  • It's funny how they still have commercial breaks. I was in the area and I was terrified. Tornadoes damaged my house. So Its better to just stick with local news for tornadoes and other severe weather.

  • Macon County had the highest death toll out of any county in Tennessee that night. Remember it like it was yesterday.

  • Do you have any videos reporting a tornado in Macon County Tennessee?

  • TWC has changed. They now cover major severe weather outbreaks. And when needed, they scratch regular programming to cover the severe weather.

  • @Weatherman436 True, but they still take commercial breaks at a time when warnings should be continuing. Comparing their coverage to ABC 33/40 and the FOX station in Birmingham for the big outbreaks April 15, 27 this year their coverage was substantially better. TWC has a few really good on air meteorologists but they tend to also put total idiots in front of the cameras who you wouldn't want making you a burger at Mcdonalds let alone warning of you of severe weather...

  • @comicpilot Yep. Something tells me that The Weather Channel is heading for a double dipper for rock bottom. They have not shown their LDL during Prime Time for a few weeks now and it is rediculous.

  • @Weatherman436 What's funny is they went to actual tv programs to compete with NatGEO, TLC, Discovery, etc.. TWC needs tolet those stations do reality tv... Stick to weather reporting. Most people I know who complain bout the wx channel is because it became a tv station and less about actual current weather.. Besides that if you take, "Storm Stories" or "Storm Riders" and put those up again Discoveries "Storm Chasers" Discovery blasts weather channel shows' off the map.

  • @comicpilot Exactly. NBC Universal should've NEVER bought The Weather Channel. They should've said "NO" to their deal.

  • Never knew that Tennessee gets so many tornadoes

  • @MrGSWAGG92

I live in jackson tennessee and it seems that every 4 years our city is hit by a strong tornado we were hit in1999 2003 and in 2008 and each one took out a good portion of our city but all we can do is rebuild and wait out the next one.

  • There was a tornado. I remember Jim Cantore said that.

  • Ahhh! I live in Evansville! :0

  • lol PDS = Particularly Dangerous Situation. What next? WNMSC (Why Not Make Some Coffee)?

  • I absolutely hate it when meteorologists say 'this storm does not look very tornadic on radar" or similar stuff like Cantore did discussing the Nashville warning. The second you say something like that, a few people are going to misunderstand and assume the danger has ended. If there is even a chance that a tornado is still developing or on the ground, you keep your mouth shut about "good news" and you keep telling people that it is a "potentially life threatening situation" and nothing else!

  • Crap man i don't think i remember that even tho I live in Tennessee it never happened here

  • i remember that night see i live in dixon mo and we had a NASTY storm pass over...the center of circulation was right by our house and dropped a tornado just a couple of miles to the east of the house

  • This was when the weather channel was actually accurate with their forcasts.

  • thats weird cause at the begining of feb. u expect snow storms think if that was a snow storm o_0a blizzard would of hit tennessee !!!

  • i love the dixie states!

  • This was one nasty yr for tornadoes in the SE. It seems as if our tornado sirens were going off atleast 2 times per week in Feb-Mar of 2008. I live just west of Atlanta.

  • I'll never forget the one that hit Union University in Jackson, Tennessee in this outbreak.

  • that's also the one that hit nashville

  • The same one that hit Union in Jackson?

  • Yep

  • cant wait until this tornado season!

  • it already happend ~_~ remember the july 31 2009 outbreak o.o

  • The Hockey Game was at the Sommet Center not LP Field that were the Titans play. Though I remember this but I was watching the local stations and then Castalian Springs got hit hard.

  • i'm in mid tn and it hit us in sumner county!

  • jim cantore best meteorologist ever

  • DAVID NEAL!!!!!

  • @GuitarHero2131 Used to be, now far from it.

  • The Stoughton tornado happened on August 18, 2005 and was rated a F-4. There were 28 confirmed tornadoes. I am from Wisconsin too, and I'm actually happy we don't get outbreaks like that often, but I'm sure it'll happen again so don't assume we never get tornadoes.

  • the super tuesday outbreak

  • Comment removed

  • OMG I live in Morrilton Arkansas which is 10 miles from Atkins. Conway County ( where Morrilton is) got destroyed by the tornado that came through here! It was so sad! But I love tornadoes!

  • I Remember This When A Tornado Atually Came To Powell County Man It Was Not Great At All!

  • I hear Tornado Sirens in the background

  • I hate how the weather channel takes commercial breaks right after they announce a tornado warning! If there's a tornado threat where I live I always watch the local weather guys because the weather channel is unreliable. You never know when they're going to air When Weather Changed History as a tornado bares down on your town.

  • I agree and now things are getting at it's worse when NBC grabed The Weather Channel.

  • @rattmausch Actually they never do that anymore.. here in wisconsin we always get program alerts from the weather channel

  • @rattmausch Well I mean, that's kind of the idea. That's why local networks have meteorologists in the first place, after all. If they did nothing but cover severe alerts whenever there was one, they'd have no time for other programming...although you could argue that that's really their purpose as a network and serves more function than the other programs, which I would honestly probably agree with. But either way, the local EAS exists for a reason.

  • @rattmausch They have too many commercials, it's annoying. It's like they're on air for 5 min. then back to 3 mi.n of commercials. :(

  • @rattmausch Thats what happend in 2009 in Walton New York

  • @rattmausch the local news does the same here. They don't brake on covering the storm for anything.

  • @rattmausch No its not that. Its just the NWS issues then during the comersial breaks.

  • @rattmausch noaa radio is best for tornado warning it has alarms that wakes u up from a sleep vs the tv

  • Way to spend so much time talking about damage in Memphis and a harmless squall line in KY while a strong EF-3 tornado is moving into Macon County, northeast of Nashville, killing 22 people.

  • Jim Cantore Rules ^_^

  • man i was their and let me tell u it wasnt fun

  • I'd like to apologize...I seriously didn't mean it in anyway bad. I totally agree with you and for that I am sorry. Yes, when seconds count, naming of corporate businesses or amusement place doesn't matter.

  • You know... the weather channel has an account on here. I thought I also saw an account by Jim Cantore... and it has his age on it... 44. So, I hope he didn't see it.

  • A hockey game at Adelphia Collisium? Jim, you're a little too out of date for Nashville. First off, for those not here in Nashville, it was the Nashville Predators (hockey team) that played at the Somet Center Adelphia (now LP field) is the football field.

  • To be kind, but truthful...in terms of life-or-death situations, it doesnt matter what the corporate naming rights are to a stadium. I understand what you are saying, but...anyway. I hope and pray all the families affected will be able to rebuild their lives.
