfloyd Speak English or shut up

  • what was the programme where the lad would always swap regular things for magical things with an italian bloke?

  • @jamesjonesrocket Alfonso Bonzo?

  • @marmadukesymesparker bloody hell, that was quick! thanks a lot buddy, all the best.

  • @jamesjonesrocket yep I think that was Alfonso Bonso (sp?)

  • @madabbafan thankye, regards

  • reggae ska man, i used to love this, when it finished id do the hop around my living room.

  • this theme tune has that 80's soul to it. man i miss these primary school days.

  • RIP Elizabeth Spriggs and Joan Sims-comedy legends

  • Elizabeth Spriggs isn't dead!

  • She is unfortunately, she died in 2008

  • Yeah i used to watch this shiznit

  • the theme music blatant ska

  • Hows the theme its like a mix of a late 80's early 90's theme and a very British theme..hell they never sounded like this in American ones lol..I want this theme to be played at my wedding lol....wow that was random, bit like this show

  • @mintyspace - it's actually 1987, but yeah same kind of vibe that carried on right through to the early 1990s.

  • Love it good old classic british tv not American influenced crap you get today. Who remembers watching the BBC adaption of the lion the witch and the wardrobe on Sundays as well? I know its maybe more nostalgia in this instance but it was beter then the recent movie imo.

  • Yep I remember that well :)

  • Awesome tune. RIP Elizabeth Spriggs (The Witch)

  • Wasn't the guy who played the ice-cream parlour man / cafe man (can't remember) also the waiter on Monster Cafe?

  • No Valdini was played by C.J allen and Igor from monster cafe was played by David Shimwell

  • Ah cheers for clearing that up - they are remarkably similar though...or am I imagining it? :D

  • Your imagining it, Igor looked a lot uglier and didn't even have a moustache.

  • I used to love this! Sooo many memories flooding back, sunday morning kids tele, blis, thanks

  • awesome theme, reggae never sounded better!

  • my mum play's simon's mum in this-hilairious!

  • You mum must have played the JAM WOMAN in the day today then???

  • so THAT'S where I remember her from!

''How dare you come on this programme and say you've raised fifteen hundred pounds selling jam; you'd have made more money auctioning dogs!''

    LOL!

  • ahhhhhhh yesssssss!!!! meant to give u thumbs up but slipped!

  • WOW! i like your mum she seems a nice lady ,very mumsy

  • Lovely bit of Lover's Rock there!

  • totally agree minty! the theme tune is so unique is a british theme that has stuck in my head for years

  • How insane is the theme LOL, You wouldnt get such an interesting theme on an American childrens show...I just cant put my finger on it but there is just something very 80's-90's British feel about it...

  • Your totally right about the old retro 80s - 90s theme! it has that era sound about it! modern tele is woeful!

  • yeah its all Jap + U.S. toss. I am, how ever 27 now so errrrrrrm, whadda I know?

  • @mintyspace , that is because it was made in 1987

  • i always thought liz smith (nana in the royle faily)played the witch as they look similar oh well.. liz is 86 now.

  • Everyone is either outright frowning or have half hearted smiles on...

    Very weird.

  • You never see posh kids on telly anymore

  • your right, but plenty of people on tv with lisps and speech impediments like cuthburt...millions of the bleeders.where have they all come from???

  • for an authentic late 80's effect i should be watching this whilst eating fish fingers and oven chips!

  • Right on the spot,,,,,,,

  • @bamberclart mate - that comment made me so nostalgic about being a kid that it put a shiver down my spine!

  • Sadly Elizabeth Spriggs who played the witch passed away last week. RIP.

  • There was nothing on the news about it :o(

Did you see her in Martin Chuzzlewit as Mrs Gamp ? She was superb in the part.

  • So thats two of the main characters dead now because Joan Simms dies a few years back...

  • You're right! You think Simon went to the funeral???

  • i know u posted this a while ago, but i've just found out today and i'm well gutted about the news. I watched this as a tiny boy and this programme was my fav and she always made me laugh. I've never forgot this series and it brings bak some lovely memories from childhood

  • Must of been about 9 or 10 when this was first on oh i wish i was a kid again

  • Brilliant. Thanks for the upload. Brings back memories.

  • Genius ! Havent seen this in donkeys years! Since I was a boy

  • used to love watching this when i was a kid, all these shows much better than the crap you get nowadays, proper kids tv this.

  • love it x

  • Why did you upload this?

  • Gap in the market.

  • @marmadukesymesparker Top answer mate. Pissing myself .Lol.

  • what a foolish question

  • @wonderfulkeithfloyd Some questions can not be answered. Just like, why did you choose your surname after a dead, alcoholic, shite cook?
