Mexican city cops get a paid a third of what nyc cops do. UNAM, barely ranks in the in the top 150 of any global university rankings. Watching mediocre soccer and visiting cemeteries aren't exactly great sporting or cultural experiences. Also people don't really like get kidnapped after having a taxi ride.

In Juarez, an average of 8 people are murdered EVERY DAY. That's many times more than even the most dangerous US city (Detroit). That is a fact. I do not live in Mexico but I have been to Tamaulipas several times, and recently I have seen that people are living in fear there, and it is not safe. Even the police (especially them) live in constant fear of death. Tell me where it's like that in the United States.

The narrator is wrong. Mexico is FAR from being the biggest city on the planet. That's almost laughable. Tokyo trumps mexico city in population. Geographically, the Greater Mexico City (mexico valley area) is teeny compared to the Los Angeles-Long beach-San Bernardino-Riverside area or Greater Tokyo, or New York's tri state area. I do not live in Mexico but I have been to Tamaulipas several times, and recently I have seen that people are living in fear there, and it is not safe. OMG, I still shake when I hear the sound of the alarm... When I was in Elementary school they KILLED US on those practices: radio, TV, public buildings with the scary "BAW-WA, BAW-WA" sound. At least for personal experience I can say they actually prepared us in case of emergency.

Mexico City is the largest Single city in the world.
The Japanese merged two of their largest cities to form the Greater Tokyo Metropolitan Area.
Mexico City just grew and assimilated several small towns that existed around it.

Japan cheated by fusing two very large cities which had grown separately: Tokyo and Yokohama, and other considerably big cities.
Mexico City grew by itself as a single city, without absorbing other large cities. Mexico City by itself is bigger than Tokyo by itself.
If Mexico fused two or more of its large cities, like Japan did, they would be bigger than Tokyo.
But that won't happen because Mexico is big and has a lot of area to build, unlike Japan.

There are no cities near the capital that could be combined to even equal Japan. Tokyo is one city.

I disagree. The way something came to be is very important. For example, Japan would probably have been split into two different parts, like Korea, if the 2 atom bombs hadn't been used. Another example is that Israel wouldn't exist if the Holocaust had not happened.
Yeah, maybe saying a city cheated is stupid. But Mexico City is in a young country and it grew slowly & naturally over a long time. Other cities just "jumped" in size.

@Tezcatlepocatl If Tokyo is a single city now, why does it matter if they were separate cities 68 years ago (1943) . They were so close to each other, that when they grew to having such large population they developed into one single city. So does that mean the United States isn't a single country? Alaska in 1947, Hawaii 1959. Good luck telling them they don't exist...
Actually Israel was created after WW1 not WW2... Japan would have surrendered to the Americans over the Soviet.

What? There was a UK-backed Zionist presence in Palestine after WW1, but the state of Israel was created in 1948 thanks to strong international support to make up for the Holocaust.
I really don't think the Soviets would have cared who Japan wanted to surrender to. They definitely didn't care in Germany. They had hundreds of thousands of troops stationed in Sakhalin, ready to cross and pour into Hokkaido. The US just had air bases in Okinawa.
Japan would have split in two for sure.
