I used to be like a toothpick until I reached my 20s. I usually ate only once a day. I loved food though, the greasier the better. It's just that I didn't have a big appetite. It's hard for me to fathom a male having anorexia. It's such a typically female condition. Men are usually not obsessed with the idea of looking like toothpicks in order to receive compliments from the opposite sex. Very strange... I wonder if male anorexia is linked to male homosexuality? we're both partially correct. There's a genetic predisposition to anorexia without which one doesn't become anorexic and there's a life event trigger that nowadays could for example be the obsession with magazine models but in the past was something else, considering anorexia has been known for centuries.
I was 5'9" and 115-120# all my teen and adult life and felt great. 4 years ago I became more sedentary and ate more so now I'm 175#. I don't feel nearly as well and have nowhere near the energy I had when I was skinny. Right now I'm back into swimming every day and eating less so I can get back to a healthy weight of 120#. Don't just assume because a guy is thin he's unhealthy.

Never before have I heard someone this insensitive towards this issue. This issue does not have to do with somebody not appreciating available food, but a deep, deep mental problem. My friend almost died to anorexia nervosa. She is recovering, but still struggles with depression. I hope that one day you see that these people are not vain, they are not seeking attention, they are people who need help for a very serious and life threatening condition. I just watched this tonight. It was really good, but really sad. There was even an adorable eleven year old boy that was annorexic. I can't even imagine being that young and so painfully aware of yourself. People are cruel, but the willingness to destroy yourself because of it is even worse.

I remember this shit when I was younger. I had anorexia when I was 16. Yeah im a guy. I just like being in shape and I feared gaining weight. The only problem was I didn't know starving myself would do the opposite of leave me in shape. I lost all my muscle and became mentally ill.
This is why I quit trying to please society and now I only care about pleasing myself. So I went and bought a fridge to celebrate. lol

its just as hard for boys as it is for girls but girls usually set higher standards for them selves like a boy is too skinny lets say 100 lbs a girls is to skinny at about 95 lbs.

it's an illness therefore its not easy ...its not like they do it for fun ...it's like depression ...it's an illness yet it doesn't seem like it ..i had it ...and ...i could never feel happy or positive i fell negative not because i wanted to ..but because i just couldnt i only had the feeling of sadness and hopelessness and i never felt happy not even if i won something at that time would i feel happy because i was too depressed and it was really extremely difficult to live life

Because:
1. Some girls are comfortable with themselves the way they are and don't believe in breaking their backs just to gain the attention of shallow people.
2. Some girls have to work harder to be skinny than others especially to stay as skinny as these boys in this vid.
3. Them not being skinny filters out the people who would just date them for their body while letting the ones who value their personality see them more.
